  1. Donation made. Looking forward to your app for this. I'm not familiar with programming--what are the implications of having to communicate over sockets? Thanks, Paul
  2. Hi ArturDCS, My own personal choice would be the radio panel. While I would certainly put the multi panel to use, I already have many of the functions programmed on my HOTAS. On the other hand, an up front radio would be great to use as opposed to clicks on the screen. I once contacted Saitek and asked about rumors that they themselves were going to develop software to allow these panels to work in DCS. They got back to me and said they have no such plans. I'll send another note to Saitek and ask them to work with you and/or others who want to write this software. Who knows, maybe it will help. Thanks, Paul
  3. Hi ArturDCS, I'm in. If you can set up an account with PayPal to accept donations and set goal of $300-$400, I'll make a contribution. I'll pledge $30 to start. I'll offer more if you don't get enough takers. I'll watch this thread for the next steps. Thanks, Paul
  4. Hi Sabre-TLA, Thank you very much for taking time to look at this. That is correct That's a good thought, but in this case I am killing the group well before they reach the second trigger zone when testing this. This is a good idea. I'll try to rework the triggers and see if that clears the issue. Again, I appreciate your time. The mission itself is not really affected by this, it's more of an annoyance. However, this might point to an underlying bug in Mission Editor. Thanks, Paul
  5. There is a faulty trigger in a mission I created that I can't seem to fix. It's probably premature to post this as bug in Mission Editor as it could be something I did to the trigger at some point. If anyone is inclined to have a look, it would be appreciated. This is a simple multiplayer mission set up with cold and warm start A-10As and A-10Cs. If and when played as a single-player mission, I recommend using unlimited weapons. Upon destruction of a house, a convoy of three trucks is created. The group is labeled "Getaway." This group becomes available for targeting and destruction after it enters a trigger zone labeled "Engage." If the group is not destroyed before it reaches a second trigger zone labeled "BreakOffAttack," a message is displayed and a sound file is played that says to break off the attack. This sound file is named "track08b.ogg." However, if the group is destroyed sooner, a jeep is spawned, a message is displayed and a different sound file plays saying to stand by while the jeep is tracked. This sound file is named "track06b.ogg." Here's the bug in my mission: When the group labeled "Getaway" is destroyed between the trigger zones, both of the above mentioned sound files are played simultaneously. The sound file named "track08b" should not be played in this scenario. Short of rebuilding the mission from scratch, I tried a number of things to fix this. I made new trigger sequences and deleted the originals, I renamed the sound files and the trigger zones, all to no effect. There is some artifact in the underlying mission code, I believe, that I can't reverse. Thanks in advance to anyone who has a look to see if they can offer any advice. Sincerely, Paul (a.k.a. Skeeter) Hideout-V26.miz
  6. Thanks Oesau. My pleasure. Paul
  7. Switch Labeling Template For anyone who might find this useful, I made a simple template for relabeling the switches on the Saitek Switch Panel. I will attached a dimensiond graphic along with an example that I made for the A-10C. I did the original template in SketchUp and I will attach that file as well. If you use SketchUp, you can simply add your own text. Hope this helps. Paul Switch Panel A-10C Setup.zip
  8. Did a search to see if the C-130 can drop paratroopers and found this thread. I'll add my vote to those who think this would be a great addition to DCS World. Thanks, Paul
  9. I don't know if this observation will help, but the first time I replayed the mission using the track file I saw the same 10 second lag in updating the MFD/TGP image. However, I came back later after shutting down DCS World (not the PC itself) and re-ran the track file. This time there was no delay. I did not fly any manual missions after restarting DCS World--I just played back the track file. I use a fourth monitor to display both MFDs. I was not watching the MFD in the 3D cockpit view, so I can't say if it showed the same delay as what was seen on the 4th monitor. Again, hope this helps. 10. Log Files Attached I re-flew the mission in order to capture fresh files and observe the error once again. In one instance I had three Mavericks in the air and watched the targets on an MFD/TGP screen. Just before the first impact the MFD/TGP froze and stayed frozen for 10 seconds. As far as I could tell, just the MFD/TGP image froze, i.e. the rest of the game continued. I did not see any of the three impacts in real time. When the MFD image unfroze, it showed the aftermath of the attack. In a second strike on other targets the MFD/TGP image froze for six seconds. However, in one or two cases the image did not freeze and I could see an impact in real time. I had just one bomb in the air that time or two. Track, log and dxdiag files attached. Thanks, Paul DxDiag.txt Logs.zip Training.trk
  11. Will do. Thanks for the info. Paul
  12. Since updating to 1.2.8 I'm seeing a seconds-long lag in updating the A-10C TPG view in the MFD. Particularly after a weapon impact the view simply freezes, i.e. you can't watch the impact in real time, if at all. When the MFD view catches up, it's all over. Never had this view update lag in 1.2.7. Hope this helps and that it can be fixed. Thanks, Paul Edit: This actually affects game play in that you can't use the TGP to sight another target while the view is frozen. This was the bigger problem for me than the delayed view itself.
