I disagree with this giving the 15 more capab. - POSSIBLY in a bvr situation where the non-f15 wishes to stay bvr. Notch him till you're visual, fire all you've got and barell out those rams - done :(. Currently fighting missiles with aspect will kill your chance to break it, pretty much, since it quote : takes into account how many chaff are in view :unquote. Meaning the only way to break em being chaffing while heading towards the missile and then getting the hell away from it. I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this and that it will actually be adressed in BS, but from what I've heard this is not the case.
-
I'm really sorry to spoil your fun here...I partially agree with both previous posters, but... WAFM or WASM wont be implemented into lomac with BS, possibly later on, but from talking to the testers this will not be the case with BS' initial release. As for not being able to outperform the amraams in terms of maneuverability, I must disappoint you again. No physics changes whatsoever to amraam in BS. What WILL be changed is chaff resistance, meaning you will have an even less chance of dodging a missile if you employ countermeasure techniques. This is at least the info I got from GrayGhost. You will STILL be able to "turn at last second and win", unfortunately. This even more reduces the capability of the already ...NERFED f15 =). They could fix this easily through increasing the proximity fuse range of missiles, but I dont see that happening anytime soon. Currently it's something like 10-15 m from the center of the aircraft.

Well imo it's kind of pointless if I cannot post examples from both cards, and since I don't own the 7800gtx any more, that might get problematic...
-
I dont have any screens, but the same settings with my 7800gtx as my 8800gtx, the 8800gtx looks significantly better, much like you're saying I believe the 8800 runs with a lot fewer optimizations, simply because it doesnt need em :)=

E6400 OC'd to X6800 levels on air cooling
GiGurra replied to britgliderpilot's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can run mine stable now at 3,6 GHz stable with my new cooler, but the temps are a bit worrying, so I just run it at 3,4. I'm going to lap(sandpaper the surface) my E6600 soon so I can improve the temps a bit. -

E6400 OC'd to X6800 levels on air cooling

E6600 is one hell of a cpu :) With OC and STOCK COOLER(!!) mine does 14 sec superpi 1M -
Great info, I'm sure to get one once they arrive to stores here :)

Very nice pic in your sig cali! I'm seing an average of 50%-100% more fps when running with AA & AF on. With them off I get even more of an increase from before. As someone said, in about a year perhaps we can max out lomac graphics. This game sure is scaleable :)
-
Those were the numbers. I dont know how. Perhaps I was doing something wrong with the opty, but those were the numbers I got =/
-
Yes thats what I meant with shoving everything else to other cores. But in lomac for example quad isnt faster than dual. (unless quad uses another setup of ram =) For future apps yes I agree quad is much nicer than dual, but is simply too expensive for me atm.
-
Well there's really no advantage at all in lomac with more than 2 cores. The program is single-threaded so you can only run the game on one core :) What you do is you shove all your other programs and processes to your second core and set lockon to run on the primary. The results I've seen on the AMD 4x4 so far are....disappointing to say the least. That was gonna be my first pick as well, or a core 2 quadro, but those turned out so friggin expensive! But as you say the upcoming native 4core-CPUs from AMD might be something to look out for :)

Well I recently aquired an 8800gtx@625/2000 in an attempt to improve my fps. Unfortunately it only improved ever so slightly. I was then running what I thought to be pretty heavy stuff: Opteron 165@2,4 GHz, 2gigs of ram. With a specific track I tested my fps at a certain point: approx 95. Then I decided to try it out with an E6600@3,33Ghz. The results were amazing. I never expected anything like this. I got 250fps (!!) at the same spot. Now I am able to run the game at close to all high details 8xAA(transp+GC)/4xAF(UnOptimized) with the fps pretty high. In MP games I guess it dips down to 55-60fps in some very heavy situations(fights close to cities & so on), but my game runs on avg around 80-120 fps. This was entirely impossible with the opty, so all you a64 users out there I sincerely recommend the Intel Core 2 duo if you have performance issues! I really used to be an AMD fanboy - in fact this is my first Intel system _ever_...But uh oh has that changed now :smartass:

I've been looking for a way to put my f15 TEWS on my second monitor, but have thus far not been able to. I've read that the only way to do this is to clone the image (done) and then zoom in on the desired area with the secondary display. Now here's the problem. My secondary monitor doesnt have zoom controls! Is it possible to solve this problem through the nvidia drivers? (I have 91.47) Is there any third party software I can use to fix this? Powerstrip perhaps? System specs below: DC opteron @ 2,4 GHz 3gigs ram 7800gtx 19" primary lcd DVI, 17" sec lcd analog

