  1. Hello All,

    TIA for help. I have three monitors setup. Ill will add my current .lua below. The picture is spread across the three screen however on screen 2 and 3 the image is down about and inch or so on both the screen. Not sure what to do? Resolution on settings screen is 5760x1080 full screen is off. I cant figure out for the life of me how to bring up the two other screens.

    _ = function(p) return p; end;

    name = _('3 Screen');

    Description = 'Configuration with 3 identical monitors each with its own camera'

    Viewports =

    {

    Left =

    {

    x = 0;

    y = 0;

    width = screen.width / 3;

    height = 1080;

    viewDx = -1;

    viewDy = 0;

    aspect = screen.aspect / 3;

    },

    Center =

    {

    x = 1921;

    y = 0;

    width = screen.width / 3;

    height = 1080;

    viewDx = 0;

    viewDy = 0;

    aspect = screen.aspect / 3;

    },

    Right =

    {

    x = 3841;

    y = 0;

    width = screen.width / 3;

    height = 1080;

    viewDx = 1;

    viewDy = 0;

    aspect = screen.aspect / 3;

    }

    }

    GUI =

    {

    x = 1921;

    y = 0;

    width = screen.width / 3;

    height = 1080

    I wrote this a while ago and you'll get the gist of what you need to do.

  2. LOL. Had no idea. I thought it was a joke until I googled it. Is the view pretty decent? In the original Vive it was nearly useless.

    EDIT: just configured it and tried it. Slight lag turning on but very usable. Normally, I just peak under the bridge of my nose, but this gives me more options.

    Thanks!

  3. Ok, I'm sure these answers are probably buried in this thread somewhere but here are 2 questions:

    1) Where is the best place to preorder? I went to the HP website and clicked the preorder button which brings me to a site called connection.com

    While I have no issue using this site, it seems there is at least one more 3rd party selling the Reverb G2 (something like "bestway" or something?).

    2) I have 1080Ti. My biggest reason for opting for the Rift S vs the G1 was performance worries. Now that I see the G2 can operate at 1/2 resolution and still have an IQ slightly better than the Rift S, I'm all over it. That said, can anyone confirm that the FPS should double at half resolution? I think that is what MRTV confirmed but just wondering if anyone else came to the same conclusion?

    For #2, I think this answers the question nicely:

    Can't help with #2, but a few of us purchased our original Reverb from shopblt.com.

    HP's site/Connection.com is also an option. But at this point who knows what the supply will look like. I preordered on July 1st, and on Aug 12th received the "we're out of stock" message.

  5. Hi Fellow Pilots,

    I have the main i7 rig that I run DCS on, for the most part, quite nicely.

    I also have a Microsoft Surface that I just use for, well what it is designed to do. I was wondering if there was any way, I guess via 3rd Party software, that I could utilize the 'TouchScreen' ability for the MFD's. I mainly am learning the ins and outs of my favorite lady, F/A-18C.

    I was just wondering, that is all

    The UltraMFCD project is back on from SGT_BAKER. And he's working on a networking capability. Although it may be for Android/IOS only. You could ask him here:

  6. I use Acronis Server Software license on my machine that has a Universal license attached for SQL, Exchange, Active Directory with deduplication etc etc.. I havent used the Desktop versions in years tbh but they use the same core and look very alike.

    To keep it simple, follow what hansangb said. I personally have a full backup + 6-day incremental and then delete it all after creating the next full backup on day 7.

    For servers I prefer a Grandpa-Father-Son scheme, much more complicated but allows to go much further back over months. You need serious amounts of space unless you use dedup, which is not available for desktops afaik ( also requires a SQL install and lots of dependencies.

    Keep it simple, that's the best advice....and check them as hansangb said. Nothing worse than a corrupted backup !

    I knew my colleague for about ten years, he worked for a client of mine, who are also personal friends of mine.

    He was a true genius but never shared his wisdom, something that the client still struggles with. Hard to replace if the knowledge died as well. Things happen.

    Dont mess with created jobs, Acronis' weak spot imho.

    Yeah, it's odd that they won't let you scan a directory and "relink" the backup jobs. But I have a dedicated drive so I can keep the filessets in place.

  7. When you launch, you have to spread the risk through the bundle. Everyone that orders gets a set. Once that's been determined, the company can fine tune the amount needed to fulfill the expected orders for various parts.

    Clearly, they didn't count on Wuhan virus rearing its head right after the Lunar new year.

  8. I'm so sorry to hear about your colleague! How long did you know him?

    Which of the Acronis apps do you recommend? Thank you!

    Acronis TrueImage works quite well. It's saved me too many times to count.

