HOTAS Warthog - Roll and Pitch wont work on F15C
BallsOFire replied to Ore2049's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Yes click Axis Assign, there is a bogus device column right next to the Hotas Warthog column that has the pitch and yaw assigned, I removed that device and assigned Joy X and Joy Y to the HOTAS. -
Thank you. They talked about what's in it but not one word about when!
-
So everything you do in a flight sim besides having your head down fiddling with your cockpit is just to look cool? Speak for yourself!
-
Thanks for pointing this out. Have you seen any activity on this lately?
-
Thank you and yes I would purchase new FC3 aircraft or even the study version if it could be limited similarly.

I'm what I call a semi simmer. I'm a stickler for realism in the areas I deem it to be important for immersion and flying skill, but not for tedium. The areas where I want maximum realism are: 1. Physics - flight models, damage models, weapon performance, TWI/radar performance, countermeasures, etc. 2. Flight control - stick, rudder, trim, flaps, air brake, gear, tail hook, wheel brake, etc. 3. Environment - graphics, AI, etc. But to a somewhat lesser degree: 4. Radar and weapon management systems 5. Aircraft management systems 6. Communications\Command(wingmen, etc.) I like 4 & 5 limited to the level of the Flaming Cliffs A10A for example. I get no enjoyment spending a lot of time managing the aircraft systems, and at my age (an old fart) still keeping a 9-5 job I simply don't have the time and/or patience to do it and keep going in all my other hobbies (cars, guns. RC planes, etc.) too, lol. Just curious how many others there are like me. I would like full detail modules to come with a mode like this, not just full realism or game mode. Could there be a "Flaming Cliffs" mode? What's important in a flight sim to me is state of the art realism in the physics and flight controls so I can out fly or out strategize the other guy with no handicaps, have to manage my energy, full landing difficulty, everything, except just not have to click every button and go through every MFD menu, too old for that crap. :) [/Rant] Thanks for listening.

Thanks to all of you. I had tried more light last night but I tried that again with even more light and I think that was it. Got 6DoF back!

My Odyssey+ is only giving me 3DoF after I updated DCS and it seems to be a common issue but I have not found a solution. Therefore my cockpit head position will not move and the default position is too high, I cannot use the gun for example on a low level strafing run because I can't see the pipper. Does anyone know a fix for this or a way to lower the default head position when using VR? Thanks in advance!
-
I am having this exact problem. I use a Samsung Odessey+ and I had 6DoF before with this and my Acer WMR headset, but I've been out of it for a year or so and now after updating DCS I have only 3DoF. I wouldn't care that much but I can't change my cockpit head position, it's too high, I can't use the gun because I can't get low enough to see the pipper. I have a lamp on my desk that the headset can plainly see and this wasn't a problem before so I don't think it needs more light. Anyone have any other suggestions, or even just a way to lower the head position? BTW I've rebooted everything twice. Thanks for any help.

Really wish someone in ED would catch the Vietnam bug :)
BallsOFire replied to BallsOFire's topic in DCS Core Wish List
LOL, well this would be a good bug! -
I really would like to fly F4s off a carrier or Thuds out of DaNang and try to make it back alive. IMO it was one of the most dynamic air engagements ever and a game changing time in aviation history. You had just the beginnings of air to air missiles that sucked, you still had to out fly your opponent and get behind him but have ass kicking jets to do it in. The SAMs were relatively easy to defeat compared to today's but there were lots of them so high pucker factor, and then trying to make it back to the ship (or at least to the sea where you could be picked up). It just seems like the whole environment would be awesome, and don't forget to pipe in some Doors, lol. I wonder why this era is pretty much ignored? Well at least we have a Huey, that's a good start. Hell I think flying an OV-10, marking targets for the F4s would be awesome too.

I just ordered a TWCS and Warthog flight stick to replace my X52 Pro I've had for years. I don't want rudder pedals under my desk because I've BTDT and to me it just isn't worth it. I hate twisting the stick though and for years have been missing the rudder paddle that was on my Top Gun, so I was very glad to learn about the TWCS. The Warthog throttle doesn't have this feature and I want the paddle axis for rudder way more than I want dual throttles and a bunch of extra switches I have to reach for. I'm thinking of cutting and painting a heavy metal plate to mount the TWCS to so they look like a pair, and I bet it will give a nice quality feel to the TWCS too.

