  1. I don't get the problem with the Harrier - just memorize some visual cues once plugged in and the next times you just replicate these, done.

Everything is easy once you get to figure it out. In DCS is even a bit "simpler" as the basket somewhat "snaps" on the probe whereas IRL you either hit or miss (but you have a few different "cues" you can't really simulate in DCS, i.e. your body feeling the plane)

  2. The R-27r is a SARH missile AKA Fox 1... it should drop the guidance as soon as the MiG-29 turned and stopped supporting it.

I think it is a AI issue since player guided missiles don't behave this way or it could be a de-sync issue... anyway I hope ED up's the priority on the R-27 family update since it really starting to show and needless trigger people.

Yeah sorry i mixed up Fox1 and Fox3

  3. Recently with Suite 9 we have the ability to put multiple targets in a list, press the pickle button once, and have multiple bombs hit multiple targets simultaneously.

OMG that'd be lovely to have on our old man (suite 3 i believe?)

  4. I would like to know if is it possible to open (put up) this fire protection wall by my self?

If I land and want to take off ones more, I would like to put it up after on position for take off.

I think it comes up once you line up and pressy 'U' (default keybind IIRC) to "lock" the plane in place. Wheel stoppers and deflector should come up.

Though this is a bit OT as it's more of a "FC subforum request"

  5. ...

The cockpit image above shows a wonderful perspective that sims currently don't seem to grasp that well. That being just how cramped the f16 appears. The (icp?) Panel and hud seem to be far closer to the pilot than any of the other instruments

    ...

This is an issue with portraying a 3D space onto a 2D screen, plus some FOV side-effects.

The only real solution to this is VR which of course gives an incredible 3D perception

  6. Hi Glyn

Can you let me know which campaign? is it an ED one or user created?

It maybe a case of just re-saving the mission

He already confirmed it is not strictly campaign-related as it happens on a separate mission he put togeter with just an F18 and a Tanker in the ME

thinking it was a mission corruption set up new simple mission at night simple F18 and K130 AA refuel. Same thing tanker not lighting up on approach. ( Using correct radio procedures and getting correct responses plus ability to refuel)

    EDIT: Sniped by OP :book:

  7. Performance in MP is generally lower than in SP for various technical reasons.

How many FPS are you squeezing out in SP?

Also, the complexity and object count of any MP mission along with the number of connected clients can also affect a user's machine performance.

If your CPU bottlenecks your GPU in MP due to higher load due the above, it is "normal" to see the

GPU stay at low boost freq. First thing to do would be to check in the Windows Task Manager (or Resource Monitor) how much CPU/RAM/GPU/HDD is being used. Any of those might be bottlenecking for various reasons

  8. So far I was under the impression that the aircraft includes a terrain elevation database, and calculates the target position as the position where TGP line of sight intersects with the ground. As a result, any dynamic object (car, tank, truck, tent, and so on) would be excluded from the calculation

    Yes exactly.

That's why you would need to lase the actual "dynamic object" to have a very precise position/elevation calculation (see my point below)

...If you lase a spot for an accurate measurement and then stop lasing, the accurate measurement goes away immediately, and the calculation goes right back to LOS ground intersection. At least that is my current understanding of how the system works...

I'm not 100% sure as my knowledge comes from just what i've read over the years on the web, though it should be that once you lase you "keep" the corrected position until you move the TGP again, at which point it goes back to LOS/Focus calculations

  9. Axis curves have a HUGE impact on how difficult it is to AAR or to fly formation or even just fly in general.

Apart from that, if you feel good flying with your setup and you are confident you are in full control of the aircraft, just make sure you have:

    1. set the proper tanker frequency (unless easy comms option is enabled)

    2. make sure you are calling the tanker on the proper radio (different keys for COM1 and COM2)

    3. make sure you get cleared to rejoin, then position yourself in pre-contact position (lots of videos on youtube showcasing this)

    4. report "ready precontact" to the tanker and recieve a "cleared contact" (or nothing if you're not in the right position)

    5. approach the basket slowly and steadily and it will connect just a moment before you actually "touch" it
