  1. Ahhh. Thanks very much. Sorry I couldn't find the thread and I know how much people hate covering already covered topics on this site. Thanks again, Hobbsy
  2. Hey guys, Hobbsy here. I'm having problems playing 1.5 gazelle. I can start-up and fly the SA342 in the Nevada 2.0, but playing the campaign in 1.5 makes the engine bust at a certain rotor RPM. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Hobbsy
  3. Are you a pilot in real life? Because I fully understand what Mbpt was talking about but specifically you asking "why would you want to go light on skids?" Have you ever heard of air assault units? It's similar to us in Blackhawks but we have wheels obviously and we extend our struts preparing for a load up and take off. It allows us to take off at the same time in similar fashion. Different pilots have different speeds going from a full resting idle to light on skids/wheels and then I'm airborn. But light on skids/wheels allows for a more uniform takeoff. It also is a requirement when we are picking up troops in a combat environment with a hot extract. I'm not saying your completely wrong, but his point is that the balancing point that you are talking about is UNACHIEVABLE. There is no reason why a helicopter should start to slide on skids and then strike the tail without the slide being arrested. Someone mentioned it already and I agree with him though, i do not think its a problem with the FM so much a problem with friction between the new map surfaces and the skids. 100% agree
  4. Ohhh gotcha. Btw, much respect sir, I'm currently a uh-60 crew chief in a medevac unit in California building my flight packet and love the hawk as well as flying the uh-1 in this sim. I don't know how long you have been retired, mainly if you knew any of the pilots that were recently lost in the special ops accident in Florida but we deployed with a lot of them and my condolences if you did. 5. What start up procedure in the manual are you referring to because my manual, under start-up procedure, it just tells me to follow the tutorial in the game? Am I missing something here?
  6. Damn, ok thank you for the reply cyberadje. I'll stick to IR Thanks again, Hobbsy
  7. Hey guys, I'm sorry if this has been covered, I tried searching for the problem but couldn't find it anywhere. Not to mention it might not even be a problem idk.. I updated to the new 1.5.3 update yesterday, as my dcs was still back in November version. I haven't been able to play or update with work and flying(bi-annual flight hour requirements), but I tried to hop on and get a mission in last night after the update and tried 3 times same mission, and could not, for life of me, get my radar to pick up anything except my wingman. I've been doing the mission for months with no problems but now all of a sudden.. No dice. To give some details, I used the same process as before as far as start up and switch position. I start warming up my radar during taxi, after takeoff I arm countermeasures, and open the lid to the dispenser switch. Once into mission profile (right around the coast at about 3000m high), I switch master mode to air, select pylon 3-4 (r-3r), and select SAR. Once closing in, I put up the master arm switch, turn my radar on, shut lights off and jettison the centerline fuel tank. Once within range where my radar normally picks them up, I get nothing.. I tried nosing down a little, and nosing up, and not a damn thing. The enemies are 3 mig-23mld's and the engagement is usually about 2000 - 2500 meters above the sea. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys Hobbsy
  8. ED: Huge supporter of everything you do and a big fan of what you've done for the flight sim community but please, for heavens sake, fix the replay issue. I have not been able to watch a single track since 1.5 first hit beta, because every track is an alteration of what really happened. Ill fly a mission, and then watch the track, and the replay shows me not even getting off the runway. Or i will takeoff and as soon as combat hits, the replay shows me plummeting to the water/ground without even firing a single missile, like my pilot just went full brain-dead. Regards, Hobbsy
  9. So update, Art-j gave me a great idea. Coupled with the idea that not many people have this problem, i figured i would switch brakes from my pedals to a button. Now... the drag chute works no problem. haha for anyone that has this problem, no brakes on one of your pedals. Thanks for all the input though guys! Hobbsy
  10. Yes. As soon as I take off, I retract gear, shut off taxi light, set the lever to neutral, and then set flaps up. It all usually is a pretty smooth process
  11. Hey guys, I know this has been discussed a little bit but I searched for a while and everywhere I searched, didn't come up with an answer so I figured I needed to post something to get some help. The low-down: the problem is I started off trying to touch up my landings in the 21 so I resorted to touch-and-go's and found out the hard way that the drag shoot didn't open after multiple touch-downs. So then I attempted to make my own mission. Now this mission has a take off, aerial combat, landing for fuel, then a ferry flight back to home base. What I've found is that through both landings, my drag chute isn't opening. Now before anyone draws any conclusions, I don't use a custom key-binding, just the standard "P" button, and I make sure the cover is open. Any help is greatly appreciated. Btw, this problem started with 1.5, don't know if the two are related but... Thanks, Hobbsy
  12. Hello guys, just wanted to cap this thread off by saying thanks to everyone who nominated and commented on the spirit of the gift. I am proud to announce that the number rolled was 1. And seeing as the first one nominated added to the list after the nomination was Yob. I hope he thanks J7G for the nomination. Have a very happy holiday season everyone. Hobbsy
  13. On that note, i will add that i cant be the one to pick the recipient as i feel like giving them all one, so i will compile the 3 or 4 names on a list and then roll a dice until i roll something between the amount of names i have. Please, let me know if you have a better idea, and may you all have a great holiday season.:) Hobbsy
  14. Thank you guys for the recommendations, and for the compliments. I know that if i was in your position as in seeing this post from someone else, i would not be surprised at all due to our community. i have PM's out to all the people who im trying to gift it to, to make sure they still don't have the module. My only regret is that i didn't anticipate how bad i feel about not being able to give them all a key. But i ask that if you play with anyone nominated, then let them know to get back to me please so i can gift it. Hobbsy
  15. Hello everyone, hope your all enjoying the holidays, got a little bit of a gift of my own. Recently, I had a problem with the mig-21 module. Just the whole 1.5 bugs still being worked out with the activation process. Anyways, I am currently waiting on a confirmation email that my activations have been refilled after resetting them. However, I am not prepared to wait for a day or two, so I bought another key. It was easily one of the most justifiable things I've done seeing as how good the module is and how much LNS does for us. Being single and having a good job meant that it was easy to press the buy now button and not think twice. I'd like to give away my product key when cobra gets back to me so someone, who doesn't have the module already (if there's anyone that doesn't), can enjoy this fine plane. If you'd like to fly it but can't afford it, or know someone who does, then please either post here or send me a PM. Happy holidays and hope to make someone's day. First come first serve, I have no reservations just want to give someone a gift early. Hobbsy
