  1. So I have installed DCS 2.0 with no problems other than slow download speed. I launch the game and go into the module manager, log in with no problems. A window pops up telling me to download all the modules, INCLUDING Nevada. SO I click install. The game closes and a new window pops up telling me it's connecting to the update servers. After about 10-20 seconds, another window pops up saying "Timeout was reached" and it closes. So after that, I tried going the CMD window way, with the same issues. I honestly don't know what else to do at this point. I'd like to at least start the update tonight so I have time to play tomorrow. If you have any help to offer, I would love it. Thank you. :joystick:

  2. So, last Thursday I downloaded 1.5 and I could play it fine for a couple hours. I get on later that night after taking a break and the game refuses to load, it only loads to about 10% and stops. So i shrugged it off for the weekend. I get home just now to try and launch the game, and it still does the same thing. I've deleted the config folder in the game base folder and launched the repair, ran fine, re-downloaded the config folder, and I went to launch the game, and it does the same thing. I repeated the previous steps, and before launching the game, i restarted my PC, but that didn't change anything.

I apologize if this has already been answered. But if anyone could give me an answer as to how to fix it, that would be lovely.:joystick:

EDIT: This is the screen that it stays stuck on:

EDIT: I have also tried uninstalling the game and that didn't even seem to work.

  3. Id love to as soon as i get back in country.

when you're flying that close is it just eyeball adjustments or do you kind of coordinate rpm/mp?

It's a little bit of both. We would love to explain it to you in more depth once you get back state-side!

  4. A previous thread in the mods section popped up regarding the current way flares act in DCS and caused me to make this thread. Is there any particular reason that the flares were changed from the way they were pre-1.2.12, to what they are now? I don't remember seeing anything in the change log regarding any change in the first place. The flares currently don't seem to act like they do in real life, in the context of how they flow through the air, the size of the flare itself, and the trail the flare leaves behind. ex.:

Also, if someone could possible direct me towards the necessary files to edit to MAYBE make them look/act a little more realistically, that would be perfect.

    Thank you guys!

  5. In my opinion, the diameter of the flare is to large in dcs right now. it looks like the sun is spitting out of the jet!

If you look the flare is only as wide as the smoke!!!

    i agree

moreover the smoketail of the flare is too wide also

even wider in the back of the smoketail unfortunately :(

I keep comparing it to the way a Paraflare works in DCS. That's what I feel they've replaced it with. A paraflare-type-model.

    EDIT: Post made! : /showthread.php?p=2352394#post2352394

Hope you don't mind me using some of your photos, OP. :)

  6. It's better that we have these flares, rather than drastically drops FPS.

What exactly do you mean by this? It's better that we have the flares we have currently or that we have the older flares? Personally, I never really noticed an FPS hit with either, but I'd rather have flares that look more realistic.

  7. Have fun!

Thank you, Jack! One thing i noticed is that the Pilots head in the VFA27 CAG and Lne skin has missing textures on it! If you could try and fix that, it would be amazing! Thank you again!

  8. Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone could take the time to make a couple skins for me. All for the default F-18C.

    1. VFA-27 CAG skin

    2. Line skin

    3. CF-18 Demo Team skin

Also, if anyone knows how to remove pylons, Could you please explain it quickly? Unless it requires 3D modeling.

    Thanks guys!

Ahhh! Thank you Invisibull! After last year, I'm a little worried about the Power Supply, only because I had bought my 650 at Best Buy for $200, got home, installed it, turned on my PC, only to find out that my Power Supply wasn't good enough for the 650. So I ended up having to go back out and spend another $200 on a new Power Supply. $200 OVER my intended spending amount! I don't want a repeat of that, again, this year! :P Thank you, again!

  10. I can vouch for the CH Pedals. Although they're loud, they get the job done pretty well. The one thing that I don't particularly like would have to be the fact then when you're using the rudder axis (when being used for fine adjustments, such as in the Huey for example), it starts to move, stops, and then likes to jump to a farther position, which causes an over-correction type of effect. But i'm sure if you're not afraid to take it apart, you can somehow make it so that it's more smooth. Other than that, they're an excellent set of pedals.

  11. I just have a quick noobish question that I myself probably already know the answer to, but i'm just not getting. I've decided that I want to upgrade my graphics card from a 650 Ti Boost to a GTX 970. I got this 650 last year around this time (christmas) and ended up having to buy a brand new power supply, as well. Before the 650, I had a cute little 610. I believe I went from a 500W to a 600W power supply. So here's my question. Will I be able to upgrade to a 970 without having to get a brand new Power Supply? Or would the 970 consume too much power for my 600W?

  12. Personally, I do not like the new look of flares. All the flares look and act as though they're paraflares, and that, for some reason, has not been able to escape my mind. I hopw that gets fixed, because that's one of those main things that really stands out to me and it bothers me because flares aren't to act like they do, I don't believe.

  13. I recently started to actually take interest in the Eurofighter and got excited by this project, but I was told that the project was canceled for the people here and was only being continued for military use only. Is it true? I sure hope not, because that would be a real let down. :(

  14. I've gotten the maneuver down pretty well. I usually do the following:

1.) Transition to a somewhat level flight path (doesn't have to be perfect)

    2.) get to about 450 km/h

3.) when ready to perform the maneuver, press the 's' key on your keyboard, let your nose start to fall ever so slightly

4.) when nose has fallen a little (not a lot!) pull straight back all the way to the aft position

5.) when you get to the top of the maneuver and start actually pitching backwards, press the 's' key again IMMEDIATELY, increase to full burner, let the nose fall back down, and transition back to level flight.

I've performed the maneuver many times. It takes a little practice, but it's easy most of the time depending on your speed.

Edit. I've created an in-cockpit video of me performing the maneuver. I would have added the external view as well, but unfortunately it didn't record.

  15. Hello everyone. Just a quick qestion. Is there any (complete) guide out there on how to use the track replayer? Multiplayer/singleplayer tracks saved in your Saved Games folder? I've tried it, but when I start it by hitting pause, all the planes just go crazy and fly in a straight line. I'd like to know because I'm trying to get better at formation and I'd like to use pre-made tracks to fly on while my buddy isn't online. :helpsmilie: thanks!

  16. I have an AMD FX 1400 at 3.6 GHz, GTX 650 Ti BOOST, and I have close to no problems. In the next couple years, I'm hoping to invest in a better PC, or just upgrade my current one with an Intel i5, better gpu, and more RAM. I've heard that an i5 is better than an i7 in terms of gaming, but I could be wrong. I run mostly high settings, with the exception of water on low and a couple other things turned down or off. Get about 20 FPS most of the time. With the release of EDGE, the game should run somewhat better because it utilizes 4 cores instead of 2. We'll have to see.
