  1. Thank you for the information. I do hope that by next year, when there will be no less than 3 VR sets to choose from, the DCS sims will be able to use at least one of them, without problems (or at least very few).
  2. Is there any thought about using VR Goggles in DCS World Sims? Seems starting in November, there will be a release of a commercial grade version of VR Goggles coming out and in early 2016, Oculus Rift will put their latest version on the market. This will just be followed by other VR Goggles. It would be great to use a headset to not only look around but to help control the aircraft (with the Goggles motion detectors or controls). :pilotfly:
  3. This was kind of the problem I ran into. I seemed to have misplaced my stand-alone A10c Warthog CD but still had the manual and Serial Number. I downloaded the version from the site so I could install it in DCS World but it turned out that the S/N I had was not valid through DCS World. Seems the only option would be to buy the S/N to go with the Downloaded version.
  4. Wow, "8", that worked. Everything I read told me to press "6". I was just surprised that clicking on the dial did nothing. Thank you very much.
  5. Info on how to Fire Rockets needed. Hello. I see this thread is getting very long. I have searched through it and other threads and have yet to find the solution to my problem. I've been trying to fly the mission "Kickin Convoys" but there seems to be no way to activate my Rockets. I've tried to assign functions to my Saitek ST290Pro joystick such as throttle but it never seems to detect the throttle change on the stick. As for Rockets, no matter what button I tried to set, I can never fire my rockets. I can select them and the 10 Rockets do turn Green. After flying this mission several times with no success, I finally noticed the Bomb-Rocket Release Control does change settings BUT the Bomb-Rocket Selector Switch never switches from OFF. I've tried the Keyboard command, Joystick button (I assigned to it) and even using the Mouse. What am I missing?
  6. I too am now using Win 7 Ultimate, x64. It was a lot of work but I managed to upgrade from x32 to x64 and now I'm able to have 14 GB RAM. Yay. Now all I need to do is setup my new case with water cooling and I'll be all set :pilotfly:
  7. I hate to say this, but even though it is a different link, I think it's the same info as the 1st link offered. But both are great links.:pilotfly:
  8. And that's why I think sales are poor. The stores seem to do little to nothing to promote PC titles. If only 2 A-10c Warthogs are placed on the shelf, and the shelves are not well maintained, a customer may not see it or if they do, seeing only 2 may may it look unpopular. These are things that a "bean counter" can't calculate. These are the things that customers think about. Microsoft knew this when they had companies write their code in such a way that they would qualify to have the "Games for Windows" logo put on the box. Allowing the item to be displayed in a better location than any title without the logo. Part of the agreement meant that any title that had the logo had to have the ability to use an XBox type controller.
  9. I'm sure, just like other stores, their numbers will be poor. After all, if they don't stock them (or at least more than a couple), they won't sell enough to make them look good on paper. Look at PC Game sales compared to console. Fewer and fewer titles for PC's and so more and more titles are limited to consoles. Case in point, when was the last time you actually saw a Boxing (not wrestling) title for the PC despite the graphics for sports titles being better on the PC.
  10. I'm confused. Is it good news or bad news that a site that promotes Barbie is selling this great sim.
  11. Maybe that's one of the undocumented features/fixes :music_whistling:
  12. Thank you for the info and I'm happy to say, the version is now 1.1.1.0
  13. Happy to say, Last Friday I received the Boxed version from Amazon (and a friend, thanks). Looks great but where do I go to see the version that's installed? I expected it to be seen on the main menu screen but it's not.:book:
  14. Nice to see that store purchases are still popular.
  15. I'm hoping to get my copy from Amazon.com soon :joystick:
  16. Well, I did not mind digital downloads for "try before you buy" demos but that was it. I saved a lot of money with demos. Too many good sounding lemons out there. But you are right in the direction it is heading.
  17. That's the same problem everywhere around here too. The PC section in all of our Walmarts are getting smaller and the Console sections are getting larger. In GameStop, PC games are limited to 1 side of a small 2 sided rack on the floor. PC games can not be rented here or returned unless for exchange for same title, not true for Console games. :( The retailers make it so hard for us to enjoy our interest, and if you find you don't like it, you're stuck with it . The harder it is to find PC games in stores is what makes certain websites more and more popular.
  18. Seems that the Boxed set is still wanted, even by those that already bought the Direct Download. I too hope to have my Boxed set, in a week or 2 (bought through Amazon).
  19. Don't forget to market to Walmart and Game Stop, for those of us (like me) that don't prefer Best Buy prices.:music_whistling:
  20. Sorry, that comment should have read "My next system will be 64Bit". Actually, it was for my Palm device. The software would not run under any method I used while running 64Bit. Now I have more than 1 Palm device, I can transfer my info between them without using the PC. Also, I was not aware at the time that the change can only be done from 64bit to 32Bit and not back to 64Bit or I probably would not have done it.
  21. Actually, the "career" idea is not a new idea. Microprose used to add it to all their Sims 10-15 years ago. They had ribbons that were earned over a period of time as well as medals depending on mission performance. Sims seemed to have moved in the direction of arcade games since they were bought out by infogrames (later changed to Atari) and then closed. Microprose last title was B-17: The Mighty Eighth. It tracked any where from 12 crewmen to 120. They were just told to release it unfinished during the buyout and never activated the Ranking structure or MP feature so promotions were not possible but there were 12 Medals (highest being CMOH and lowest being Campaign), and 1 (PUC) Ribbon and none were easy to earn and none were earned just for completing a mission.
  22. Yes, I agree, I too like the box art. :)
  23. I originally loaded Win 7 64 bit but switched to 32 Bit. Now I found out that it is not possible to switch from 32 Bit back to 64 Bit without a reload  Win 7 only switches downwards. I was hoping to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB for this sim a while back. My next system will be 32Bit.
  24. As for updates, I can't wait to see what's in store for the Nevada release.
  25. This is good to know, thank you.
