NightstalkerNOR's post in DCS crash due to memory was marked as the answer
I did a full run on the Greyflag server, relatively unpopulated, no crash but full memory utilization for a couple of minutes until it settled to around 75%.
I believe my fault was to assume that a crash was imminent when the 99% memory utilitzation appeared, instead of continuing to see if it actually crashed. The memory utilization "calms down" after a couple of minutes down to normal levels, e.g. around 70%. I am unable to say for a fact, but I believe that the pagefile is the most likely solution.
Thanks Flappie for following up!

NightstalkerNOR's post in Mi24 countermeasures - low sound, flares was marked as the answer
Somehow (after not made any obvious changes) the sounds are present, and excellent (holy... the new gun/rockets sounds!).

NightstalkerNOR's post in DCS-MT freeze, or will not enter menu at all - VR was marked as the answer
I updated OpenXR toolkit and it seems to run fine now. I need to test a bit more to verify but looking good, so far.

NightstalkerNOR's post in Little to no effect from MT - diagnosing files included was marked as the answer
I am marking this issue as solved. The sim runs smooth in scenarios that previously would put extensive pressure on the computer.
However my question above still stands, so the solution/explanation to the issue is not clear to me, especially what "theoretical FPS is". If anyone have any explanation to add to the post, it would be greatly appreciated.