  13. Thanks for the replies. I ended up simply uninstalling 1.2.7 and installed 1.2.8 from scratch. All seems well now. It appears most if not all of my personal settings were retained in my "Saved Games" folders. No idea what went wrong, but I guess this happens occasionally. Thanks again, Paul
  14. I have been trying a number of things to get the update to take. I have tried using the updater from the DOS prompt, but no luck. I used the updater from DOS to take my install back to 1.2.7. The notice said 1.2.7 installed. As soon as I opened DCS World it said an update was available and I let it do the update. The notice then said 1.2.8 successfully installed, but it actually did not. I was right back where I started. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  15. I successfully updated DCS World from 1.2.7 to 1.2.8 on one PC, but not on another. On the second PC, the update appeared to have occurred, but the main menu page still shows 1.2.7. However, some modules show 1.2.8 while others still show 1.2.7. I can't do repair or update. The install thinks it's at 1.2.8, but it isn't. Any idea as to how I can get my install to update? Thanks, Paul
  16. Hi ArturDCS, After updating to v1.5 things are working. I'm using 10 seconds for the ignition time ("Start" location of turn knob) and the engine starts up as expected. Thank you again. Also, I was going to re-install the driver just in case it was updated as well, but I can't locate the proper device in Hardware Manager. Did the device ID change after installing your driver? That might be in this thread somewhere, so please forgive me if it was covered before. Take care, Paul
  17. Hi ArturDCS, I finally found the time to install your application and I love it! It's working great in both DCS and X-Plane. Thank you very much for all of the time and effort you put into this. I do have a question for anyone familiar with X-Plane, though. I have most of the switches mapped correctly, but I can't quite figure out what to map the "Start" position of the rotary knob to. None of the mapping selections within X-Plane that I have tried so far will actually start the engine (I'm flying the Cessa 172). Any help with X-Plane mappings in general will be appreciated. Thank you again, ArturDCS. It's a great program. Sincerely, Paul P.S. -- I did a little more checking and it looks like I am mapping the knob position "START" to the correct setting in X-Plane, which is "engines/engage_starters," but I need that input held until the engine actually starts. It appears that my key commands are only being sent for five milliseconds. Is there a way to either extend that or to make the knob setting (START) hold the key commands indefinitely, i.e. as if I am continuously pressing the keys? Once the engine starts I would then move the knob to the "BOTH/ALL." P.P.S. -- ArturDCS, I thought you might like this. Ironically, and thanks to your application, I am getting more functionality out of my Pro Flight Switch Panel within DCS than I am within X-Plane. While I have all of the switches, selector knob positions and the gear lever mapped in DCS, I don't use many of these functions in X-Plane. Thanks again.
  18. Ditto the above. FC3, P-51D, UH-1H Huey and A-10C all took double activation hits for me on two different PCs. I posted a trouble ticket as well and will provide whatever information is needed. As I mentioned in my ticket, I noticed that two different hardware IDs are being applied to each PC in the registration history list. Thanks, Paul
  19. Hi ArturDCS, I haven't used the program yet, but intend to use it with DCS A-10C and X-Plane. Thanks, Paul
  20. Thanks again, Flagrum. That's my guess as well, but I just wanted to check in case I was missing something. Maybe the author had something in mind that never got added. Paul
  21. Hi Flagrum, Here is how the trigger is set up: TYPE: 1 ONCE (THRT 4 ACT, NO EVENT) CONDITION PART OF GROUP IN ZONE (THRT 4, THRT 4 ZONE) ACTIONS GROUP ACTIVATE (THRT 4) Thanks, Paul
  22. Hi Flagrum. Thanks for the response. I'll post the exact conditions this evening. Paul
  23. I'm deconstructing (OK, cheating on) a certain A-10C single-player mission and I noticed that one of the threat groups activates itself. The flight, call it THRT, takes off and flies into a trigger zone. The trigger is set up so that when THRT enters the zone, THRT gets activated. Any idea what purpose this serves? The waypoints are already set up for search and attack. I'm wondering if this is a mistake in the mission and another action or group should get activated. Just FYI, this is one of the missions that comes with A-10C. Otherwise, I would just ask the person who wrote the mission directly. Thanks, Paul Edit: I guess there aren't any real spoilers here, so the mission I'm asking about is CSAR.miz. Edit 2: I meant Mission Editor, duh. (Mission Planner is yet another flight related program I use).
  24. Thanks for the replies. Funny how your mind plays tricks on you. I could have sworn the notices were clearing before, but it seems all is as it should be. Thanks again, Paul
  25. Hi Yurgon, Thanks for your reply. This action did not clear the warning, but I'll give it another try later today. Was I correct in stating that normally the "NOT SOI" notice clears after a short period of time? I'm fairly certain this was happening, but maybe I'm mistaken. Thanks again, Paul
