  1. Thanks all for the great input and discussion.

I have the symptom where the applicaiton of one wheel brake acts like both brakes are being applied.. the aircraft grinds to a rather immediate halt.

After reading the posts perhaps I'm over-applying that brake instead of the "light touch" recommended by one poster.

We'll try to practice the tail wheel locked and light brake touch approach and see how it works out.

Like anything else I guess.. practice, practice practice.

    Thanks again.

  2. Thanks for the response.

Yes, I've got a full control set-up with pedals and toe brakes. I use the toe brakes independently for the tight turns.

I find that leaving the tail wheel locked in the 6 degree limit inhibits the tight turn to the extent that the aircraft with not rotate as necessary to make the turn radius.

Watching experienced pilots (video), they seem to taxi like sportcars.

  3. Hi,

I need instruction and advice on how to taxi. There must be a technique involved that so far has escaped me.

I understand that stick-forward releases the tailwheel to do whatever it wants to do (it seems). I also understand that stick aft of neutral will limit the turning of the tail wheel to 6 degrees and control by way of rudder input.

The problem I'm having is with turns sharper than 6 degrees and keeping the aircraft rolling as I turn. I'm trying to use rudder input along with the wheel brake to execute the turn. I usually end up in a dead stop before completing the turn.

I'm hopeful that an experienced tail-dragger here can give me a few tips on technique. It would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. Interesting! I've started the game and received no update yet. I just realized this is because I'm still using the old icons on my desktop... they point to Launcher.exe, but they should point to DCS_updater.exe. Check your singleplayer icon, the "Target" line needs to read: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe"

Once again, Update information can be found in [saved games]/DCS/Logs/autoupdate.log

I looked at the text in the autoupdate log and could find nothing describing what was/is addressed in a given update. Additionally, the log is in unformatted text and extremely hard to parse.

I don't wish to "challenge" any update, I just want to know what was addressed in any update. Apparentlly others have made a similar request.

Can a Readme file be provided with the update and stored somewhere in the game directory?

  5. Hi Guys,

Flying P-51D, I've got a problem trying to Quit an instant action mission using the mouse to point/click the "Quit" button in the dialog that appears after hitting excape to exit the mission.

When positioned over the dialog box, the cursor remains a "+" and no button the in dialog box can be clicked.

If I move the cursor above the dialog box, say in the upper 1/3 of the screen, the cursor is redrawn as an arrow (normal).

I have to alt/tab out of P-51, alt/tab back to the Sim and only then is the cursor "normal" and the "quit" button clickable.

I don't recall this happening in the stand-alone P-51, just in DCS World.

Anybody else have this going on?

    Thanks for the help.
