It would be a looong procedure:)... These data are given in the flight manual of a plane/helo. IvanK: thanks in advance!

Hey all, sorry for another thread but I got no solution from Goooooogle and no idea after RTFM :D... So I couldn't find anything about the Ka-50 reticle's data: which marking is parallel with the helo axis and what are the angle values for the other markings both horizontal and vertical. Without targeting computer, you only have the reticle that helps to aim properly (and, of course, you know all the aiming angles by heart:smartass:). The other reason: I wonder if the S-8 rockets' flight path is correct or not (yes, I have aiming angle charts. And I am fanatic). So I also need the angle between the B8V-20 launcher's axis and the helo's longitudinal axis. If anyone can help me, (drawing etc.) it would be nice. Cheers!

Highest Quality Force Feedback Joystick?
VS461 replied to 's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi all, I also tried Logitech Force 3D Pro. It has very small movement (on the stick, only a few cm's on the end) and a weak force feedback, so it is quite hard to make precise flights (Ka-50, MiG-29 etc. are not FBW stuff so this joy has another con). After a month or so, the center position moved and it was impossible to pull the stick full back (I mean, full back in the sim: I had to push and hold "Down" button on my keyboard to make hard turns). Recalibrations and driver refreshes/reinstalls didn't help, so I sold it and bought an X52. F3D Pro had another interesting habit: it breakdanced in my hand during smooth maneuvering. Maybe the poor FFB support or bad deadzone setup: I don't know, I tried several thing to get rid of this habit (I played FS2004 and LOFC). But I tried Logitech's Strike Force 3D before my F3D Pro and it was really impressed me in FS2004. It has enough strong FFB to hang on the stick over a ravine:D. Unfortunately it's a discontinued stuff and I don't know whether it works with BS or not. Cheers! -
Still a problem Hi, as you suggested, I updated to the latest drivers (.NET 2.0 SP1, Catalyst 8.12 for my new HD4850:D). But LOFC still crashes with custom weather settings. Help me plz, I like 70/700 m conditions:cry:. Happy new year! PS: Some OFF cause I'm so happy and want to tell to evyone: HD4850 with Scythe Musashi... unbelievable! GPU under 55°C @800 RPM w/Overdrive. 32°C in 2D. My own... my precious... my silent Scythe rig. I love it!!! ON EDIT: I've just tried an adverse weather mission again, and it works. What was the problem... who knows? I didn't do anything with the rig, but I overclocked my card with ATI Overdrive, and made a stock and a gamer (690/1188 MHz) profile. After this (no matter if it counts or not), the problem seems to be solved. If only every Bill Gates-related bug could be fixed by itself... Wish a happy new year with full of NOEs, nice landings and without low rotor RPM states...:D or so... Cheers!

Thanks, jpm1, I'll try it. Although my VGA has the latest driver, maybe tomorrow I gonna be a HD4850 owner:thumbsup:, so it may solve the problem (or may cause others...). But I'll check out the SB Audigy and the .NET stuff as well. Cheers!

Hi, I didn't find a general help thread, so... if I set the weather to anything different from the default, FC crashes instead of starting my flight. You know: "Lockon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." stuff appears. I just tried to practice some IMC instead of installing FS2k4:) (after breaking the cloud base, I can destroy evything for fun:music_whistling:). My rig is an Asus P5Q Pro, E8400, 7600GT on 178.24 (HD4850 in progress:D), 2x2G DDR2 800 etc. and runs on XP SP3. Thanks in advance.

Hi, does LO/FC really run under Linux? I've never tried it yet, cause I heard from lots of sources that Wine doesn't work with it... BTW I'll try them (both FC and BS). Cheers!

Hi all, I didn't find an existing and suitable thread, so I had to open a new one... I tried Voice Buddy 3.0 with Flaming Cliffs and I found it very useful. I tried to recognize BS within setup but it wasn't successful. Has anyone succeeded in tweaking VB in any way and played BS with it? Instead of "[+RShift+RAlt+RCtrl", for example, this virtual "co-pilot" thing can ease our/my flight in a cheap way. Anyway, I always comment my switchings during a real flight (for my co-pilot and for the CVR), so it would be a familiar habit. Thanks for your help and merry X-mas!

Hi all, I've just tried Voice Buddy 3.0 to recognize Black Shark as a new game but no success. There was a list full of the same error messages: "this window is not a game and VoiceBuddy can't do anything with it" or something like that. Has anybody tried it? Maybe succeeded in it? With VB3, I could save lots of bucks not to buy a touchscreen...:) Thanx in advance!

Black Shark Techdemo - Trim with Force Feedback
VS461 replied to urze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi all, before urze's stick mods' availability I tried a Wingman Force3D Pro to check the advantages of FFB. Does anybody use this kind of joy with BS? I cannot succeed with it, doesn't work as the SideWinder in urze's tech demo. Or I forgot something in the profiler or in the BS? Thanks in advance -
Trimming impression Hi all, after spreading my rotary wings first, got some interesting exps. If this ain't the proper thread, me apologize, I didn't want to start a new one. Any of you who started BS has any idea about the usage of the trimmer? OK, I use X52 which thing will never be real and looking fwd for urze's FFD joy mod, if my friend's Logitech Force3D Pro satisfies me. But trimming the BS this way is extremely strange. I've started to do hovering smoothly if there's no change in heading. Maybe I'm wrong but trim the Ka-50 pedal with this method is way too far from truth. After a 360-degree spin w/o trimming, the helo started to spin back 360°. Why? In Mi-24s, as I release the trim, AP will stabilize that attitude and the stick will remain in that position. That's fine, X52s have problems, FFB could be better. But on pedals there are "trim" buttons as well, so while I'm working with pedals, AP doesn't stabilize any heading. Finally, AP maintains a given heading (a given course, actually) only in "En-route" mode. OK, this is not a Hind and I've never flown a Ka-50. And we also have difficulties to put buttons on our pedals; maybe Saitek stuffs are OK, but CHs don't. Switching off "NAPRAVLENIE" channel on AP isn't a real solution and the HSI starts to breakdance in this way but it's closer to the reality (I tried in hover only). Anyway, trimming the pedals with the stick trimmer... it must be a better method. Maybe I'll put "NAPRAVLENIE" key assignment on the X52 pinkie. Or on the rudder's additional axes. But this function is not a press-and-hold one... hmmmm... Any suggestions, same or different impressions? Thanks in advance!

