  1. I understand :) Hope the build goes well!
  2. Hey, one quick note that may be handy for you in advance - if the monitor you want to fit in the instrument panel section isn't 17" (if it's larger, like mine), you'll need to cut away part of the two pieces that fit behind the 6mm instrument panel and slot into the front base. Have fun! (Also, I haven't checked your files, but are you using the updated stick hub that's 2.5cm higher than the original? You'll need it!) Check out my build here if you're interested: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773478/XRay_s_Pit#Post3773478
  3. I can't help with helios, but I do just want to say that that panel is absolutely stunning! :D Awesome work!
  4. Ah, now that's a simple and effective solution - wiring the two sides of the switch to the same input. Thanks! I think a small change is going to be made next time I get the soldering iron out :D
  5. Well, I use two places for buying switches, and the better one was closed last time I went :D I had the "gotta get it done now" bug and settled on the throw switch. However, I also spotted some locking switches in the less great place... pricey but very tempting... (And hey, if you ever find yourself back in Tokyo, I owe you a drink for the youtube tutorials and everything :D )
  6. Thanks TigerShark - I'll try a few things when I get around to planning that panel in earnest. For now I'm taking a break since this is finished: :D See my build thread here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773478/XRay_s_Pit#Post3773478
  7. Hey Warhog, all I know is the manufacturer of mine (I use Japanese boards called "revive usb" by AssemblyDesk) says that joining more than two to a single usb hub can result in problems. If you keep the usb inputs separate, maybe you can still fit a few more in? (I am also succumbing to switch fetish and am planning my third panel now :D )
  8. Yeah, I wanted to get a double throw momentary for it, but I'm having trouble sourcing them right now. I am glad at least that the canopy can be opened AND closed with a switch... for a moment I was worried it wouldn't be possible without a left click/right click mouse command. Anyway, my electrical power panel with conjoined canopy switch and non-realistic "eject button" is now complete, except for leds. Waiting on delivery of some resistors. Question 2: (although this is something I should just take the time to check myself) Say you want SAS switches, but consider it a waste of four inputs to devote four real switches to them. Is it possible to make a single "SAS switch" and have it flip all four switches in-game?
  9. That seat is awesome, and I hope someday to be able to follow these more complex panel building methods! This electronics beginner is about to start fumbling with leds in the next couple of days...
  10. Scruffy - thanks a bunch for specifying that the off command for a switch can just be a repeat of the on command. I was wracking my brains trying OFF and OFFRESET and OFF/RESET and all sorts before I saw that. Question: Can anyone think of a good solution for the canopy open/close switch? I'm using a DPDT switch for it, but at present all I can do is flip it to "open" to both close and open the canopy. Is it possible to apply two "buttons" from the same controller to a single function?
  11. Mate, I don't know whether to congratulate you or throttle you... Congratulate I guess! Seeing you finish yours so quickly brings a tear to my eye. I just finished mine as well, have a look if you're interested: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773478/XRay_s_Pit#Post3773478
  12. Well, I just completed my cockpit using Jedi and Hammer's plans. Thanks to you both! Go check out the full build thread over at SimHQ: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773478/XRay_s_Pit#Post3773478
  13. It should be that simple, shouldn't it? Even when I've added English and changed the priority so English takes precedence when starting a program (so it's basically the default language), the delete button greys out when selecting Japanese. Nothings ever simple eh? Thanks very much for the ideas, I've already got further with your help than I was doing on my own^^
  14. First, to Verana_ss, I was all ready to call you my hero 'cos when I removed English from my Language Bar I became able to enter Multiplayer without the L-Shift trick. Unfortunately the Single Player problem remains. @Speed: Thanks for taking a look. I don't really know much about how to read the .log file, but I get the feeling this won't be very useful: 00000.000 INFO EDCORE: createSerialQueue IOQueue 00000.063 INFO VFS: Using 'Saved Games': "C:\Users\Alex\Saved Games" 00000.064 INFO DCS: DCS/1.2.3.9871 (x86_64; Windows/6.1.7601) 00000.085 INFO Dispatcher: 2013/3/8 17:35 V1107131420 00000.175 INFO NET: events.lua loaded 00000.178 WARNING LOG: 1 duplicate message(s) skipped. 