  1. Is there anyone with insight on this topic?
  2. Hello, I don't know if this question have been asked before (haven't found it yet), but here we go: Inside the monitor setup LUA file (e.g. mySetup.lua) in the MonitorSetup-folder I can control the viewports, e.g. Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 800; height = 600; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.3333333333; } All the viewports (e.g. center, left, right) will be controlled by the main view, so if I'm viewing left, all the viewports will be moved. My question is, is it possible to create "fixed" viewports? For example an "heads down" viewport, showing the instrument panel? What would help cockpit builders to create custom fixed views, for example of the radio panel or other panels. I know the game can handle custom viewports, for example the TGP and other monitors must be made this way. I remember the Huey have a external load camera that is sort of a fixed view. What I would like to have is a way for the simulator to have certain fixed views (for example of the instruments in the cockpit) which is not RELATIVE the out-the-window viewports. I guess it is possible, but how? Using the monitor config files? Or modifying the aircraft? Currently I use Helios to provide the instruments on a touch screen, but I would prefer that a custom, fixed view of the instruments would be helpful. That way I could fly any aircraft with instruments on a touch screen/monitor and the out the windows linked to TrackIR for out the windows scenes (without the instruments view being relocated). Thanks!
  3. Hello, I'm going to build a real hud as described in this thread (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89974) and I'm going to buy materials for the hud (teleprompter screen/mirror and front surface mirrors). What I need is to understand the real size of the HUD in the real aircrafts, primparily I fly the A-10, F-15 and Su-27 but also upcoming fighters, for example the F/A-18. So I need to make the hud screen as similar as the real ones but also giving me flexbility to use it for different aircrafts. So, does anyone know the sizes of the REAL hud screens as in the REAL aircraft? I understand exporting the HUD using LUA is quite simple, but does it apply only to A-10C or is it the same as for the F-15 and Su-27? I'm thinking about ordering the mirrors and screens needed from the following companies (It seems to be the same company): http://firstsurfacemirror.com/ http://www.telepromptermirror.com/ It seems I also need a fresnel lens, can anyone tell me about the properties of this fresnel lens? I've found a fresnel lens, but I'm not sure it is what I need: http://www.carson.com/magnifiers/sheet-and-bar/1365-dm-21 Thanks in advance
  4. Problem solved for me. With the PeterP viewporthandling it is assumed you have the monitorsetup.lua in the correct place (i.e. in a the Config/Monitorsetup/youLuafile.lua) So the problem for me was solved by placing the file here instead in under the Saved Games folder.
  5. Ok, now it works. However, I cant move the MFCD's around. can you please explain a little bit how it is suppose to work? Even if you have some instructions, I don't see how I can manipulate the MFCDs.
  6. Great. I can confirm that I don't get the expired message. Haven't tested on my DCS computer yet.
  7. I experience the same problems after setting up instrument export. Right and left MFCD are positioned correctly. Also the RWR seems to be positioned accordning to the monitor lua. Everything else is on the far right, top corner. Here is my monitor setup. Copied from PeterP files here at the forum. Here is my viewporthandling My screen setup is: One monitor (left, starting at 0,0) Two projectors (center and right) So they are positioned as 3x1 row. I'm running Windows 8.1 and DCS 1.2.12 Any help is appreciated!
  8. That is soo good. I'm really looking forward to test drive this app.
  9. I also had this problem with one touchscreen and two projectors. I had to rearrange so that the touchscreen was first in order (top left) within the AMD desktop manager.
  10. Yes, the firewall is not "silently" blocking it (as far as I know, I have allowed the UltraMFCD.exe thru the firewall). I'm also trying this on two separate computers using two different networks (one wired and one wireless) with the same results (Beta Expired). The laptop I'm currently using does not hav DCS installed, but I get "expired" anyway. Do I need DCS runnning or installed on the same computer? (for starting the app that is, I totally understand that I have to run DCS to get the UltraMFCD to work :) When Starting the app, I can for a second see "Waiting for DCS" (or something like that) before "Beta expired". In the Windows app log I find this: ".NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_64) - 1>Failed to compile: C:\Users\obscured\Downloads\UltraMFCDBeta1Update3\Alice.dll . Error code = 0x8007000b" I have the latest .NET framework installed (It was triggered by starting the MFCD app the first time). I have rebooted since the .NET FW update. I will keep looking for problems in the Firewall. Maybe I need an "outbound" rule?
  11. Hello I just found this excellent (?!) software today. I'm hoping to use it for my cockpit build. When I launch the app it says "Beta expired" and then it quits back to file explorer. Is this just me? Or is it a built in expiry in the software? I've had problems with my system clock... (CMOS battery?) Best regards Edit: Found out that others had the same problem. Allowed the app in the firewall. I'm using 8.1 + one display monitor + two projectors. AMD card.
  12. Hello I'm thinking about building a "simpit" with multiple video channels (3-5 projectors) and thinking about if it is possible to drive it with multiple computers, like one master and 1-2 slaves that just displays the out the window display channels. Is that even possible with the current version of DCS World? Or is this feature on the roadmap for DCS World? I would like it to be exactly like X-plane when it comes to multi computer setups. Or like FSX with the WideFS/FSUIPC running multiple computers.