So I bought A-10C after spending some time with the FC3 A-10A, P51 & F5E. I'm not prepared to invest the time and effort to learn the A-10C hardcore, I bought it mostly thinking it might have a more advanced flight model than the A-10A from FC3. Does anyone know how the flight models compare between the two modules and if it changes if you use the Game profile in A-10C? I like realism in terms of flight, just don't enjoy or have time to learn all the systems management. Flame away. :D

I want to start DCS without using VR sometimes for watching tracks. etc. but if my headset (Odyssey+) is plugged in it always boots WMR and Steam VR. I can't figure out how to close WMR or SVR without it also closing DCS. I used to run an ACER WMR headset & a different monitor about a year ago and had no issues like this. Now my setup has changed and so has DCS and Windows and I'm having this issue. Thanks!
-
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I went for the Odyssey+. Found one on Ebay for $250 including shipping. I can't wait to get a headset that I can actually use with both eyes, lol! Now the waiting begins.

I am about to purchase a Samsung Odessey+, but the main difference between this WMR headset and the previous version is that this one has some kind of "anti screen door" display tech that makes everything a little softer/blurrier. I'm afraid it might mask aircraft at long range like when they are single pixels. Has anyone had experience with the Odessey+ vs the earlier Odessey? I have to stick with the Odessey because my IPD is 71, the Acer WMR headset I bought won't work for me. Anyone want an Acer cheap? lol Thanks.

That makes perfect sense, thanks. Didn't eve think about it having to use radar.
-
I tried that early on. I figured it would interrupt the fuel flow, but it has no effect.

I'm having the same issue in the A-10A, in fact I just posted a thread about it in the FC3 subforum. In FC3 there is no fire extinguish function I can find, but I can fly like that forever.
-
When I try and specify an altitude in AGL for a waypoint it limits it to 3937ft. Why? I can specify any altitude in MSL that I want. Am I missing something or is it a bug?
-
I'm mostly flying the A-10A right now but I assume the same is true for the other FC3 planes. When I get significant but not fatal damage either from AA or SAMs it almost always sets one engine ablaze, and I cannot find any function to put it out. It's frustrating because in the A-10 the fire extinguisher levers are right in front of you but there is no way to click them (FC3 does not have clickable cockpits right?) and there is no associated keyboard function. What is almost worse is that I can fly forever with engine fires and nothing ever happens. It never gets better or worse. Plane never blows up, fire never goes out on it's own until you land, then it automagically extinguishes. Not a very realistic damage model if you ask me. I did once jump to my wingman's plane and back, and the AI had extinguished the fire.

I found a workaround for the strange behavior in case anyone is interested. If I save the mission with no player assigned to either plane and start the mission as a spectator, I can then jump into the number 2 element (wingman) and the lead AI flys the mission as he is supposed to. It even works if I jump into the lead plane first and then transition to #2. If I start the mission as lead and then jump however, the lead AI goes bonkers and RTBs like I described above. I thought it strange that I couldn't assign myself (player) to the #2 plane in the mission editor, it seems the player always has to be lead. No problem now though I just start the mission as a spectator and then fly whichever I want so I am happy.
-
I made a mission consisting of one flight of two with the player as lead. On the way to the target I jump (RAlt-J) into my wingman's plane to perform a task and immediately the AI that took over my plane sets the waypoint back to 1 and RTBs. Also the "Next Waypoint. Airfield, Or Target" (default = LCtrl+') does not seem to function at all from either plane. I'm flying the A-10A. Is jumping into other planes not really supported well? Is there another way I can change waypoints form the cockpit?

Figured it out. I forgot I installed a virtual joystick driver in preparation to dick around with facetracknoir. Sorry for the wasted space, mods please delete if possible.

Thanks for the tip but I just figured out what was going on. I was trying to copy from a .zip to a .zip and it just wouldn't do it. There is nothing in the readmefirst.txt about unzipping the download file first so I didn't think to do it. I'm sure the author gives me more credit than I deserve, lol. Anyway once I copy the files into a temp folder first then they copy into the destination .zip no problem. Now I have a different problem! I see no difference in game. I just went into Instant Action FC3 A-10A to test and the ground textures look exactly the same. I don't see how because the old textures are not in that location anymore so how could it have loaded them? Is this mod for a different terrain? EDIT: I seem to notice a difference in other missions, but not that A-10A Instant Action mission for some reason.
