Actually.... why not?
If the flight model of the GBU-12 only works with a laser for some reason, change the code to the equivalent of "yeah, there's totally a magical laser pointing at the coordinates (insert coordinates that were given to the JDAM)"
-
Now that the schnaps has arrived, what about the rest? How's the progress concerning the systems coding? Looking so much forward to that heli. :)
-
You can notice it easily: Start a mission with an F-15C as player plane and start taxiing.
-
Hmmm... depends I guess. Do you own FC3 or the "DCS:Flaming Cliffs F-15" module? You need one of those.
EDIT: Sniped by SD.

Thanks, Ells!
We really appreciate all those updates, even though they are small.
:cheer3nc: GO TEAM!!

Well, for me it is clear: It's my father's fault. He had a computer and played "Aces of the Pacific" and the original Falcon (on Atari). Both wouldn't be called "sims" nowadays, but back then they were.
We're a family of aviation fans, so it came naturally that the computer geeks in the family would also play sims.
But we all do, from FSX to DCSW, everything halfway realistic.

While I can shoot effet shots myself and have played snooker (my highest break was a 20 IIRC) I still think what Jimmy White does in that video is magic. Same goes for some long pots those guys play.
Most people don't realize how freaking big such a table is. 12-foot tables, also with rounded corners. A very fast cloth, small balls. A real pain in the a** to play on if you are used to normal pool tables which are 6-9 feet long.
As for players who play cool comebacks when they stand with their backs against the wall, there is one that stands out IMO: Graeme Dott. Unbelievable. IIRC I once saw him 1-6 in a best of seven game, and he ended up winning. His poor opponent... :)

What the....
Did we accidentally switch to KSP? :D
-
Damn, they're making it look even moer sexy...
You like big jugs, do you?
eehhmm... tanks, I mean tanks of course. :D

Those look sooooo ugly. Please don't. :D
-
Sounds great!
Actually I don't care too much for all these planes, but the more planes for DCS, the better. :)
-
I used to be a big Snooker fan, and I still like the sport very much, but this year I just don't have the time to watch it properly, which is a pity.
Also my most favourite players don't play anymore (or just aren't as much fun to watch anymore), which sucks.
While I agree Ronny is one of the best, I always was more of a fan of Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry. Davis is too old now, and Hendry... well, I guess he's just not the best anymore.
But other favourites of mine include Dott, Higgins, Robertson, Ebdon and Selby. And I also was very impressed by Judd Trump. Man, that boy can play!
So I guess I have to see whether I can watch a bit of Snooker again.... :)
-
Wow. A bit too crazy for me, but quite cool. :D
-
Also it is incredibly dangerous to drop a bomb in supersonic flight anyway, I might add. I can't even imagine what problems might exist at Mach 3.
-
Yeah, I guess you are right. Exploring the limits is what makes it interesting. :D
-
Looked a bit like "Live fast, die young" to me. :D
What sobek said.

new 1.2.8 F15 FM.:joystick:
For those that are at work.:)
First landing realy made me laugh.
WOW!
WTF were you doing? I only can watch this in low res here but it seems you landed quite fast and without a proper glide path. I'm actually surprised you didn't explode. :D
Still, nice to see it. Thanks for the vid!

Ok, while we're at it I'll make some wishes myself, although I admit some are more realistic than others.
What about ground crews? I love DCS, but the airports are so sterile. Maybe it is possible to have some sort of animated guy standing around waving me to my parking spot? Or a crew chief that gives a salute and then steps away from the plane before disappearing, whatever.
Or some trucks similar to civil traffic, just driving around the airport. Anything that helps to make it seem alive.
Also the P-38 (any version). Just a beautiful plane. But I already said that somewhere else.
And yes, WWII Combined Arms. Without ground vehicles the module is "DCS: Oldtimer flying" and while that is ok I'd prefer a fully functional WWII module for DCS, and that includes CA.
And above all of them: A better ATC and ground control. The one we have sucks. FSX and BMS suck as well, but not that hard. I'd be happy with something similar in DCS.

Thanks for the update!

Yep, me too. Although every picture or video makes me want the MiG more.
And now that I think about it: The two weeks or so the early guys get the MiG earlier will be pure torment. I wish I had noticed the project earlier back then.
Go team!

I still don't understand how authorities find a different object everyday but yet it is no part of a plane...
My questions are:
- why did it take so long to deploy search teams?
- Why no mayday from pilot?
- How can we find a soccer ball in a middle of a soccer field using google map but we cant find a plane the size of a building?
- Or the government knows something we don't?
As for your questions:
1. It didn't. They started searching almost instantly after learning something bad happened.
2. Dunno yet. One possible explanation is that he wanted to commit suicide.
3. To stay with your example: We don't know WHICH soccer field. We have to search every one of them. The oceans are HUGE. That is not easy. And that plane is most likely not intact. We know from other crashes that there might even be no debris at all floating around. So we don't even know how it will look. We have to search manually.
Also lots of stuff is floating around on the oceans. At the moment they are looking at everything that might be debris. That's where all the false positives come from.
4. Maybe. Maybe not. Also: Which government?
-
I remember at least two threads about that in the last two years, and yeah, it sucks.
My suggestion: Give the GBU-38 the flight model of the GBU-12. Still soo much closer to reality than the current thing, and presumably rather easy to do.
EDIT: Actually I wonder: Is it possible for a mod to assign a SFM or AFM to a weapon? I would volunteer to do it.
-
The only thing I could find was this.
IIRC there are no consistent rules in the USAF about that. Squadrons and/or AFBs can decide parts of that themselves.
USAF document, No. 11-218, page 6 says:
1.4. Use of Aircraft Lights.1.4.1. For aircraft equipped with anti-collision lights, the lights must be on from just prior to
engine start until engine shutdown.
1.4.1.1. Aircraft that do not have power available before engine start shall turn anti-
collision lights on as soon as power is available.
1.4.2. From sunset to sunrise all moving aircraft shall display position lights and lights to
clearly illuminate the extremities of the aircraft.
1.4.2.1. From sunset to sunrise, moving aircraft with no power available to operate
lighting systems, such as aircraft being towed, shall use wing-walkers with lighted
wands, or another means to illuminate the extremities of the aircraft in motion.
1.4.3. Flashing lights may be switched off or reduced in intensity if they will adversely
affect the performance of duties, or subject an outside observer to harmful glare.
So thanks for your info!

Well, at least the bomb would fall with a reasonable speed. Which it doesn't now. I would call that an improvement.
EDIT:
That's normal in software development. If a programmer always waits for the time to do a 100% proper solution he will (almost) never release something more complex than "Hello world!".btw: Last time I asked whether a template exists for modders to create an AFM / SFM / whatever for a bomb and assign it as a mod. Does anyone know the answer?