    I don't use the CyberBAckup, or continual backup. I have schedule Full BackUps that delete old ones. Also, if you go the Acronis route, go to the Advanced setting and in the Pre/Post backup section, enable the "check the backup after job" (or something like it). Why not spend a little time to validate the backup immediately after creating it!

  9. Is it possible for there to be a conflict between the Warthog joystick and the DCS software? I’m beginning to think so because, when I chop the throttle just before I land on a carrier, the plane doesn’t drop, it floats right on past the wires. If I am right, how can that conflict be found and eliminated?

    Thanks,

    Quick way to test is to use the Windows' built in Game Controller app.

    In Control Panel, search for "joystick" or "game controller" You can choose your throttle, click on Advanced and you'll be able to see Windows registering the movement of the Throttle. See if it looses it's movement.

    Also, make sure you don't have a curve setup within DCS. That's in in game joystick setting to "deaden" the movement of your joystick.

  10. It's more that people are clamouring to pay. I'm quite happy to carry on as is. The least of my interests is to introduce a complicated - both to conceive and maintain - freemium model in terms of that which already exists in uMFCD. So what to do with monies hypothetically paid by those whom insist?

    The best, any only idea, I've considered generally viable is to use funds to persuade ED to pay a tiny bit of attention to uMFCD. A day's work of a single developer on their end removes 100 days of a single developer on this end.

    Or, with the pending apocalypse, could just spend it on hookers and crack. Although I hear bad things about both of those.

    * * * *

    So when optional payments are implemented (which I could set up today, independently of any "crowdfunding" platform) what to do with the pot of cash? Start a hedge fund? In which videos are posted online of people admiring hedges?

    Help me here!

    :)

    --Baker

    I got you. If you need the attention of ED, it'll be easier if you start making money. Hell, offer a split to incentivize them. But I understand that it's hard to work on code that you're not privy to and vice versa. Meaning it's an uphill to work with independents because of the potential fracturing of the code train.

    But I wish you all the luck!

  11. But I got my DCS machine, gaming keyboard, Warthog Hotas, and 1TB ssd coming. But now being so new to this I wasn't thinking about the monitor. I thought that I will just use my existing monitor I have now "not a gaming" monitor but a Dell desktop monitor HDMI connected @ 60Hz. My new machine is a i7-9700K with a 2080 super and 32 gb memory cards. Will this monitor be ok to just start and get things downloaded and running. Can anybody give my any advice on maybe a $200ish monitor?

    Thx,

    FNG out

    How big is your current monitor? For $200 you're probably looking at 27" or so monitor. Which may or may not be much of an improvement.

  12. I don't think I got what you're trying to do regarding freemium and paying ED? Are you trying to incentivize ED into working with you?

    The other alternative would be to crowdfund it. I find that people tend to say "I support it.." until it's time to pay. By crowdfunding it, it eliminates that possibility. And it doesn't interfere with any "free" models (like limited to one plane??) if you want to go down that road.

    I'm OK as is with extracting it manually, but I can completely understand why people are clamoring for this. I wish you the best of luck!

  13. One other question.

    With VR, which would you prefer? TracIR, Oculus, etc....

    I have never used one and I would hate to get the wrong VR headset.

    Some say you cannot wear glasses (I do) and others are on about the size of the lenses...

    Cannot wait to get online after all this reading.

    For me, it's Reverb. I've had DK1, DK2, Rift CV1, Odyssey (original), Vive (original), Pimax5K+. And Reverb is the best as far as I'm concerned. Although I do miss the wider FoV of Pimax5K+, the far superior clarity of Reverb was more important.

  14. Can the AMPCD in the Hornet be read in the Reverb without zooming in?

    Don, before the mission starts (before you hit FLY), I can read the top row POS/INS, UPDT, SCL/40 etc just fine. The left and right are littler harder to read but I can still make them out. The left and right not being *that* clear is the same on my Acer34 Predator monitor. Honestly, the clarity is about the same as my Reverb. Monitor is better, but not by too much.

    But once the mission starts, the map comes up and everything is washed out. Maybe it's my astigmatism coming into play? But then again, it wasn't like that before. This is on the latest beta.

  15. Do you use 60hz setting in WMR?

    You do not use reprojection ?

    The reason I’m asking because being below 90fps in 90 fps setting cannot be smooth without reprojection.

    The reason is that in 90hz if you are below 90fps there actually isnt a new frame produced when needed. This causes non smooth gaming. Its the same for 60hz setting, if going below 60fps there is to few frames to make smooth gaming.

    With reprojection on you should see 45fps if 90hz set and 30fps if 60hz set.

