Thanks - looks that way in SAP manual 1.2 too. Looking forward to the mixed reality release whenever it comes… Still a bit befuddled by the key bindings. I’m sure I’ve seen a video somewhere where DCS just picked them up from SAP but looks like I shall have to allocate them manually.

Hello collective wisdom… TG MIP arrived today (bar the UFC) and I thought I’d plug it in and get going. Assembly and installation a breeze via SAP. Two issues at this early point… 1. MPCD bindings are random. Buttons on MPCD A and B both seem bound to MPCD C. It’s not particularly apparent in the SAP manual what I am doing wrong. Are bindings set in SAP or in DCS settings pages? 2. MPCD screens don’t work in VR mode? I’d be grateful for a steer please… thanks!

Very nice reply from Winwing: they are sending a replacement tootsweet and have asked me to hold onto the base; the implication is that they will ask me to send it on to another buyer at their cost. A form of distributed logistics! I’m OK with that but do travel a fair bit so worry that I might let them down… But - accentuating the positive, great service!

I ordered the takeoff panel and got the Orion joystick base. Obviously I am up on points… but wanted the panel! Do I raise this with Winwing? What are their reverse logistics like? Am I going to be fedex’ing for months? I have a TM Warthog HOTAS so wasn’t really looking for a new stick, however, I am getting the Orion KA-50 combo (provided that arrives as specified) so could get the swappable throttles, and sell the (7yo) HOTAS on… options, options… Raise it with Winwing, keep it or sell it on?

At the risk of the inevitable answer of 2 more weeks, when does this map go to general release?

Hello all, Having just reinstalled DCS I think I've defined a strange screen resolution. So now on the boot screen I can't access the settings button. Is there a shortcut to launch settings - or a config file I can delete to be able to redefine it? Thanks!

Spot on. However I would say that GE in rotary is much more complex, for example if you climb a helicopter from HIGE to HOGE you will require more power. However if the 'wind shadow' of nearby hangars diminishes and you get a stronger and cleaner wind gradient then you will be hovering in cleaner air and may see a power benefit. Relative to the air you are beginning to transition to forward flight and leave ground effect, whilst still apparently remaining in the hover. Additionally, hovering alongside buildings again can distort ground effect as the building can cause increased recirculation on that side of the aircraft. Not all military simulators correctly model these effects so it would be unfair to expect DCS to!

If you need to ground taxy in a wheeled helicopter it's generally because you either want to minimise downwash or you can't achieve hover in ground effect and need to do a rolling takeoff to achieve translational lift and the reduced power demand it brings. Hover taxy and departure tends to be preferable if it can be done as there is sometimes a risk of shedding a tyre with ground taxying due to increased 'drift' loads on the tyre. The other nice thing about getting into a hover is that it is a good way to do a confidence check of the engines before you transition - nice and easy to do a vertical reject if you lose an engine in the hover (particularly if you have several!), not so nice if you are climbing and accelerating but not yet in the 'above single engine' regime. I've no idea how much of this DCS models - I'm not into Blackshark and am holding out for AH 64D or WAH 64.

There's a huge chimney in Kakanj (Bosnia) where we used to practice throwing our packed lunches into the top, usually on days when the chimney top was poking out of the top of the clouds.

Probably a simple answer but this has been confusing me for a few hours... How do you set up the WH for FC3? At the moment both devices are recognised but (for example) the left throttle is yaw contol and on the right both engines are paired. Is there an FC3 profile yet or am I doing something silly? Thanks.
