  1. fair, with me it was plugging the usb into the case instead of the usb hub. now it behaves very well. I still have my rudder, stick and saitek throttle quadrant in the usb hub, just the winwing throttle in the case.
  2. Why no need... i know many people would welcome modules like that. Get a whole planeset for under 100$? diverse mp options. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
  3. oh no I'm on intel coffee lake - i8700k. Mobo- Aorus Z390pro (BIOS 15/15/2019)
  4. Aren't there plans to make planesets with lower cockpit fidelity ( i presume, non clickable but full on flight model) specifically for bob and other periods? I think I heard this in an interview a year or 2 back.
  5. hey I seem to have the same issue... I've recently updated the firmware on it. I also have mine plugged in via a on/off usb hub, wonder if that's the issue?
  6. Hi K-51, I'm interested in buying one. I'm based in the UK.
  7. yes but that's several button presses. I'm looking for a single button press solution. Let me explain: one button. Button Press - camera zooms in to a preset zoom level from current zoom level. duration of smooth zoom 0.5 seconds or so. Ideally this speed is adjustable. Button Release- camera zooms in to previously held zoom level, smoothly in 0.5 seconds. So instead of 3 buttons I only need one.
  8. the ww2 warbirds for now. it's ok i'll use the zoom axis for now and maybe will figure something out in the future.
  9. yeah so it looks like there's a bit specifically for VR... Ok I didn't find any Quick zoom options in DCS apart from some mods maybe. But then if i get used to a mod enabled zoom and then decide to play online i won't be able to do it... so i don't want to do that. The functionality I'm after is: On Button press, zoom in (either instantly, but better yet smoothly progressively) On Release - zoom goes back to previous level. (again best if it's smooth and progressive)
  10. Hi! Where can i find a quick zoom setting in DCS? In IL2 and Blitz there's a quick zoom setting that allows you to zoom to a desired FOV for the duration of the button press. Once the user lets go off the button zoom reverts to last remembered zoom. Essentially it's a decoupled snap view, where the head position doesn't change, only the zoom and there's a transition "zoom" animation which is preferred to the usual snap zoom effect. As the latter can be jarring and make you lose track of your target sometimes. any help appreciated!
  11. The map layout i can live with. It's early access so likely to change anyway?. I'm more interested in the early plane set.
  12. the store description specifically refers to june 1940 though? Ah good that they are working on it. But yeah would be nice to get everything at the same or near the same time haha.
  13. I've just seen they added the channel map. Does this mean work on the early spits/hurricanes and 109's is planned??
  14. That all looks quite promising for the future :) though someone would have to come up with an early luftwaffe pack and then put them all together.
  15. Hi! I'm eagerly awaiting release of the normandy map, and basically I'm very impressed by how far ED have taken this project. (+ the 3d parties making planes from the same era). Do you think we'll see a Battle of Britain scenario and if so, what year do you guys see it happening?
  16. Right, thanks, but that's where I run into problems. For instance as I'm running the DCS open beta I'm looking here: Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\View In the SnapViewsDefault.lua it says: --reformatted per-unit data to be mod system friendly --this file is no longer should be edited for adding new flyable aircraft , DCS automatically check core database for this data(i.e. where you define your aircraft in aircraft table just define ViewSettings and SnapViews tables) -- result of ingame editing is saved to Saved Games/<USER>/DCS/Config/View/SnapViews.lua Ok so I go to Saved Games/<USER>/DCS/Config/View/SnapViews.lua SnapViews list several aircraft but the 190 Dora or 109 Kurfurst aren't among them. Even if they were, each aircraft has 13 snapviews. The last one is labeled default view i guess that is the middle zoom or default zoom view. Which entry is the widest zoom and which entry is the furthest zoom? And how do I add the right aircraft? Do I create a new entry? To further illustrate what I'm talking about, I found a file called server.lua under Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\View. It also has a note saying: "--this file is no longer should be edited for adding new flyable aircraft , DCS automatically check core database (i.e. where you define your aircraft in aircraft table just define ViewSettings and SnapViews tables)" But these lines interest me: CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,140.000000}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false ,90.000000,0.500000}, I'd like to set something similar, bascially I want my zoom out button to go to 120 or 130 and my zoom in to perhaps 25? I'm getting a bit lost in this.
  17. Thanks, I generally don't bind my view to a zoomable axis due to a twitchy potentiometer in my x52 throttle, instead I use 3 POV buttons on the throttle for wide, normal and zoomed in. I also use a zoom in and zoom out slow, those are on my joysticks pov hat. As I mentioned before I'd like to know how to change the default FOV limits. is it possible?
  18. Hi All, long time Il2 Cliffs and occasional Il2 BOS flyer here. I've recently installed DCS 1.5 and have been enjoying the ww2 birds. Very well made and lots to take in. I've learned the basics, e.g. takeoff-freeflight-landing. I do have a few questions, first of all can I please have a "for dummies" guide to changing the FOV limits? I find the default wide view far too wide and the zoomed in view a tad too zoomed in. I hear it's possible to change it, but haven't been able to make it work so far. Keep in mind i'm on the 1.5 so perhaps things work differently? Second question - is it possible to do a readout on a second monitor? I use a gadget called Goverlay for Cliffs, the IL2 module had to be custom programmed by the developer but it was made possible using the TF readout interface available on ATAG forum. Is there a program I can use on a second monitor with DCS? Alternatively is the code for the readout public so it could be used by the Goverlay? many thanks in advance! badger
  19. thank you, that was quite useful! I've been flying mostly on ata 1.4 and occasionally squeezing 1.8 out for 30 seconds at a time. Even at 1.4 I was able to outclimb the mustang but not enough to successfully get on it's tail. Passing shots here and there...:)
  20. Hi guys, I've been playing around with DCS yesterday (kurfurst) and set up most of my controls etc. Pretty happy with most of it so far, however have a few questions. Is there an event or status bar that gives you visual feedback as to what button you've pressed, whether you've suffered damage etc.? I can't find anything that would be similar to CLiffs bar which I got quite used to. Also I'm looking for a good tutorial for the Kurfurst, Dora and Mustang, describing each planes capabilities, recommended ATA's, max times etc. I admit I haven't looked far yet, thought I'd ask here. and lastly seeing that DCS 2.0 is out, should I stay with DCS 1.5 (only installed 2 days ago) or move to 2.0, are there any huge differences? Many thanks.. hnbdgr
