  1. Just what I'm after Hallister, keep the comments coming chaps

I've read the USB issue is fixed if connected to USB3.

I had issues with my X55 till I ran it from a powered USB3.0 Hub, if I pull the power to the hub windows still picks it up and it "works" but have some hickups, power back on and no problems.

  2. Edit "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick\default.lua", and put this in on line 8 (below the line that starts with "join")

    { down = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE, up = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE, cockpit_device_id = devices.HOTAS, value_down = -1.0, value_up = 1.0, name = _('Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND/RETRACT'), category = {_('_Custom'), _('HOTAS')} },

it should add a new keybind "Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND/RETRACT" in a category called "_Custom".

This will extend the speedbrake when you push it, and retract it when released. Making it perfect for the x55 "slider"/speedbrake switch.

    Legend!

Will this break the integrity check though?

  3. 2.9GB

Why are we getting so many different updates?

    The new delta patches ?

We all have different modules and terrains, the patch size is not just the Hornet, its multiple modules.

explain this to an idiot like me please

    Easier to read this.

He can have his terrain folder on another drive but DCS wouldnt know its moved for example.

  4. Well this works for me

    attachment.php?attachmentid=186582&stc=1&d=1528156775

This is also how I did it, but I set the time to run at 3 sec to make sure the brake had fully deployed or retracted.

Just make sure you dont press any buttons whilst its running the macro else it gets interrupted and stops the brake moving in/out fully which can be a pain on the next deployment.

I made a thread about this last week requesting a fully deploy/retract option in game and they said they would look into it.

  5. If you really want to know I use a mixture of ingame programming and saitek. For functions I need in all 3 modes on the same button. I program those in game saves me having to program 3 separate modes with the same exact key which isn't hard but still more involved than 1 bind. For functions that I do use separately I program that in the saitek depending on which mode does what.
On the harrier I programmed in the saitek software the mode dial to the aircraft master mode (vstol, AG, nav), works flawlessly. Tired to do the same with the Hornet for AA and AG but so far not had much luck (though not tried that hard yet in fairness)
  6. Quick question regarding the speed brake for the F/A-18C. Does this only have 2 possible positions (fully extended/full retracted), or can it be used incrementally (as in slightly extended for small braking)?

    Is used incrementally.

  7. From an experienced group: We sat in Discord for an hour and it all started with clearing the entire controller bindings and binding every button in a discussion.

We never assume it's all done for us, and this was not different for the Hornet, the only things bound were views to the trim hat which we immediately deleted.

You just have to assign your buttons.

I concur, I spent the first 40 minutes building a control setup before I even "sat" in the jet.

I doubt that you have a lemon as you put it, just that you jumped into the deep end before being able to swim.

  8. I'm still piecing together my control setup, but have you looked in the "Special for Joystick" section? That has quite a few ON/OFF settings, and my plan for after work is to look for a speed brake setting there for that BTN35 on the X55 TQ.

I did and there is one for toggle but it won't allow me to assign a keystroke to it in game. A keyboard binding is required for how I need to macro the command in the X55 software due to how that air brake button works on the X55 (have to macro a release command as well as a trigger) in game it does not detect the release, only the press.

Let me know if you have any luck.

  9. Is there a way we can set the air brake to fully deploy and fully retract at a single press of a button from in game.

I am using an X55 and the natural switch on the throttle for the air brake is a single position switch, on other modules (Harrier, Mirage etc) I have a profile setup for it to press the keyboard command (B) in game on both press and release of the HOTAS switch which works great.

On the A10 and FA18 though, because of the way the brake operates I have to build a macro to hold that key-press for 3 seconds to fully deploy or retract the brake, the only problem is that its just not reliable and flakes out half way some times because if I press another key whilst the macro is part way through running it cancels the air brake macro which then doesnt finish its deployment.

Can we please have an additional bind available to fully retract or deploy the air brake, or can someone let me know how to script this please?

    Thanks

  10. I have been looking in the NATOPS manual but have not been able to find anything.

The image I have attached shows a circled element which I have tried as best I can on my phone to recreate in green. Can someone tell me what it is indicating please as no matter how many videos I watch I cannot fathom it.

  11. Sure, but this is a workaround at best...
It's the method I use with every TGP in DCS, not sure if it's how they do in real life but if the outcome is what you want and it's not a bug (thinking about how it does it it's designed to work like this) then it's not just a work round. It's a valid method.
  12. What camera are you using with it? I have a PS Eye with a bit of Camera Film Negative stuck over the lens as a IR filter and its works fine with Opentrack. That said the latest version of OT is broken and doesnt work so I am using a version a couple back.

Give me a few minutes and I will dig out my settings from an older post I made on here for you to have a go with.