00000.178 INFO NET: loading ./Scripts/net/default.cfg : OK 00000.178 INFO NET: loading C:\Users\Alex\Saved Games\DCS\Config/network.cfg : OK 00000.179 INFO NET: loading ./Scripts/net/net_types.lua : OK 00000.179 INFO NET: default_conn is 3 00000.223 INFO SOUND: loaded 507 sdefs from "sounds\sdef" 00000.227 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: Using device ID:'{0.0.0.00000000}.{5438d800-bbe4-443e-9cf3-c79f89a240d3}' Name:'スピーカー (Realtek High Definition Audio)', channels: 2 00000.227 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: channel layout: Headphones/Stereo 00000.235 INFO SOUND: Using SSE FTZ mode. 00000.242 INFO WorldPlugIns: Loaded plugin module CockpitBase.dll 00000.385 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/A-10C/entry.lua 00000.386 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/Su-25T/entry.lua 00000.386 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/tech/CombinedArms/entry.lua 00000.386 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\tech\CombinedArms\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.386 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/A-10C/entry.lua 00000.386 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/entry.lua 00000.386 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\Flaming Cliffs\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/Ka-50/entry.lua 00000.387 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\Ka-50\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/P-51D/entry.lua 00000.387 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\P-51D\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: PLUGINS START------------------------------------------------- 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: A-10C Warthog by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Su-25T by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Combined Arms by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Flaming Cliffs by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Ka-50 Black Shark by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: P-51D Mustang by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.387 UNKNOWN WinMain: PLUGINS DONE-------------------------------------------------- 00000.397 UNKNOWN WinMain: ./MissionEditor/data/scripts/unitsclasses.lua loaded 00000.399 UNKNOWN WinMain: ./MissionEditor/data/NewMap/classifier.lua loaded I should note that I'm having to close the program through the Task Manager each time. Also, when the GUI comes back up, the mission debrief shows the details from my last multiplayer session. Edit: About the language bar: My default language is Japanese, and I can't seem to set the system language to anything else, or set English as the default, or remove the Japanese. Could this be causing the problem?
  15. Hi all, I usually post on the SimHQ forums so this is my first time here. I'm a regular flyer on Eno's firehouse server. I'd like to mention an issue I'm having because I'm worried that sooner or later I'm going to end up being totally unable to fly DCS on my PC. Let me explain: In 1.2.2, the Multiplayer desktop shortcut didn't work. The desktop loading screen would just hang there not doing anything. I didn't think it was a problem since I could go through the GUI instead, so I ignored it. When I installed 1.2.3, I got the same desktop loading screen freeze for EVERYTHING. Starting Multiplayer from the desktop, Multiplayer from the GUI, Single Player from the GUI, the works. :helpsmilie: I'll explain what I've done so far: Tried to install via the installer to begin with. My PC went into power save mode during the download, so it cancelled, and at this point I didn't know about the Start Menu installer command. So, I uninstalled, backed up and deleted my config folder, downloaded 1.2.3. and the A-10C module, and installed those. This is when the problem appeared. So I rebooted. Same problem. I uninstalled, manually deleted everything from Program Files, deleted the entire DCS World "Saved Games" directory, and reinstalled. What I found was, DCS World with no modules installed actually worked (I can fly the SU-25T). It's when I install A-10C that things go bad. I tried a few more reinstalls, reboots and repairs, but nothing helped. I also reinstalled 1.2.1 (and checked it... it worked fine) and used the auto-updater to update to 1.2.3. Again, no dice. NOW HERE IT GETS STRANGE: I heard someone mention forcing the registration page with L-Shift when starting Multiplayer, so I tried it. Multiplayer worked normally. No registration page... just multiplayer as normal. Doesn't work through the GUI. I still can't fly offline at all. This L-Shift trick seems to be working OK for now, but seriously, the threat of completely losing access to DCS is a bit of a worry. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Have I done something wrong? *Final pertinent information* - I generally fly with only TS and TrackIR running in the background. - I have a Japanese PC (I live in Japan) - I'm running a GTX560. - I really wanna get flying normally, guys. :helpsmilie: Thanks for reading!