  13. Thanks alot Greg! All my screens are full HD 1920x1080. What is the benefit of using SoftTH? I don't understand why I should use it... Ok, I'm starting to understand... SoftTH is used to "fit" the image from DCS into the screen layout? I see that DCS is outputting 5760x2160... interesting... I'll try your config later today. Thanks
  14. Hello, I would like to have the following screen layout using DCS World/A-10/FC3 etc. I have all the screens. I have 2 GPU:s in Crossfire config. I have a pretty decent computer to run it on. How can I setup this environment? Should I use Helios? I guess I need it in order to have buttons alongside the MFD displays... Should Crossfire be enabled or disabled? Should I use ATI Eyefinity (in Crossfire I guess I need to run DCS in fullscreen mode, is that conflicting with Helios?) or SoftTH? How should I config my display settings in DCS? FOV? How should I place my screens to minimize "warping effects"? Should I change settings in config files or in the options menu? I know there are lot of setup guides and tutorials - but still, my MAIN QUESTION is this: How would YOU go about with this setup to maximise immersion, usability, image quality AND frame rate? Thanks in advance!
  15. Hi! I'm very satisfied with my Warthog HOTAS joystick! Worth the money. Well, how do you control you rudders if you don't have pedals? Keyboard? Something controls on the joystick? I don't want to purchase pedals, because I use rudders very little while flying.
  16. Strange. I'm running 9.1 on Vista 64 without any problems. Will upgrade to 9.2 (currently available NOW).
  17. Hi, i'm having great problems flying the sim with my joystick. I can confirm for other threads that the force feedback seems to be inactive during training missions, but seems to work in the "real" missions. Also, I don't seem to understand how to configure the joystick in the options panel. It's really not working for me (I can't change the settings/don't understand at all what to do - changing a setting just wont accept inputs from the joystick like to configure it in other games). Will we recieve a fix for this? Flying training missions without force feedback centering the joystick is really hard. I cannot fly at all. In the russian version, which I got to work on my XP, it seemed to work better (well, I didnt understand how to trim then). But now I cannot enjoy the sim... sorry, I really need a fix or someone explain to me how to make it work. (no, I don't plan to play in sim mode!)
  18. CRAPSTER! I just investigated my Lock On folder and noticed I was still using the 1.1 version! Somehow the patch never got installed!! DARN! Even though I had the 1.12 readme file, the exe file was still version 1.1. Strange. Hopefully my game will run a little bit faster.
  19. Hi there, I have an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, Intel 2.4 GHz, 2GB RAM and ATI x800XL (256MB). AGPx8. I'm running on HIGH settings (i think) and I have 15-30 FPS. Well, 70 over water when looking at an empty sky. Is this a typical FPS for my hardware? It seems a little bit low... I'm running with the latest Catalyst and FC 1.12
  20. Thanks for another great tutorial movie. I noticed an item in your Windows programs menu; "Black Shark". Is that the real thing? I mean, do you take part in some kind of beta program? Is there a beta program? I would like to join but also understand that only veterans are allowed in that testing program.
  21. Hi there, I'm new to this and I've got some questions. Training Is there anywhere I can get some good training in flying and handling my aircraft? I'm thinking about starting with the A10. Right now I'm doing the training missions (ingame tutorials) one by one, but I would also enjoy getting online and perform real training with a live trainer, if that is possible? Is anyone doing things like that? Getting online & Coop flying I would love getting online to do some missions and just flying around with other live people. Do I need to join a squadron or just drop into any of the online servers? What software do I need? The Hyperlobby thingie? Is there any continous campaigns being played? Weekly, scheduled trainings or battles? When Black Shark comes out, I would LOVE heading out with 2-5 coop players in missions online, what would ROCK! Pop up from behind cover and fire some missiles. Btw, which aircrafts will be flyable in BS? Only the Ka-50? Ok, over and out. Remember, I'm new to this so I'm happy for any tips, advice or hints you could give. Sorry for asking all these questions, But I lack info for "gettings started", or at least I havent found it. Best regards Mattias :pilotfly:
  22. Hi guys! I just bought Flaming Cliffs and I thank Eagle Dynamics and all developers for this great game. For some time, I've been thinking about building a "cockpit" (basic, only screens, no "real" hardware) at home for my simulator games (FS/FSX and LOMAC/FC/BS). Alternatives... Alternative 1: Just get a nice screen, for example an LG 20 Widescreen monitor, with 16:10 ratio and 1680x1050 resolution and together with this a TrackIR thingie to use with virtual cockpits. Would you recommend this setup? Or alternative 2? Alternative 2: Buy 2-5 screens, for example a couple widescreen monitors and use them together to create a cockpit? For Flight Simulator this can be achieved with the Wideview software, as I understand. Can LOMAC be setup in the same way? How about other simulators? Which alternative would you recommend? What kind of hardware do I need? I would start with basic stuff and then add to that. Today I have the following hardware: Intel 2.4 GHz 2GB RAM ATI x800 with 256MB (I think) MS SideWinder 2 Force Feedback I guess I need to go for SLI Technology to have great performance in FSX? Well, I would like to hear what others are using, what you recommend etc. I would like to have a great experience while flying, but I cannot really build complex/advanced/expensive cockpits/simulators at home (my wife doesn't allow! ;) I'd like to get in touch with anyone that can give me advice, by email or MSN. Just PM me and I'll get in touch.
