  1. Nice job! A comment : if that is a spitfire, then it should be a Mk IX for DCS WWII, which means twin radiators.
  2. exactly. Again, this means, it's time for people who haven't pledge to pledge now. With only one free flyable coming up, this means that it would cost over 100$ to buy the remaining 4 (or 5 if we hit the stretch). Whereas you can get them for 40$ now.
  3. I don't think that it will be. Obviously, there is a lot more to lose if ilya changes what he promised to the people who have already backed, even at 1$. They are not that many, so it's a better move to keep his initial promise to them and give them 3 free flyables than to lose his credibility. Only new backers will get 1 free flyable at the 1$ level. Not the existing ones. If he took these planes away from them (existing backers), it would be a disaster for his image.
  4. Backers at the 1$ level, did so on the promise of 3 free flyables with the game. If that is going to change, and only 1 will be free, then these guys will still get 3 planes for 1$.
  5. Ilya stated in the kickstarter page, that ALL backers up to now will get what they were initially promised. Nothing changes for them. Even the guys with 1$ pledge will get 3 flyables. So it seems like a good idea for people who haven't already pledged, to do so very soon, before the KS changes are implemented.
  6. Yes, all aerial photos are linked with coordinates to google earth. They currently have about 12000 photos of Normandy and about 21000 photos of France, many of which are on 6th June 1944. You can type the area of France you want to look at in the Search Bar above, and then push the "view records in Google Earth" tab, appearing above the results to have an overview of the whole area with all the photos in google earth. For example, the results for Normandy are in this link: http://aerial.rcahms.gov.uk/database/results.php?search_term=Normandy&QUICKSEARCH=1 and google earth shows this : Every pin in the map is clickable and represents the location of the aerial photo.
  7. The National Collection of Aerial Photography (NCAP) has thousands of digitized aerial photos. However it requires a paid subscription for high resolution images, which is 15 pounds/year. It has about 900 photos of northern Normandy area : http://aerial.rcahms.gov.uk/worldwide/France.php (select upper normandy on the map to view the low res photos)
  8. Currently DCS graphics is not at the level of CLOD, as you 've pointed out. However, this has a lot to do with the terrain and not the cockpits or aircraft (which are superb in my opinion). EDGE photos of normandy look a lot more like CLOD, so hopefully DCS WWII will be up to the same level, graphicswise. The DM is actually superior than CLOD at the internal modelling level, but suffers at the visual damage effects (along with other effects like gunfire, explosions, etc). IIRC, Yo-Yo acknowledged this last fact a few months ago and we can only be optimistic that it will be improved.
  9. Would it be possible to include some additional photos or maybe a small video of the Dora cockpit? A lot of people are putting up the argument that they need to see a piece of your work on THIS project and not the past ones before they will pledge. It is my understanding that RRG worked on it (the cockpit) along with ED guys, so why not go forward with it (I presume Yo-Yo wouldn't mind showing off a bit of his work- it may even be a good publicity move) The snapshot of the Dora cockpit on the Kickstarter page already looks fantastic.
  10. B17 and British airfields in the initial map at the 1st stretch goal : absolutely a nice move!!! Replacing the Typhoon with a Tempest Mk V would probably be more attractive as well.
  11. Hi everyone, straight to the question: people who have pledged more the 40$ will get all flyables in the upcoming sim. However, it is my understanding that the Dora will be released earlier as a single module for DCS. Will these people be able to get it without paying anything more as soon as it is released? Or would they have to wait for DCS WWII to launch? thanks
  12. Some questions and remarks to Luthier: 1. You mentioned that you will not touch the P51 and the Dora. My experience with the Mustang however is that there is a lot of room for improvement in the DM and the gun/damage effects. Are you planning to work on these (or other smaller improvements such as a sound of the vibrating airframe just before stall)? 2. This has been asked before, but i didn't see an answer, sorry if i missed it but here goes : are you planning to have a dedicated server? This would give the online community a huge boost. A significant percentage of flight simmers find playing online much more rewarding, and a dedicated server offers a lot more opportunities and attracts bigger numbers of participants. 3. I would prefer for the core game to include at least one bomber from each side : B17 and Ju-88/He-111. Including flyable bombers would make the game more versatile (from a pilot/mission type POV) and attract more players. The idea of flying a 4-engine bomber at 30000ft at DCS detail level has already excited many people in the community, and would truly be a novelty in the domain (even more so than the P51 module was in my opinion). 4. Are you planning on including a thread with suggestions/ideas from the community later on? (I guess you are somewhat doing this already :)). Or maybe an open poll about aircraft people would like to see? I wish you every success with the Kickstarter and the project. You have my full support. cheers
