Hi guys, as I am primarily interested in flying as RIO in Tomcat (multiplayer only) I wonder. The backoffice uses 2 sticks - radar and lantrin, whereas most of our pilots' setup consist of a HOTAS - stick and throttle. Do I need to get a second stick for left hand (Lantrin) or will there be some toggle that moves control of a single stick from radar to lantrin? (I know it's NOT like that in RL, I am just asking if there is a convenience option for typical flying setup, as I do not know a throttle that could easily work as a lantrin grip). If not, I guess I need to look for a second joystick with 3 hats... Oh.. disregard the post. I juuust found out ^_^ the lantrin "stick" does not move - just the hats, so I guess warthog throttle should be enough :)

No, I wouldn't mind at all of course! I created the program with profile sharing in mind, only thing I would not want to become an admin of those uploads :) If there is enough interest I could add a section to the initial post with some links too, for a quick start for instance.
-
That would require some kind of dedicated storage space and I do have one :) It would be also very difficult to control if the program uploaded a profile somewhere - what if the profile contained some abusive text or other information, for instance. I could not deal with the admin overhead that would create - sorry, this feature is not planned at all.

As for multiple keys and different modifiers (not the one pre-defined so alts, ctrls and shifts) this functionality will be available when sequence are released. There you can combine any number of different keys. As for foreign keyboard layout this is somewhat difficult as those are windows key codes that I use (provided by Windows API) and hence I thought them to be somewhat universal - for instance the key you are referring to - "[" - is described in API as "Keys.OemOpenBrackets". But as you said, they are tied to physical buttons rather than to corresponding label. I can try experimenting with detecting key pressed instead of choosing from the list, that should work for any keyboard layout. (Oh, and unfortunately I do not have access to any other keyboard than US so I would need a guinea pig to test it :) ) As for donations, I do have paypal but I do not know the forum rules in this matter so I keep quiet. I am long past coding for money and do it for fun only in some spare time :) Avantar.

I will need to dig into this - I'm not sure that's something Windows lets you do by default but obviously it can be done in somewhat workaround way. I am not sure though if you want to enable overriding plethora of default windows shortcuts that go along with Windows key... that might not be the smartest thing to do

Thanks guys for kind word. And thanks Pac Man for very nice review :) I am in last stages of doing sequences functionality - this has been slightly delayed, but still progressing - pretty sure it will solve the "hornet issue" as you can program exact duration of the press. Of course will post when it's finished. Also, if you find something troubling with the software or simply a bug just let me know - you know, this has been slapped together just in couple of (well, tens, tops) hours between flying, work, family and sleep :) Cheers!

I am almost certain it can - as long as a device uses DirectX it should be visible within RS Mapper. I do not know Virpil equipment though, so I cannot test it directly.

Will try to fix it over the weekend. Stay tuned. EDIT: That was a quick fix, missed one comparison in code. New version 0.45 is already released.

This may me a bug in the software, let me confirm that. On some keyboards keys were switched. I will try to dig depeer into that. Can you try and allocate NUMPAD enter instead? will it show regular enter key?

Hi guys & gals, I am working on a night mission in a remote Iranian area and I wonder - is there any way to add lamp posts or any other kind of lightning to the map? I am building a refinery complex out of static objects but without any kond of lightning it will look very dull at night. Avantar

Thanks, that did it! :-)

Hi all, I believe something has changed in couple of recent patches in regards to how ME handles Stennis' spawn points. I USED TO be able to place 2 flights of Hornet on the deck: 4 on catapults ("take off from runway") and 4 cold & dark on ramps. Now I am able to place only 5 aircrafts: first 4-ship is being placed OK, but no matter what kind of spawn I select for them next flight I try to place on the carrier is limited to 1 plane. When I try to increase flight size I get the message "no parking for this aircraft" (even though, for instance, the previous 4 spawns on the catapult). Is there any way to circumvent this issue? thanks, Avantar

