K, thx Dooom

In Singleplayer missions, sometimes when I make kills I see the kills register on the top of the screen. Some missions don't register at the top of the screen. Is there some kind of toggle command for this? Did I screw something up? While on the subject... can I toggle on/off the red labels? If so, does it work in Multiplayer?

don't laugh, but I can't find jack using the TGP. Is it normal to rely on the HUD for spotting enemies? I usually end up diving towards my targets with the HUD as SOI, I press "C" to centre my slew controls then slew over targets and SPI them up. (That way I just have to jump to my TGP, make any quick corrections and then jump to MAV and press "V" to slave.) My question is, is there a better way? For example....instead of pressing C in the HUD can I control the actual TGP camera from the HUD? Then I could skip having to jump to the TGP and go straight to the MAV.

In SERPENTS HEAD mission, once you successfully bomb the compound the script says to contact "EYEBALL" the FAC at 131MHz for further coordinates. I set the radio to 131 but cannot find the EYEBALL option in the subsequent LAlt Num+ combo or the \ Just...doesn't even show as an option. Where is EYEBALL?

River Raiders Mission - need advice
Digital Aura replied to Digital Aura's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Well I beat it, but it wasn't any of those ideas. I ended up zooming in within BUK range to get a TGP lock, ran the heck outta there with 3 missiles on me, blowing chaff and evasive manoeuvers. I couldn't get in MAV range but by deeking in and back out and manoeuvering each time they finally expended all their missiles. I think I got lucky. -
The mission itself is straightforward and simple because all the target bunkers are at one of the 6 waypoints. However, the starting location is only a few thousand feet above the sea and somewhere off to the players 10:00 o-clock are a bunch of SA-11s hiding out in a clearing several miles away. My hope is to clear out all the AA with Mavs before bombing the bunkers. But I cannot engage them. I tried skimming the treetops at 700 feet (not advisable) but they saw me coming and got a barrage off instantly. I then tried from 22000 feet and kept getting stung ( I can't even find them using the TGP.) Frustrating. How do I get these SA-11s?? I know how to manouever to dodge them using the 3/9 tactic and countermeasures and it's working well, but I run out of countermeasures almost immediately... there's gotta be 5 of those damn things out there.

I sat around waiting for the Ground Crew...

can someone tell me this... if the airport is listed in the DIVERT pages of my CDU does this mean they are friendlies? Can I expect a refuel/rearm from them? -
THIS!

CANOPY!?! :( are you kidding me!??! I spent 20 minutes going through the power down tutorial on my app and skipped the Canopy figuring what could it possibly matter. You guys yanking my chain? :pilotfly: -
Yes, exactly. It makes more sense in retrospect... and I can see how noobies would simply give up and think there's something wrong with the game tutorials. Indeed, there is a problem... methinks they were written and scripted by experienced sim-pilots who may have lost some context.

 oh. so just because they're in the CDU doesn't mean they're friendlies?? That'd be embarrassing! And potentially dangerous. LOL -
So me and some buddies were doing the Operation Bactria scenario (love this mission btw) and for the first time EVER I managed to empty my fuel tanks and all ordinance without dying. Time to RTB and refuel/rearm (which I've done plenty of times before). So being very low on fuel I go into the CDU to find closest airport and DIVERT to Koleki-Babu or something like that. Textbook landing. I'm thrilled. Taxi to park. I even went so far as to power down everything manually. Then i call in for refuel/rearm. :noexpression: No response. wrong Frequency? Nope. I Alt - +(Num) and cycle down to F8 to call refuel/rearm. Nothing. I try Interphone. (just hitting the \) F8 and wait. Nothing. I power up and move to the runway and try from there. Nothing. What am i doing wrong? Do some airports just have no ground crew?? (The option was not greyed out so I assume I did something else wrong).

SA anti aircraft systems and countermeasures
Digital Aura replied to OssOr's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Good to know. What kind of evasive manouevers are most effective when being tracked by incoming missile? head on? turn 90? Run like hell!? -
To the original poster, I have to say you are absolutely right about the tutorial being very vague and frustrating. I, too, was looking at nothing but ocean when Samuel L Jackson said I could now see my approach to the runway. WTF? It would have been better if the tutorial was triggered by actions rather than by pause/unpause actions using the space bar. Eventually, I got the hang of it myself and the tutorial made more sense when I knew WHEN to hit the spacebar to proceed to the next section. But ultimately, YOU ARE CORRECT! Very frustrating... now go try the Air to Air tutorial!!!!

SA anti aircraft systems and countermeasures

Reading up on the range of AA threats: IGLAs have a range of about 10000 ft and SA-9s and 13s of about 11500 ft and Tunguska just under 20000ft. It seems to me that you should be able to fly above all these things (given they are already at around sea level). Is this not the case? -
Sharing Target data with friends - Multiplayer

Thank you so much!! This method is somewhat unclear... it looks clunky and confusing, what is the purpose of Hook BULL? -

Well I was looking for UTM...but it switches to MGRS. Is that the same thing? -

ahhh man. I knew it was something simple like that. Wow. I missed the obvious. I was looking in the CDU for a message with the coordinates or something. Does anyone know a way of drawing L/L coordinate from the TAD and converting them to UTM? -

'View Profile' in DSMS - behaviour
Digital Aura replied to Digital Aura's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
oh That makes it a little clearer... you're saying that profiles aren't characteristics for onboard weapons but rather templates... I wasn't aware I could make different profiles and save them under different names. I never saw the place to "set the name field". Thanks for that. Still, it seems really confusing the way it is set up. -
You'd think this would be clearer, as I'm sure it's been asked a million times and is covered on Youtube in a few spots. I've searched and searched here but perhaps my query wordings aren't the best. I know your buddy can send coordinates and SPI to you, but I'm a little foggy about being on the receiving end. So, as far as I know... to share a SPI (wedding cake symbol) in the TAD my buddy slews over my aircraft and does a short L-Ctl Up and clicks the SEND OSB on the right. [at least, I think that's right] Then I get an indicator saying NEW TASK MESSAGE or something... so, what's the next step to getting that coordinate and getting it to appear on my own TAD now so that I can slave my MAVS or whatever right to my buddies target? It's just not as clear as I thought and we've been puzzling over it for a week.

I really don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if the DSMS is bugged regarding this but I'd appreciate some feedback: I want to veiw the profile and set up some parameters for GBU-12s, for example, so I click both banks (TER). I then click View Profile... I set to CCRP and then go into the next page where you set changes like AUTO LASE : ON and set the Laser timer to 15 seconds. Then SAVE. Then I get ready for the bombing run... I'm all set... azimuth all lines up... release... no laser activation. WTF? I go into VIEW PROFILE and it's as if I made no changes... all back to default. So I select just ONE BOMB at a time in DSMS and click View Profile. Do the same thing. Just for fun, to see if my changes stick this time I click VIEW PROFILE and it shows the default settings. Furthermore, when I deselect all weapons (that is, NO WEAPONS CHOSEN) in DSMS and THEN go into VIEW PROFILE and select a weapon, the changes seem to stick as long as I don't go back to check and see. (very frustrating and unintuitive, imho) My question is twofold: 1/ Does VIEW PROFILE reset everything back to default? How would I check to see my changes? 2/ Is there something wrong with my procedure to set Auto Lase ON and timer?
