  1. Exactly, the current situation is not normal or logical. Either the cursor should move with your head or with your mouse, but never both at the same time (preferably we can toggle this with a key, I think the cursor should automatically center when switching to "head cursor mode").
  2. +1 Please decouple mouse cursor from head movement! Maybe for some people it isn't a problem, but for me it feels very unnatural and difficult to keep my head perfectly still when moving the mouse, I've never gotten used to it.
  3. The sharpening makes the instruments more readable, but makes parts of the scenery too jittery for me, f.i. water becomes pixelated noise. It’s the opposite of what I’m trying too achieve for the scenery, I’ve tried lower settings but I prefer no sharpening on the scenery. It would be nice to be able to apply sharpening to the cockpit only. It’s obvious different people are trying to optimize different things here, personally I’m looking for a less jittery, more stable image with fluent motion.
  4. Thanks for trying, if your frame rate is holding 45 FPS with PD 1.4 it's perfectly fine of course. Here with PD 1.4 the frame rate drops to 30 FPS too often, with PD 1.1 I can turn up SteamVR SS to 180% and still have better frame rate than with PD 1.4 and SS 100%. For me image quality at PD1.1 - 150% is good enough, but I can see slight improvements up to 180%. Another thing I noticed with PD 1.4 - 100% is that the tearing is a bit worse than with PD1.1 - 150%. It's especially noticeable when turning around in a helicopter. However I think the tearing in VR is pretty bad whatever the settings.
  5. Yes, that is correct. The settings seem to multiply, together with PD 1.1 in DCS I get a nice improvement.
  6. I’ve compared supersampling in SteamVR vs DCS for many hours yesterday. With DCS supersampling the textures seem a bit more steady, giving a cleaner look, with SteamVR supersampling the textures seems to vibrate more (Motion Smoothing ON, I’m not talking about the double image blur without motion smoothing). I’ve found that even with PD 1.1 the textures seem more steady. So instead of PD 1.0 and 200% in SteamVR, I’ve settled on PD 1.1 and 150% in SteamVR for now. PD 1.2 or higher is too costly on framerate for me, and it doesn’t seem to offer much further improvement over SteamVR SS. DCS settings: PD 1.1 most other settings on high except Shadows flat and MSAA 2x SteamVR settings: Video: SS 100% Application: SS 150% Motion smoothing ON
  7. Why not adjust the font size? It is very large now in VR...
  8. Yes, it's frustrating and a turn-off for beginners, I can't read the full text in most training missions. Such a basic issue should be fixed.
  9. At least snow on Mount Charleston, it's a ski area just Northwest of Vegas. It can be hot as hell in Vegas while 20 miles further you're in the snow.
  10. DCS, another year has gone by, still no decent multi-monitor support...
  11. For myself the flying experience is most important, having every little button available is somewhat less important. I prefer to focus on the actual flying including tactics/startegy, both A-10C as well as the FC3 aircrafts are fine for this purpose (it's certainly not arcade style). I use triple 50" screens (low-lag HD) in a otherwise dark cockpit cabin and the feeling of immersion is great, I have the front cockpit panel almost in full in view on my center screen so I can see all primary flight instruments without having to shift the view. I'm a retired airline pilot and I cannot imagine having to fly without those in view (I automatically scan those without moving my head, just quickly focussing my eyes there). I prefer flying without having to navigate with a mouse, it distracts from realism. I guess this will change once I switch to the Oculus Rift, then shifting your viewpoint will become natural. Can't wait to fly the A-10C there :) The thing that distracts me most from a realistic experience is the constant mechanical radio chatter, that's why I wish for being able to quickly adjust the radio volume in flight. I guess this feature would be easy to implement. Alternatively for FC3 the radio volume could be automatically adjusted depending on the background noise, but why make this complicated when assigning 2 keys in-game to the existing helmet audio option solves the problem.
  12. I wish we could adjust the Radio volume level in the cockpit with keys. In FC3 its only adjustable in the Options menu (Helmet audio slider), but it would be realistic if its adjustable during flight. If you set it loud in options, the constant chatter can be annoying, but if you set it normal you could miss important info under noisy circumstances. You want to turn up the volume when it's important to hear the messages, so it would be cool if we could assign keys to the radio/helmet volume!
  13. Agree, I think DCS is wonderful, but multi-monitor support is not up to standard. It's a bit strange that there's still no way to set the angles!??? F.i in this racing sim (Assetto Corsa) you can adjust the settings with an in-game app: Such settings are necessary to set correct and realistic viewing perspectives for your screen size and viewing distance. They have another app to set FOV, viewing angles, seat position, pitch (for each car). I don't mind editing setup files in DCS, but even then it's not possible to set the correct perspectives for my triple 50" setup :( Let's hope they will improve this...