    So smooth gaming can be seen in 90hz with 90fps or 45fps with reprojection.

    And 60hz with 60fps or 30fps with reprojection.

    So here are the settings (all default by the way). As I mentioned, I don't really see glitches or judder. Not in the flight that I mentioned (FA18/PG map, Ready on the ramp Instant action). Also, the WMR screen didn't catch it all, but I have the 60Hz/90Hz setting as "Automatic" which is the default.

    Whatever is the default. I'll double check later tonight. But I figured it was off because FPS was going up and down high 50's to 60's etc. In the past, with Rift, ASW/ATW would lock it at 90 or 45. So I was assuming it was off. I'll double check. But I didn't notice any judder or anything.

  17. Hi,

    Reverb here. I don´t know why, but I don´t need to deactivate my "virtual screens" anymore, so I think the problem for WMR headsets is solved. Regards.

    P.D.: I do not post quite often, but I have to say again: pointctrl is amazing, thank you Miles!

    Yeah, me too. I just updated everything to the latest (KB, DCS etc) and I was getting ready to recalibrate pointctrl. Didn't see the multi monitor issue so MS must have fixed it.

  18. Hi Folks,

    I've been away from the flight sim scene for some time (previously a F4:AF and DCS Black Shark enthusiast), and am looking to get back in with the upcoming DCS F-16 release and VR integration. Since my last foray nearly 10 years ago, however, I became a Mac person, so getting back in will involve purchasing hardware from the ground up -- a Windows machine, VR Headset, HOTAS, the works.

    If you were starting from scratch, today, do you have system recommendations as far as computer specs, VR system, HOTAS, pedals, etc.? When it comes to price, I typically prefer to spend the extra money to get a system I'm happy with and that will last a bit longer as opposed to wishing I'd made a bigger investment down the road a short ways.

    Thanks for any advice you can provide!

    Check out the INPUT-OUTPUT VR subthread. There is a HP Reverb thread and I just posted my FA18 Instant Action with FPS/performance etc. My hardware is included.

    But 2080Ti, fastest CPU you can afford, overclock to 5GH, 32GB of 3200MHz or faster RAM. SSD of 1GB, a beefy highly rated power supply.

    And HP Reverb is currently the best VR in my opinion. Clarity is amazing. XTAL is supposed to be better, but it's about $5,000 to $6,000 so I'm thinking that's out of reach.

    Do check out the VR subthread.

  19. Can anyone give me or point me in the direction of a good rundown of the setup for a reverb?

    I know that's a pretty loaded question :)...

    Coming from an OG vive, running an RTX2080, 3800X and 32GB mem off of an SSD.

    I've not used WMR before. I'm pretty tech savvy but are there any gotcha's with the setup?

    I'm assuming I'll just be able to crank all the options all the way up right? LOL ;).... J/K...

    Will be doing a complete rebuild of the OS and both my DCS and iRacing SSD's so it'll be clean starts on everything.

    There really isn't much to setup. I created a YT vid on how I have WMR and SteamVR setup. My DCS ingame setting is at 1.0. I left Steam Video settings at AUTO rendo etc. Also covered in the video.

    you can just google for my name/YT, DCS Reverb and it should come up if you need that.

    I also just posted to Imacken my performance for FA18 instant machine.

    But I think you're CPU may be a bottleneck.

  20. I can do that later, but it's 'Instant Action', F/A-18, Persian Gulf. 'Ready on the Ramp'. Or 'Training', F/A 18, 'Cold Start'.

    I hope that helps.

    OK, finally got a chance to try this. I updated SteamVR and Windows, and DCS to the latest as of today.

    I used the Ready on the Ramp as that used to suck. I took off and flew around downtown at 400-2000ft (mostly 400). With DCS FPS counter, I was in the 60's and high 50's most of the time. It was visually smooth. It's been smooth for me for a very long time now.

    I saved the JSON file so I can provide the full report if anyone wants it. My HW spec is in the signature. Also, I just realized that I have Process Lasso. I set it to "Game/High" mode and haven't turned it off.

  21. Hans - here are my HW Specs. I havent been able to rollback from the 2.5.6 yet, but will report back when I do.

    Do keep in mind that 1080Ti may have to work hard for 5K+. Have you tried lower FoV and work your way up?

  22. Thanks I tried the Alpha and I'm still getting an abysmally low FPS just sitting on the ramp. FPS shows at 8-12 FPS. I think that's the cause of the stuttering (?), but cant figure out why all of a sudden I'm getting 10 FPS. I have a pretty powerful machine and this hasn't been an issue before. At least not this bad.

    Have you posted your HW spec already?
