They absolutely changed something. The aircraft is totally different on takeoff. I can pull the stick back and hammer the throttle wide open now, no rudder needed on takeoff roll. I thought i remembered a while back seeing something that said they were going to tighten the tail wheel lock up a little bit?

I am waiting for the AFM and steam release. I will surely be picking up this bird.

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Skithis replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
Steam and DCS? I would like to purchase C-101. Problem is, I have the steam version of the sim. Is there anyway around this? From what I've heard the steam version will not accept modules purchased from the ED store? If so, why are some models not included in steam? -
I don't have time to read the other replies but I noticed that if you don't push the thump button next to the throttle on the collective handle and then rotate the throttle up and back to idle, the engine will not light off. ESS bus should have nothing to do with it. It just selects what the voltmeter reads off of.

So I'm diving in on a target and active pause. A few seconds later I get dual flame outs. No big deal, im at 20,000 feet I think. I slowly turn towards friendly airspace and start a slow glide. The left engine lights off first or second try and I push her up to about half throttle, trim the airplane and begin the start sequence on the right engine. After about 10 minutes fumbling around it finally lights off when I dive sharply. Now ive got power but the guidance systems are all inop. How do you reset the cdu/guidance systems in flight? I landed at a friendly airport near the front line to shut everything down and restart but then I cant get the engines to restart, they just hang start. What are the proper procedures here?

Did some more flight testing. On the grass at the airfield she takes off and lands just fine. I didn't realize that the crop fields in DCS have different bump mapping. If I bring the mustang in and pull her back to about 90 knots and full flaps shell set down in a 3 point ok. Still haven't had success with 30 degree flaps or 2 point landings. Whenever I try to set it on the mains, no matter how slow the decent rate, I still get kicked into the air.

I have been around aviation my entire life. Im a current A&P certified mechanic. I have no doubt that the struts are too firm. When my decent rate is half of what my ascent rate is after my wheels touch, there is a problem.
-
The struts are way too bouncy.

I noticed the p51 in game has no trunk tank fuel gauge? Is this accurate? if so do you just fly until she runs out? Also, has anybody been successfully able to land or takeoff in grass? The thing is literally uncontrollable off the cement. Not to mention it bounces like hell on landing. Also, do all 3 guns only fire for the first so much of ammunition fired? I noticed only my I/b guns were firing after a short time. No damage. Oh, also, I did some sound mods and for some reason my starter cannot be heard in the cockpit anymore. The file is there but no sound in game? Amazing sim though. I hope ED fixes the very few issues this sim has.

I don't have that either. I just realized that there is a hardcopy version of this game. I have the steam version.
-
For some reason I don't have that listing in my start menu. You wouldn't happen to know where it is in the dcs world folder?
-
I don't get an error. My p51 just sounds like a wind up toy.
-
Where is the repair function at?
-
I installed a sound mod last night and it turns out its terrible. I didn't back up the original files because I didn't think it would be a big deal to repair the installation if needed. Well now it looks like a big pain. I deleted my P51 folder at DCSworld/mods/aircraft/...but how do I get it to reinstall the p51d module fresh?

A-10C, much more vulnerable than it sounds to be ...
Skithis replied to Hueyman's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Lets be honest. In real life when you hear a group of thunderbolts coming in on your position (if you do), your not going to make yourself stand out. Your going to take cover away from anybody else until that GAU-8 runs out of ammo. You don't want anybody to call out your position to that pilot. You cant run or hide from the thunderbolt. You can only wait it out and pray to whoever it is that your pray to. -
Got both engines shot out, no gear, 1 rudder, and the tip of the wing gone. Glided all the way back to base and skidded her in, called ground crew and was back in the air in 5 minutes.

I'm trying to play through the campaign Georgian hammer with ca but im having problems. On the offensive CAS missions I have no option in the ATC menu to tell the teams to advance. Is this a multiplayer only campaign?

Today as I was getting shot down by mig 29's and struggling to maintain 300 knots in my a10 I thought to myself that maybe sending A10's into an area where there are multiple sams and fighter jet threats, just isn't a good idea. Are the single player missions really that realistic? I cant see sending an airplane in which struggles to climb when loaded into an environment with mach 2 fighter jets and sam systems. I think it is most realistically and deadly in close in troop CAS missions where the largest threat would be RPG's and/or rifle fire. I'm not putting the thunderbolt down or anything because I think it is great at what it does. Just hard to think they would ever use it in a modern day war against a enemy with modern tech. Seems, the strike eagle would be a more viable option. How about a new engine mod with twice the thrust and stronger wings! A10 thunderbolt III...!

While playing through Georgian hammer in mission 3-1-0 I had taken out numerous tanks and AAA with 6 mavericks and 7 gbu 12's from 12000 feet. On the last pass after I thought all air defences were destroyed (hadn't had a lock attempt in over a half hour and 10 passes) I had the lock up alarm sound off the RWR. I was 5 seconds before bomb release so I flew straight to get the weapon off. I didn't believe somebody had locked me. As soon as the bomb dropped I got the missile launch warning and sure enough right off my nose and under me here comes a sam streaking up through the sky. I dove and tried to gain speed from my slow bomb pass (big mistake) and the next thing you know I was floating through the night by a parachute over a Georgian city. Anyways, My wingman flies around uselessly the entire mission because I cant get my UHF radio to work. The menu is black even though the radio shows the correct freq. (251.000) How do I make contact?

I want to watch my cluster bomb impact targets but my computer is stuttering really badly when they impact. Im running a amd phenom x6 1100t at 4 ghz, 8 gigs ram, NVidia 650. is there any way to turn down the effects of bomb blasts? Why are my wingman menu options in the atc menu black? what do I have to do to the comm radio to get to there freq. I'm a civil aviation guy trying to learn the military standard. How do you stop the weapon view (F6) from cutting out when the cluster bomb releases the bomblets? I'd like to watch them impact. I try to get on the enemy view (f7) but there are 50 enemies down there and I cant tell one from the next.

I'm having fun with this first campaign except for the crash to desktops which are no fun when your 2 hours into a mission with no save option. When I call in other aircraft there is a (CAP) or (SEAD) after there name in the atc menu. What do these stand for? Can I rearm/refuel and any friendly base or do I have to fly home? Also, On my first night mission I loaded up a bunch of gbu-12's for some high altitude delivery and then found out I couldn't figure out how to get the TGP out of day vis mode. The RMFCD was just black! Is there a way to get the tgp pod to scan in the dark. Its hard to differentiate between city lights and tanks.
