  1. @Kuky : 3Ds max 9 commercial is around 3500 USD However, If you are a student, 3Ds max 9 is only 250 USD :smartass: but the EULA is only cleared for educational / nonprofit use. (Which should be fine for hobbyists) When it comes to trying it or learning : There is a free 30 day trial of 3ds max 7 : http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/3D-Studio-Max-Download-15976.html You can then purchase a licence (full or student) and activate it. Another option is to use Blender (free and very good) http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/ You will just have more possible problems with porting the models to lockon since you will have to go through 3Ds max anyway. And when you need to export to LOM, ask someone who has 3Ds max, or use the one at your job, or install the free trial when you need to export to LOM. The last is twisting licenses a bit and I don't encourage it. For the textures, I recommend the gimp (free but awkward to use) or Corel paintshop pro (55 USD) over the expensive photoshop (600 USD). Gimp: http://www.gimp.org/ So if you are broke, you can have a 3D suite with texturing tools for free, open source, no ads, no catch, no spyware (blender + gimp) but you will still need access to 3Ds max (for exporting)
  2. Actually, IguanaKing does deserve some credit for pointing me out the inaccuracy of the LAUs in Lock-on. Even if these models were not discussed at the time. Cheers IK  Edit : I also found a little something which is not right... but I'm not going to change that whole screenshot bunch for a texture mapping detail, it will be corrected.
  3. Hi all, this is ready to download, please post any bugs here. Thanks a lot. EDIT : VERSION 2 with corrective attempt to wrong placement for some users : Triple Ejector Racks and LAU-68 mod by Nachtwolf Unzip the archive and read the readme.html file. --- Additionnal MER model for the F-4E http://www.virtual9thaf.com/uploads/MER-MOD.zip
  4. Here's mine... It shows two flyables. :joystick:
  5. Are the time and date writen in the email? If they are, you have enough info to forward to the ISP. Give them the IP, whois info, trace and the time and date this happened. It's unlikely the police is going to do anything.
  6. 1st : Think about everything you installed or changed on the computer lately. Also, check your running processes for anything suspicious. You could try checking/unchecking hardware acceleration in your sound configuration. In Vent/TS Try changing your sound device and directsound to waveout and back again? Finally, check the CPU priority at which ventrilo and/or TS are running. If lag appears in both, I wouldn't look into that last thing really. Other than this, I got no clue.
  7. Sweet Stuff Sp0nge. Funny thing too is that the A-10 Thunderbolt 1's blueprint looks like it's coming from a book I got. I guess I'm lucky.
  8. I think it's time to bump this. Also, I'll say it again, it would be nice to have a main topic to look at with the info on the first page. I think we got this one and the LOCERF one started by Fudd. But the info is sparse in them.
  9. I don't agree about the A-10. I been pretty much flying all planes in FC. Turns out my favorite IS the A-10 at the moment, and I don't feel at a disadvantage in it. I got a very nice AA killboard too. I have been flying the F-15 also, and it's no worse than any russian plane. Actually, I personnally got my butt handed to me more often in Russian jets. Blame the pilot? YES ! It all comes down to the pilot in the end. Using what's available to him. Just fly a plane you like, learn your style, learn to deal with what the plane has got, what it hasn't and don't blame the tool for what you did with it. Also I'd like to shamelessly advertise the Fighter Wing of the 9thAF. Because we fly the F-15C (primarily) and we are looking for good pilots. Honestly, it's worth the fun. Pilots start as recruits and have some introductory training with an instructor, they then take the introductory checkride. At this point they are accepted as 9thAF pilots. We got a pretty good training outline, there are no strict obligations to attend weekly training (but you would be missing some fun). So if you are insterested, please visit our website
  10. I was wondering if it would be possible to edit the first post with all the important information written on it. So this way, we don't all browse through a 40 pages thread (to find a tacview file for instance :)) this time.