Also, is there a posibility to switch Polish F-16s to be Block 52? It's probably not a major thing as this is AI :)
-
Hi guys, I wanted to add some diversity to my mission and wanted to add a squadron of Polish Vipers in SEAD role. Unfortunately 1. Editor does not list any F-16 model for SEAD mission 2. For CAS mission editor shows only F-16C block 50.. (with correct skin) it's rather strange as Poland has F-16C block 52+, not 50 (and I would do with simple 52s... ) Any ideas how to solve that? Agreed. I just wonder how complex or complicated is integrating the current internal mechanisms of Hornet with work that has already been done. Take Mavericks for instance - they already work for A-10C and even Harrier. The latter is even more important as it, at least in theory, should share some of the systems logic with F/A-18. Wags said in his last statement works are underway on L maverics... why not IR? Without targeting pods it will still have limited use for Hornets :(

Thank you very much.

ok, that would explain this, thank you. Is there any way to add the country to the coalition after I started building my mission?
-
Hi guys, maybe I am doing something wrong - but using Open Beta version of DCS World and Persian Gulf Map - I do not see UAE in COUNTRY drop down list. Is this intentional? Or will there be a UAE added to the editor later? Avantar

Heading in ME & Wind direction - magnetic or grid?
Avantar replied to Avantar's topic in Mission Editor
Thanks, that confirms my understanding. And yes, I did notice longa ago that DCS handles wind ifnormation in a ridiculous way (in aviation you always say where the wind is gusting FROM, not where to). And what is more disorienting ATC will tell you the wind direction in a proper way (that is, 180* opposite what the briefind says). Also, in all my current experience wind also should be given in magnetic heading, not true. But I can live with that. thanks again. -
Hi guys, I am playing with mission building for some time and since I wanted to place carrier juuust right I stumbled upon a problem: Is the wind direction used in Mission Editor magnetic or true? To explain: in ME to make carrier route *exactly* north I placed two waypoints with the same longitude. because of how the globe translates into flat map I ended up with route going diagonally to the left (along the grid lines), which is fine and what I expected. but, the *heading* tool from the ME shows the course 354 instead 0. If I set the wind heading 180 in the ME - will it be the same as heading shown by the map tool? Also - if I measure heading along the flight paths with the map tool - will it be exactly what my HUD will show when flying from one Wp to the other or will it be off by couple of degrees? (6 in case of Caucas) Thanks! Avantar.

Ok, let's try to solve it. can you send me the .RSMapper file you are using, also - which plane you are trying to use? Avantar

Wow, I wasn't aware that Dash One for F-15E is available. I checked a year ago and all I could find was an A and C models
-
Hi again. I've read F/A-18C NATOPS, pre-release manual and some other material and was not able to find any reference saying the master mode switch needs to be pressed for certain amount of time to work. I also checked F/A-18C on my machine and if I press A/A mode ('2' key) using the keyboard it switches to AA instantly. When I call if from joystick button (not toggle switch) it is as you say - only continuous work. Also, the key settings page in DCS registers input correctly, only for some reason in cockpit action does not occur. I think there might be some lag due to complexity of the cockpit and hence the message is either lost or not registers timely. Since the command is triggered correctly from RS Mapper and even shows OK on the settings page I am at a loss how to fix it. I will try to engage the tech support to understand this behavior but I would not count on much. For now I will list this as a "known limitation" of the RS Mapper. Avantar

Ok, that gives me an idea. I will check the F-18C NATOPS manual, I remember reading that for some functions you need to press the button for more than (I can't remember, 0.5s?). If it's implemented like this then you need to use continuous option to really press this that long. Long press will not work in this case as this mimics A-10C controls: "wait 1s and if still pressed send single command", not "send the key continuously for 1s". Will let you know what I've found. Avantar.

Apparently some initial tests shows that current 120B implementation does not signal Pitbull, and is not different from AIM-7 in terms of performance (range, hit chance ect).
