2012 ? The KA-50 will surely have night vision by then  (oh, and the ka-52 has come in production, so can be implemented in the game.... (sory, SIM))
-
Yes, life of a Beta-tester isn't just fun and games.... Or so they try and make us believe :smilewink: For now, I wouldn't mind flying with this 'very old' version. At least I would be flying:pilotfly: Thanks for the movie, great flying (and now we just wait for someone to try it in real life :P).

Ot: Power down after apache hits wires
quo vadis replied to quo vadis's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Unfortunately every article is in dutch. But someone recorded the radiocontact with his scanner: http://fmc.dotnet-services.nl/waves/redskin_12_hit_cables.mp3 "The registration of the Redskin12 is Q-01 (this is the one in problems). For those interested the reg of the Redskin22 is Q-16. " -
In the Netherlands a 100.000 people have been without power for 48 hours. An apache helicopter was on a nightflying training and hit the powerlines over a river. The apache landed a couple of km's away in a field. No one was injured. http://www.nufoto.nl/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/80215ea3a41a8694a4f9baf3475daccf.jpg http://www.nufoto.nl/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/aa4dced9335e885f4f5a3bc09dc4bb19.jpg http://www.nrc.nl/multimedia/archive/00204/apache_204812a.jpg Another reminder how challenging nightflying can be. (let's hope DCS comes with an 'upgraded' KA50 so we can fly at night. Maybe a KA52 :smilewink:?)

Grinning right until the villagers came out with a vengeance.... :megalol:

Isn't that true for all pieces of military equipment ?! Make love not war :smilewink: Thanks all for clarifying. So it's a high intensity war type of weapon, stuck in time....
-
After some discussions on this forum it is still not clear to me for what kind of conflict the KA-50 is intended. From what I understand so far: On one side: The KA-50 has no Radar Warning, because it is intended for a 'low intensity' war where there are no radar threats or all radar threats are eliminated. But the weapons of a KA-50 suggest otherwise. Vikhr are intended for armoured targets (like tanks ?) whom I expect to have some air protection ?! The gun is very powerful and has 'fixed' mounted for shooting targets at medium to long range. whereas a rotating turret seems much more logical if you're fighting infantry etc.:helpsmilie: Any suggestions ?

No, a resounding YES to the real thing ! (Does Kamov sell to private buyers :smilewink: )

Last sunday I had my first (I'm optimistic more will follow...) helicopter lesson. I allways fly with a twist rudder, but the pedals in the real thing worked opposite to what I do with my joystick . So, if you ever want to try the real thing, rudders are mandatory.... (I'm still in doubt. Buying a good joystick with ruddercontrol :joystick: or spending that money on another flight in real life :punk:)

Here's a video of this (or a simular) action

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
quo vadis replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
attitude stabilization ? Like, preventing the pilot to become too angry ? :music_whistling: Thanks for the movie. I've found another advantage of co-axial rotors: They turn really slowly... And backwards.. -
Wouldn't it be an idea to have the video (and future video's) available as a torrent ? In that case the community would distribute it amongst themselves and the DCS-server wouldn't get in trouble...
-
I have seen video images of this rescue attempt on the news in Januari. There should be some on the internet ?!
-
I presume there are no AWACS in DCS ?! (that would spoil it a bit...) + I presume jet pilots are also carefull to use their radar to prevent them being spotted ? Or is this not an issue with jets. In Afghanistan apaches (and A-10's) are mainly being used against infantry (to support friendly forces). Visibility on radar or IR is not really an issue there I think. Will there be similar missions in DCS ?
-
It IS a good read, but... Now I'm totally lost:smilewink: crawl like a cat at 120 mph.... Looks like my tactics of rushing in isn't so bad after all :music_whistling:
-
How fast would you fly to maintain a 'low profile' ?! I have the bad habit of going for maximum speed so I get to the action sooner. If this means action finds me sooner, I might have to slow down. But how much ?

What helicopter would you like to see?
quo vadis replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I am with you all the way  Flying AND shooting makes for a hefty payload on the pilot. Could use a gunner... + It shouldn't be too hard to model if there's allready a KA-50 -
There was a helicopter simulation I played long time age (perhaps team apache ?) where you did do SAR missions. Even downed helicopters were rescued...

Other helicopter sims worth playing?
quo vadis replied to therion_prime's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Nobody plays Search and Rescue ?! OK, you can't shoot anybody (but you can kill people :smilewink:) but the flightmodel is quite realistic. If you want to practise flying, nothing beats setting weather to storm and flying low :joystick: -
The Ka-50 Black Shark thread
quo vadis replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There will be no 'fast startup' option ?! e.g. engines allready running, just release motorbreak ? Though I admit it can be interesting to follow correct procedures, sometimes I just want to get up and go. Shoot some basterds :joystick: !!! -
The Ka-50 Black Shark thread
quo vadis replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I do hope it is possible to start the engines with a simple procedure (like in SAR ) ?! I do like realism in flying, but am not really interested in following countless procedures :smilewink:
