Hi, Quite interesting, below 1 grand for screen and frame? From simpit? Or a guess? Does have anyone pictures from the projector arrangement? Screen arrangement? Thanks
-
I just saw a picture of an F14 with two AGM88, but you are right, never made it operational, found a nice page http://www.topedge.com/panels/aircraft/sites/mats/f14-detail-view3side.htm
-
Does the LN F14 be able to carry and use AGM88? Thanks
-
if F-5 are comming with NTTR, and NTTR comes with DCS2, knowing about the leadtime of a DCS Aircraft :music_whistling: anyway, bought today the missing modules in my collection, enough to play for the next few months
-
@combatace it works also for rear comming AIM120 quite well, even with lower speed :megalol: Actually i am happy for any DCS Aircraft, everyone can set the Balance in the mission editor, even some third country ( MIG21, SU-25) vs. 1st Country (F15C, A10C) scenario.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
six.dof replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I would like to have more aircraft like Su27 and F15c level, like MIG23/27/25, Su22, 35s , F5/14/16/18/104G/ 106.....+ a multi aircraft dynamic mission campaign, more maps , I would pay for each aircraft 25-30US$, also for the dynamic campaign and maps I would pay. I love DCS level planes ( only combat aircraft, not all those trainers), but the project lead time is too long, also the current campaign system and DCS map kill my fun on it. Does someone know the distribution for hardcore simmers, FC3 and arcade for DCS? Is there a VOC process? Before everyone shoot on me, this is just my thinking and it is a question, not more ! -

4k Philips Monitor 40" at 60hz
six.dof replied to rajdary's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I got mine yesterday (650 US$) first run I was a little bit disappointed, as the picture looks not smooth and somehow muddy, after short Google, standard setting is Displayport 1.1, after change to 1.2 ( on the monitor), perfect, before I had a 27" 2560x1440, what was not bad. I run standard DCS on a i7 2600k@4.2GHz, 16GB, sapphire 280X/3GB, interesting is that the fps not much less as on the old screen. What makes me relaxed to wait for the new AMD graficcard generation, which hopefully be available in the next 6 months to acceptable prices. -
Hi:helpsmilie:, just hope to find a solution here, after install my PC ( I7 2600K, 16GB, 280X, ASUS Gene Mainboard) new ( from Win7 to Win8.1 pro), the throtle of my G940 wan't work anymore, i can calibrate, can see that it works in the system control center, but DCS 1.2.10 can't set the Axes for thrust, i can use the R1 and R2 ( small wheels on the side and front) from the Throttle, but not the throtle ( both not working). seems like DCS don't recognize, or find them if i try to set them under AXES assigment in the game. I don't use the Logitech game software for button or axes assigment, but the software is installed. Thanks ahead for any suggestion, Su-27 is waiting, no fun with the little wheels for power control.

AI MIG21BIS I hope the DCS MIG21BIS is more realistic than the AI in view of flight performance and damage model. I try to beat the AI in different scenarios, a challenge, seems like the flight performance is similar like the F15C, is impressive that the AI MIG21 can fly so long time on AB, nearly run out the F15C on fuel and speed.:( Interesting is the damage that the AI MIG21 take from direct hits, some AIM9 direct hit the Nozzle, the damm think just continue to fly and fight.

@ cichlidfan Hi, i put more than one question in the poll, not sure is clever, but will see. i think the most people will have interest in DIY and buying from time to time some parts,as it is a hobby, will see, the poll is for 30 days. thanks for the comments. Sven
-
Dear DCS comunity, i am always curious how much people are willing / able to spend for their hobby. I like to make a polling to figure out what the community wants, and what they are willing to spend for it, for something like in the attached pictures. The polling is for a F18C cockpit replica as perfect as technical possible, 1 functional with the related DCS module, based on the information that can get from Lua interface. 2 DIY or finish 3 without visual system ( no screen, no projector), 4 with MFD and other displays inside the cockpit 5 no computer, everthing get connected over interfaces like USB / VGA/ DP/ HDMI I don't want that this goes to complicated, please read first before you vote, and think it is avaliable. I am happy for every construcktive comment and suggestion. Thanks Sven

I am out here, as i understand that this topic will always have different opinion, and lead to nowhere, as no one can proofe his point with hard evidence.

Hmm, okay, back to facts 1. F117 shoot down in the 90's by a very old SAM system, how ever they do it. 2. only 195 F22 totally produced, productionline closed and gone. 3. F35 with massive political problems in the F35 club country's 4. F22 be defeated in dogfight several times by 4+ generatio jets ( dosent matter the situation is realistic or not) 5. AMRAM has a quite low score for BVR 6. no one knows the reallity, as the information that be accesable are filtert and modifyed to serve different purposes, only pilots, and operators upward knows this reallity, and they don't tell for sure. 7. there was no fight of equal power the last 70 years 8. military research and equipment is expensive, not every country will remain on the top, as the economy goes down in western country, other things goes more important, other country can spend mor money. 9. one Aircraft type alone will not make the difference in a conflict, if equal power fights. 10. there is no reliable information, how good Stealth works in real combat enviroment with a technical equal oponent, as this information are not avaliable.
-
@ USARStarkey, totally agree, but four things 1. this is today, how about in 15 years? 2. it is unlikely that someone attack US, where to park all this stuff for example in Japan or Taiwan? 3. AIR defense system in the east advanched a lot in in the last 30 years, a real picture can be only with a full Air defence scenario, maybe you draw your picture on a possible situation around Taiwan, how this would look like, today? the reality is that no equal power fought since 70 years. 4. 1944, Me262 was avaliable, superior to existent technology, but still can't make a difference against the high qty of conventual technology at the time, similar as 187 F22 in a conflict with the same dimension today.
-
until 2030, i guess there are a lot more than 40 Su37 globally, and none of others is quite optimistic, if you see the finance power of China and India, and the economy situation of the country's in the F35 club, i think is not sure the F35 will be ever in big qty on the sky. but there will be no more than 187 F22, - the lost in trainning. to make a attack on a hostile Airspace with a F35, which is defended by Systems like S300, S400,EWR like P14 Oborona and P18 Spoon Rest D , A50, Mig31, Su27,Su30,Su35, T50, the refueling in Air have to be done in quite a distance, or stainoned within the range of SRBM ( F35 combat range around 600nm in best case) the above Aircrafts i mentioned, have at least double combat radius as the F35, and Weaopons like R33, R37, K100 on the Mig31, will make it difficult to defend AWACS and Tanker, if they have to come close to the border, to support the "short" range of the F35. aditional we should think for the technology imrovement the next 30 year, of course on both sides, but the chance that Stealth be defeated by technology, is a realistic thread, as VHF envolve rapidly, is just a question of time, until VHF can be used to guide SAM, instead to give a rough position.

good to see that Afghanistan is the only point of criticism to my last post, i put it there as hook for the dosen't matter what complains. of course i understand that Afghanistan have nothing to do with modern Army defeat. i think if we talk about possible conflict where the F22 should establish Air dominance, can be within the next 20 to 30 years, as the next generation competition similar ATF, comes 2030. until them, there are a lot Su35, T50, J20, J31 out there, 187 F22 are nothing for a global power, they can deploy maybe 2/3 of it (not counting in that losese can't be replaced by new one), the Argument for the 1000+ F35, will see how many finally been bought, or can be affordable for the related Nation's,, with his short range, they have to be stationed, or refueled quite near to enemy territory, a sitting duck, as this are the first targets besides AWACS and communication in a conflict.

I think a lot of people over estimate the stealth technology, all information that be discussed here, are mostly from the internet, like " role out the numbers" who can role out real numbers for the F22, was not the first time, to state technology and capability, to push the opponent back or in expensive research to follow up, there is a technology War, all information that be public accessible, are " Marketing" information, to support this War, proof to the own people that the money is not spend for nothing, the truth, is only to a limited people accessible, pilots upwards, the technician who repair this stuff, even they know how to operate, don't know how well it works under operation condition. Therefore 95% of all discussion! same as DCS ( if it comes to system capabilities ) are based on those information, even pilots are involved, they have to keep the reality otherwise they go in trouble. On some events as Red Flag, the equipment runs on low capability mode, as even " friends" don't like to share the truth. And if a 2000 kill the F22, who knows, maybe is better, or just had a lucky day, War is not a one man or one system show,.Afghanistan is a very good example, how a high tech Army can be defeated.
-
This topic is quite difficult, but I think at least the most will agree, that finally the pilots capability will make the difference, if the technology gap is not so big, like between F22 and Su35. Some replay F 117, as far I know, not in active duty anymore, have different reason, but one is for sure, detection probability gets higher, as east technology advanced. Detection range , To detect a missile like Amram, I think is much more than 50nm in a combined Air defense environment, as there work more radar systems together, everything is linked over datalink, systems be smarter,. Faster. I know that a HARM can be detected from a Patriot system ( shoot with safe distance in training environment ), HARM is much bigger than Amram, but this was 15 years ago. S400 is according experts the best SAM system in the moment, much more capable as Patriot, I am sure they can detect an Amram 50nm ++. Another thing are passive radar, comes also up in the 90's, Chinese bought it, not sure where they are today with this technology, but if they are successful, sure they will produce big qty, like the DF-21D. F22, the production line are closed, as this system is to expensive ( I think they figure out, it is not worth the money, that's why they close the lines, otherwise the would keep the lines sleeping, for the case they need more, or they work on something better) the states live since years on credit, how many J-20 can be produced from 1% of China BIP? How many T50 or Su35 they can buy for 1%BIP? The reality is that the US reduce research, because of economy reasons, which leads that other country's like China, India with their strong growing economy can afford and attract all this technology company's and people, to work on their projects. 195 F22, what they can do, globally shared on all hotspots, How many Su35 , T50 will be out there? As this models will be also on export after a while. As long there is no conflict, where the F22 have to deal with modern east Air defense environment, we will not know it can be detected or not, but fact is that a clean F22 vs. Su35 want be happen, as for sure there are modern land, sea and Airborne radar, optical and acoustic systems , which work we'll together, update the Su35 via datalink, make it difficult to keep undetected all the time. I guess we will not know.

To give my 2 cent. F22 is technology from the 90's, even constantly improved, it is 90's F117 be defeated in Yugoslavia war, ( Mig29 EOS or SA? Doesn't matter) I think such specialize technology as stealth, have a quite short time advantage, as on the opposite side Russia and china have technology, and most important, money! To develop countermeasures to reduce or eliminate the advantage. If a battlefield radar like Cobra can detect artillery shells, sure Radar can detect a Amram, the course, and speed will give the F22 position. Sure in the year 2010, is possible to implement such capabilities in a airborne radar, update everyone via Datalink instantly. It is depend on the situation, a clean BVR fight, without any AWACS, or ground radar support, I think F22 have advantage over the Su-35, Typhoon, Rafale........in a situation with AWACS and ground Radar support, I think F22 have no advantage, a good pilot know how to escape an Amram, if he know from where, height, and with how much energy the missile comes, in such situation, it comes quite fast to the dogfight situation, where in first place the pilots capability counts, second are the machine . The past 70 years, there where no conflict between equal powers, for sure, getting Air dominance over a country like Irak, Afghanistan , Libya , the F15 is good enough, and the F22 will be even better, but a conflict for Taiwan, Baltic , I think the F22 would be not invisible and unbeatable as some writing here. Maybe that is the reason why the US Government stop the production, as for less money nearly same capability available , F35 will face the same destiny as the F22 program. And the last point Anyone here believe, that the information in the internet are 100% reliable for military technology?
