  1. Hello, Is there a way to edit which countries have access to which units? Trying to make a more realistic campaign, where Russian aircraft and pilots are flying under Abkhazian and South Osetian flags; lets us shoot at them without the whole, "Why isn't Russia just nuking everything?" problem that video games seem to love to ignore *cough* Modern Warfare *cough*.
  2. I understand that it's a WIP feature, but as for the upcoming player-controlled JTAC module...does this mean that ground vehicles will be controllable? For example, if the JTAC is a HMMWV unit, will we be able to drive the HMMWV around in addition to the JTAC targeting functions? Or will vehicle motion control be solely just setting waypoints in the ME and you're just "along for the ride"? How did this work in the beta? If JTAC vehicles are player-controlled, is DCS heading towards a full-on war simulator a la ARMA II?
  3. Doh! A week after I paid $40 for it!
  4. Thanks for all the info. For now I've switched it up so that all the A-10s have an ECM and a pair of Sidewinders on the ferry mission. They get to about thirty miles off the Russian coast, and then Abkhazia after that. Plus lots of boats so there are things to look at on the flight. First time I tested it, of course, I forgot to make the player flight and the F-16 escort "invisible", so the Moskva cruiser they passed over made some pretty short work of everything. As Rick Perry says, "Oops." Second mission: observation on Ossetian rebels!
  5. Brief question for realism's sake. On ferry flights (i.e. deploying from U.S. base to a combat theatre), will the A-10s carry Sidewinders and ALQ-184s? Or are these shipped in a cargo aircraft along with a lot of the other support equipment? Thanks, Daniel
  6. Hello all, Is it possible to change which countries belong to which alliance after you have already created a mission? I have one with quite a bit of work on it but I'd like to un-neutral some countries and add Abkhazia and South Ossetia with the new patch, but I can't figure out how to change them. Thanks! Daniel
  7. Thanks guys, these are awesome suggestions, I will try some of them.
  8. Hello, First post here, just recently discovered this amazing sim. I'm starting to build a few missions that I may eventually turn into a full-fledged campaign. The first major question I have is about getting two different aircraft groups to fly in formation or at least in proximity to each other. Is there some way to do this beyond just putting waypoints very close to each other and specifying the same TOTs? I have tried the Escort enroute task but that seems to only determine engagement criteria; it doesn't actually make the Escorting group follow or even go anywhere near any other group (as far as I can tell, there's not even a target for the Escort task, i.e. Start Enroute Task, Escort, Set Group to Escort). What I am trying to do specifically is have a pair of MiG-29s intercept A-10s on a ferry flight as they near Russian airspace, but NOT engage them. Just get close and say hello. The hostilities open up later in the campaign. To keep the MiGs from blowing away the A-10s I just put Russia on the blue side for this mission (there's a lot of civ traffic as well and I didn't want wingmen calling out Yak-40s as bogeys). I have so far set up a trigger zone that when the player A-10 flies through causes the MiG-29s to break away from their orbit and fly to a waypoint very near an A-10 waypoint, with the same TOT. It works if the player is EXACTLY on time, but more than 10 seconds off and the MiGs just seem weirdly far away. Also, if the player does not maintain the specified speed, the MiGs drift away instead of staying in close contact. Any hints on how to accomplish this? Thanks! AngelAtTheTomb
