  1. Ahh, this explains a lot of the issues I've been having assigning tasks to AI. Very helpful, thanks!
  2. I don't get why people would intentionally withhold information that could help others in a sim game. My only guess is to make yourself feel better than others. At any rate, thanks for sharing.
  3. As MWD said, if your just trying to get all of you in one map on a multiplayer session, it's fairly simple. When you add a unit, under skill level select "client". That will enable the unit you placed to be controlled by another human. This is of course assuming the person has the module for the unit your placing. So as long as you all purchased the P-51 and you create P51 units set to "client", you'll be ok. There's frankly so much you can do it would be difficult to cover every situation. I've been playing with the editor for about 2 weeks now and I've barely scratched the surface of what you can do. For me it's more addicting then actually flying the aircraft. Designing missions and watching the AI follow your commands to seemingly dynamic environments is very satisfying. Assuming you have the patience to experiment. The link here is just a reference manual for the mission editor, it's not really a tutorial. You can also look on youtube for a couple video's, but there isn't much that I've found. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/131372/ - Tim
  4. That did the trick, thanks ENO! Looks like I needed to select engage target and use the attack unit option like you said. I thought I had tried that, but it is possible I didn't have the waypoint far enough out to give the a-10 time to set up an attack run. Did you just use the mission editor guide in the a-10c or did you use another resource for learning to create custom missions? There's so much information out there I'm lost. Right now I'm reading a getting started with Lua guide and I haven't even figured out where I put the code in the game yet. I'm basically learning slowly by a lot of trail & error. ;)
  5. Hello, I'm new to DCS and have been having a lot of fun with the mission editor. However, I can't figure out how to get aircraft to engage ground targets. For example, after I add an enemy command post, I'll add an a-10C and set waypoints to fly over the command post. It doesn't seem to matter what task I select for the a-10, ground attack, CAS etc, it just flies over the command post and ignores it. I've also used the advanced waypoints option and added tasks such as attack ground object, then placed the triangle directly over the command post, with no luck. :helpsmilie: Is there something else I need to do? I've tried everything with no luck. I'd just like to get the AI to engage enemy ground targets. Thanks for any advice! - Tim
  6. Is there a live link available for this guide? The link posted gives a "Page not Found" error. Thanks!
  7. I'm going to assume your kidding here. I wouldn't load the mission if I didn't want to complete it. Thanks for the tip. I don't know much about the weapons yet, but it looks like the range for the 25MLs is 10KM. It's better than the 5KM or less range on my other guided bombs/missiles. If I read correctly the BUK's range is 32km, so I'd be vulnerable for quite some time before I got close enough to use them. How effective is continuous chaff dispense at tricking BUK's at 10-12Km? Can you fire these outside 10Km with any reliability by using launch override?
  8. Thank you everyone for your replies. It's the standard single player mission available for SU-25T. Thanks for the invite Grunt, I'll check out your TS3 server  Yes, they are the BUK SAM sites. I've attached the track file of the mission, and the mission itself. The problem comes after I've bombed the command post. I'm just wondering why I can't use my ELINT pod to target them, but they keep shooting at my allied wingmen. I guess I'm just lucky that they didn't target me? Not sure why. What are some strategies for when your elint pod can't give you a valid emitter to lock on to with your missiles? Does it depend on the particular type of SAM site? Unfortunately, the encyclopedia in the game doesn't give much info in the way of exploiting SAM sites. 9. I wasn't, but I am using a command file now. That wasn't the problem. It took me a few hours (probably more) of tinkering with CH manager, but I finally figured it out. I didn't know CH control manager has a mouse option under DX Device that you can map to the x[a1] and y[a2] axis on the ProThrottle. You just have to make sure you have DX Mode checked. Once I got x & y axis' for the thumb slew mapped to the mouse, I went into the controls menu in DCS and selected axis assign. After changing I-25l slew horizontal and I-25l slew vertical to mouse x and mouse y, I was golden! :pilotfly: I did have to set the deadzone on both mouse x,y axis in CH control manager to about 10 to stop the cursor from moving on it's own, but I'm good now. Hopefully someone might find this useful if they are having similar issues to mine. - Tim
  10. Hello, I've only been playing for about a week now and have ran into a problem regarding SAM's, specifically the ones in the single player Command Post mission. I don't have a problem taking out the first 2 or 3 SAM's as they "paint" me quite a ways out. My problem is after I've killed 2 or 3 targets, the rest don't target me until I'm within 10km of the base, by then it's too late for me to avoid their missiles and target them with my weapons. I always wind up in a ball of flames before I can blow up those command posts  How am I supposed to take out SAM sites that don't "paint" me until I'm almost right over them? Thanks for any help! - Tim
  11. Hello Everyone, I'm a new guy around here, and have little experience with flight sims. That said, I kinda dove right in with DCS when I saw it on steam and purchased the CH Fighterstick USB. My problem is with the CH Control manager software. I can't seem to map certain commands to the joystick, namely the target designator down, left, right,up TO the Hat 2 switch. I'm also having difficulty mapping weapons fire to the button 1, the trigger. It's weird because I've managed to map plenty of autopilot modes and other functions to the hat switches, but no matter what I do it won't let me map these commands to the joystick. Could anyone suggest what I might be missing here? Thank you! P.S. I attached my .map / .cms files so you can see my mappings, hopefully that helps. - Tim DCS CH Fighterstick Files.rar