Gradual ingame slowdowns, possible mem leak?
GiGurra replied to GiGurra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
All right, lets hope for the best. Debris fits the description perfectly. Why not just replace debris models with some sprites? =) -
Ok I have now tried several different drivers, hardware, windows installations but nothing seems to work. First of all I wish to point out that I dont have this issue with any other games, but in lockonI see this on several different computers(honestly all lockon machines I've tried has this problem). I do NOT have this problem in any other game, and I can assure you that this is not a hardware throttling issue :) Symptoms ======== The problem isnt visible when I join a server. Everything starts fine, the first few fights run fine at 60+ fps, but then it begins to drop. The game gradually slows down, and after 5-10 respawns the fps at take-off (which was around 60-70 just a while back) is now down to around 30. I notice that the OBJ, Trg and Main numbers in the [ctrl+backspace twice] have increased considerably, like if the game wasnt removing old fires on the ground and stuff like that. Looks like a memory leak to me. The only way to remove this problem at the moment is for me to move back to the coalitions screen and then hit fly again. Then the fps is back to its normal 60-70. The situations where I measured are as close to identical as possible. EG i respawn ingame, look at fps, round 30, quit, hit fly, look at fps, 70. =/ This is consistent on all my computers and driver-/windows setups. The only possible way to remove the issue partially seems to be disabling effects completely, but ofc we do not want that (since that also disables high-flying contrails and high-g contrails). Atm this is causing me to have to hop back into the coalitions screen pretty frequently, and is VERY annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Systems I've tried so far. All experience the problem above. ============================================ #1 : /my main/ Dc Opteron 165@2,4 GHz 3gigs of ram 7800 gtx #2 coreduo 1,83 GHz 2gigs of ram ati x1600 mobility #3 a64 3200+ 1gig of ram x800xt #4 a64 X2 4400+ 2 gigs of ram 2x7800gt SLI #5 a64 X2 4400+ 2 gigs of ram 6600gt

Concerning the F-15s inability to IFF properly
GiGurra replied to GiGurra's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I hope the Devs will read and reply to my email. I'm not counting on it though =( -
Below is a copy of an Email I sent to the DEVs. Hopefully they and people here will agree with me, at least partially :) ====================== Dear devs There's one thing in how the f15 has been modelled that I find questionable, and thats the impossibility to IFF in non-BVR modes. At the moment the only way to IFF is to use BVR mode ("2") and NOT lock with the radar. When you're in a close fight with someone or when on a public server with lots of enemies and friendlies, IFF becomes almost impossible (except in squad battles where you can ask on Teamspeak/Ventrilo). For example if two contacts are approaching you from less than 2-3 miles and from like 30-40 degrees above or below you. If you try to slew the radar in that situaion, they will have fired/shot you down/moved already before you can IFF. I've thought about this a long time, and at the moment this is probably the most limiting feature of the F15. Would it be possible for you to add this ability in a hotfix/quick patch? I find it highly unlikely that the systems in the F-15C cannot identify while having a lock, although it can without a lock! On public servers I am currently forced to fly the Russian planes only, and I would like to fly planes on both sides. A fix is urgently needed, especially on small public missions with lots of players, where you are engaged by several bandits at the same time, while being backed up by several friendlies. Also a short note that isnt as important, would be the deceleration of the Aim-120C. After analyzing it's flight path in TacVIEW (ACMI analyzer) we have seen how it loses its speed very fast after it motor burns out, much faster than the R-77 for example. Now the problem is not the idea of an ETA difference. It's the magnitude of the difference that's debateable. Currently the R77 reaches it's target almost twice as fast as the aim120. I believe it would be good if you gave the 120 a __slight__ speed boost (or less air friction). Hope to hear from ya soon! //Johan "Gurra" ************ Former member of http://www.ironangelslockonsite.com ====

Is there any way to completely disable fog/haze for testing purposes? I know there will be ugly clipping, but I need to know if some things work or not.

Great, guess this will never be fixed =(

Missiles without plumes/trails online
GiGurra replied to *Rage*'s topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This happens all the time for me. About 50% of all 77s and ETs are invisible -
G'day people. Me & my friends have a serious problem. Some of us can see missile contrails from heavy contrailing missiles like ETs, already from 40+ km, while others like me only see them from less than 25 if at all. We've tried reinstalling the game (deleting all old config files ofc), using and not using modman to set viewing ranges, testing all default viewing ranges, but still no result. Also some of us see big light flashes from the enemies when they fire. For example 2 of us testing BVR fighting over water @ around 7000 m. Missiles fired at maximum range, and contrails can be seen by some of us, but not by all. Sometimes we dont even see our own missile contrails (I'm talking about ETs & R-77, so contrails should definately be visible). Any suggestions on forcing visible range for missile contrails? Comp specs are: 4000+ a64 3 gig ram 7800 gtx I really need to get this fixed :/. Tried different drivers, cant see I've seen any difference. Just installed 91.33, gonna have a go with these.
