optimised settings for high end gpu's TESTED ON 680
D3vastator replied to D3vastator's topic in Game Performance
it should help others too, to find that balance of eye candy and smoothness.. you will always have people that think the more fps you have the better, it really is not applicable to flightsims.. more doesn't mean better. fps junkies :P -

whats the spec of your system? every system is different but as a general rule I lock fps at 30 fps for flightsims. fluctuating fps takes away any pure smoothness. of coarse you can lower the settings and lock at 60fps. but you wont gain anything other than having the same smoothness and less of eye candy.. -
updated my signature :D that tells what is beneth the skin lol

beleive me I have spent a loooooong time testing out settings and configurations. these ones produce the highest quality while retaining complete smoothness. -
optimised settings for high end gpu's TESTED ON 680

Hi m8. I tried all possible combinations, and this is what worked out the best for the gtx 680. threaded optimisation off did not cure the shimmering at stock settings. 30 fps does not make terrain jitter either for me. you need to try the settings i posted exactly as I have shown. -
have a look at my thread for optimization settings. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=94178 the key here is to get a constant 30 fps and lock them there, this way you dont get the dipping and fps fluctations which causes the loss of smoothness.

@ Griffin, the key is to get a fluid constant 30fps and lock it there, flightsims are different than first person shooters where you need high fps. I pretty much followed the same principles as setting up FSX. unlocked fps cause dips and spikes that result microstutters. @atledreier you are correct, but changeing them to 1024 made no impact on my performance so I left them @ 1024. I do agree they should be left on 512 for single screen setup. -
sweeet, thanks

optimised settings for high end gpu's TESTED ON 680
D3vastator replied to D3vastator's topic in Game Performance
hi, yep all settings as per attached pic. I found the application aa was shimmery and not as smooth as setting it in the nvidia control panel. I also noted that if you look at the cockpit panels some of the edges would shimmer with application aa, with the custom settings this is eliminated. in my opinion and from my testing these are the ultimate settings for dcs on the 3xx drivers. -

hi there, the adaptive half refreshing is only available on nvidia cards with the 3xx drivers. there are other ways to limit your fps to 30 though, firstly you can set the max fps in the graphics.lua file in the config folder of dcs world. MSI also have a frame limiting feature. see http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18360071 I am not very familiar with amd graphics settings either but if you do some research you can prob achieve the same settings download http://downloads.guru3d.com/MSI-Afterburner-2.2.0-Beta-10-download-2839.html hope this helps -
hi everyone. After a many hours of testing for optimal settings I have come up with these and I thought I would share my settings for the highest possible graphics and smoothness for dcs. these settings should work on any highend card eg 570,580,680. you may have to alter the settings if you are dipping below the 30 fps. see attached pictures for all my settings along with some samples. right click and save as and open them using windows viewer set to fullscreen, these are 1920x1080. I achieved these results by setting adaptive half refresh rate (30fps) having a solid 30fps that runs that consistant across the board in all situations including a TrackIR with absolutly no dips is better than have fluctuating fps from 40-50 to 70 etc. I have learnt this from FSX. checkout the samples I think the depth and detail of the images speak for themself :D

cheers m8

Hi all, I am having a issue when I am trying to steer on the ground. it seems I cannot. I have enabled auto rudder in options but still the plane will not turn which makes it near impossible to get the aircraft onto the runway. at present I do not have rudder pedals only the tm hotas warthog stick.. any help much appreciated.

hi all, just wondering what settings other people are using with this card? currently I am, running 4xaa with tssa enabled.

ok nevermind lol, i forgot to plug my hog in :P

hi guys, thanks for sharing this.. small problem though, I have installed the p51 module and activated it, I loaded up a game to test the p51 and then exited, i proceeded to copy these .lua files to C:/User/(username)/savedgames/DCS/config/input/P51D only I have no p51 folder only the A10C folder.. am i missing something?

Hey guys.. anyone care to share their p51 trackIR profile? Thanks :pilotfly:

thanks guys, think im getting sorted now :D downloading the module now