Helo stick Hey there, must depend on helo type, I think. On Mi-8, you push the trim button to almost zeroize the artifical "force feedback" (spring load), and by releasing it you set a new zero position for the "force feedback". Pilots "play" with the trim button second by second with smooth stick movements (take-off, land, IFR, for example, not during breakdance above the battlefield); you can hear it in the cargo bay, trim mechanisms are behind the cockpit wall. On Mi-24s, you can use this trim in the same way but you also have the electric 8-way hat switch to move the stick and the neutral position smoothly. For IFR, maybe this is better, for hard maneuvering, you press the trim button, move the stick rapidly and release the button:joystick:. Both helos have autopilot to stabilize the attitude around the 3 axes (plus Hinds have an additional fixed-wing-like AP). By pressing the trim button or using the hat switch (or use the pedals with microswitches on them) the AP turns into a "waiting status". I don't know the exact term in English, it waits for the new neutral attitude and will stabilize this new one. Cheers!

Slung "We have to wait for DCS:Hind then! Regards!!" Course I am waiting for it!:D:joystick:

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
VS461 replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi all, I got a weapon question. With the 9K113 Shturm-V, a Hind gunner is able to choose the impact point on a larger target (which window d'you want to knock-knock on:D), if (s)he is smart enough and the semi-auto SACLOS works fine. With the Shkval and Vikhrs, is it possible? Sometimes I attack ships with the Vikhrs in LOFC and the targeting system just has the lock on the ship. But what if I want to hit the 2nd chimney from back:)? Without locking on the target, the Vikhrs are able to be launched but in hard maneuvering... only with a two-seater, I think. Cheers! -
Hi guys, sorry for a new thread but cannot find an existing and suitable one... I've just started to build a new rig and have a bit trouble; which HDD setup is best: - one partition for both the OS (XP) and main program files (LOFC, DCS:BS:)) on a HDD, or - one partition for the OS and another for these programs on the same HDD, or - one HDD for the OS and another for programs? I don't want to build a RAID rig, just want the best performance. One HDD will be a WD Raptor (just one:() and one or two "pure" 7200RPM SATA things. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Same for Mi-24s:) To touch down a 12-ton warbird after autorotation... another nice question of practice. I heard about NFTC's Bell 206 autorotation training, they do it till the ground. But JetRangers are light helos (an owner showed me the main gearbox. Almost good for a tail gearbox on Mils:D He said there are differences...). I'm sure that practicing until-touchdown autorotation with Mi-8/17/24-sized helos reduces that army's fleet very fast:D THX!

new vid Hey guys, after downloading the winrar warns me that there's a CRC error in the zipped video:(. Any similar problem? Is there an other downloading mirror or simple .wmv file somewhere? Thanks! -
Setup Oh... one more word! Preparing for Black Shark, I am thinking on Urze's HOCAS as well :joystick: :D But I think Saitek could do something big rotorhead hit. Like the MFD... for ABRIS... Hmmmm! Cheers!

Pedals Hi, I've tried CH pedals on the Hungarian http://jetfly.hu site's display setup (they use it at Air Force recruiting roadshows with MiG-29: big hit:thumbup: smiling kids at all!) but I have Saitek stuff. 0. Easier to buy here in Hungary; 1. It is cheaper (not a small advantage:)); 2. A strange aspect: it adds bigger sprawl to my legs (could add a bit more:music_whistling:). Advantage if you like or fly Russian choppers like Mi-8/17/24 and our Shark. But I saw Bell 206-like homemade pedals with little sprawl. If someone prefers that design or fly a similar one, a CH or a Heli-Kit-like ( http://www.heli-kit.com.ar ) pedal set can be better. If this aspect counts... Cheers! PS. Why H-K doesn't have HOCAS?????:)
-
Setup Hi Fred, if it is still actual... I use Saitek X52 and pedals, think there ain't no problem with them. I have friends said it is a piece of ... and already worn off but I have them still work fine (although I ain't an all-night-simmer:joystick:), except the POV hat switch sometimes ruts. But if you have TrackIR... I will also have one:) Saitek's may be a cheaper way for HOTAS. But there's a lot pros and cons about Cougar and X52 as well and lots of arguments at LOMAC forums around... was a big help, hmmm?:D Cheers!

Airflow around and through main rotor and airframe can generate some interesting sound (and vibration) effects. Some are normal:), some don't:( Think I need a ButtKicker :D THX!

Autorotation Nice indeed! Like as written in the handbook:D How about main rotor RPM and blades' AoA before touchdown (what is the normal RPM)? THX!
