Maybe because I ordered the tomcat shirt. All I see is phantom shirts being shipped and posted in social media.

Funny thing is two squadron mates received an additional phantom shirt.

    Received mine today. 😀

  3. The bug is there since end of december after a SteamVR stable update. (Bug has been reported in the beta, but no one cared.)

It  affects DCS even if the Varjo OpenXR is used. (SteamVR components are used for tracking) -  It throttles DCS to 10 fps.

Only people with Steam DCS / or Steam MSFS are affected for some reason. I use DCS standalone and don't have the problem.
A friend experienced it when setting up his new aero. He switched to DCS standalone and had no issues any more.

A workaround is disabling OpenVR in Varjo Base. Another workaround is using an older SteamVR Version, e.g. the 1.27.5 beta.

I'm losing hope this will geht fixed: https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/3/4036978698787139585/
It feels like the Aero is already dying. 😞

  4. You can have different presets and startup options with DCS Updater - someone already suggested that tool above.

You can switch presets for 2D and for VR and have the launch options for 2D / VR in one handy tool.

Ingame presets in the graphics options menu are also a way to fast switch 2D / VR graphics settings.
(A disadvantage of the ingame presets in the graphics option screen might be, that some of them restart DCS...or is it only the "Fullscreen" option, not sure)

I had this all setup and working for a few months now. I missed a few weeks flying and now after the usual intervening update when I run things up I get a 10FPS with higher theoretical. I am setup to use the Varjo Open XR but it does not seem to be working and I am not sure why. I can set SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime and it works but capped at 45FPS.

Not sure what has changed that Varjo OpenXR doesn't seem to work anymore 😞

I have tried changing all permutations of the DCS command line settings but I normally run it with "-force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR".

I don't have the OpenXR toolkit installed but did previously. I uninstalled it as part of ditching my Quest 2 for the Varjo Aero.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi,

currently there is a SteamVR Bug that throttles DCS to 10 fps for Aero Users.
The bug also affects you, if you are using the VarjoOpenXR Runtime.
(SteamVR is used for tracking but due to the bug it loads additional stuff that throttles Varjo)

Workaround is to disable OpenVR in Varjo Base. (your last picture "Compatibility")

I see you are using DCS steam Edition. The bug doesn't affect DCS standalone users (yet?) for some reason. (Workaround 2 = switch to standalone 🙂 )

It would be helpful to post here to make the issue more prominent:

If you take into account the rendering resolution drop to 0.5, this is a reduction of 75% of the pixel count.  I think it looks plausible but the image quality must suffer a lot.

You don‘t see a reduced quality, because it‘s reduced where you don‘t look. You can even improve the clarity by supersampling only the eyetracked focus region a bit. Only on videos the reduced resolution of the downsampled aeras is visible.

Can someone with a Varjo Aero post their settings.cfg. The ones posted for the Crystal were really helpful (i've been over the advanced config page a few times now)but would like to see the Pimax settings replaced with the Aeros settings as they are different and I'm not able to find those settings on the page.

For Aero I would recommend Varjo-Foveated (VFR) instead of Quad-Views-Foveated (QVF). Different settings and no OXR Toolkit possible with VFR, though.

  7. 1900 € (excl. tax?) for the base model without a headstrap…

So I‘m approaching 3000 € if I need eyetracking and want to be able to wear it? Uhhh..😕
I was hoping for <2.000 € incl. tax for a model with eye tracking (and headstrap!!).

Edit: Oh and no inside out tracking so 1-2 tracking base stations (approx. 150 € each) needed.

So DCS is broke. Something updated today (steamVR?) and now DCS is locked at 10fps on the damn load screen and everywhere else using the Varjo OpenXR.

This was also the case for MSFS (11fps there).

MSFS will work with the steam version of openXR back to normal.

DCS will work with the Steam version only on the load screen (90FPS) but then promptly crash if trying to load anything even the ME...

    Anyone else seeing this?

I literally reinstalled 2.9 2 days ago and it was FINE.

Also, OpenVR does work, but its all distorted (cross eye?) IDK.

If you are affected you might try to disable "OpenVR" in Varjo Base. It helped someone on the Varjo Discord getting back to 90 fps. Maybe there is some sort of conflict after the SteamVR update.

I am on the SteamVR (beta) and run DCS (Openbeta) standalone, if that helps clarify anything...

edit: oh you are the guy for whom it still works and you are on standalone dcs. So the standalone / Steam theory still stands.

😄.. This is I run IL-2 CLoD VR (as recently as last night) in SteamVR and it is fully updated, so that isn't it... at least on my system.

Yes. Only happens with DCS for all the other cases.

some guys reported this on the varjo discord. (MT client in all cases)

There was a steamvr beta update (stable update possibly yesterday) that seemed to introduce the problem. One user opted out of steamvr beta and the problem was gone. Probably the bug is now in stable steamVR so maybe opting out is not possible any more.

This all happens with Varjo OpenXR being the active runtime. (steamvr only used for tracking)
And all cases use the Steam Version of DCS.
Interesting: A friend of mine got rid of it by switching from steamDCS to DCS standalone.

edit: oh and here is a bug report. Mabe post there as well:

"Should" because sometimes hotfixes happen. Hotifxes don't contain the standard "train" of updates.

Why are you asking? Are you still witnessing white flashes and/or black filcker?

See his post and mine three posts above. He still sees them but probably only on the sinai map.
It reportedly had flickering issues before the "global flickering" got patched into the game.
Sinai probably still has these issues but they were covered up by the global flickering. Now the issues show again.

Sinai Map flickering is reported in the corresponded forum/thread and can be mitigated or evaded by disabling cockpit mirrors.

Just flew Sinai map & there's still severe flickering. I captured the split sec during the flicker. Will post a short vid if you need it.

    Please fix ED, thank you.

Do you still get flickering on all maps?

And can you try to disable the cockpit mirrors, because that helped some with the "sinai flickering"

Edit: Oh and one of numerous posts showing the flicker on sinai, which by the way seems to affect part of the screen only .

    Hi all,

Getting an intermittent (and very annoying) flickering when the FLIR or the MavF displays in the MFCDs. Like a camera shutter, Tried all the settings for the MFDs, different resolutions, every frame etc. Tried with  VR set to 72 and 90hz. Not using upscaling. Tried with SteamVR and openXR directly. Looked at frame times and there's not noticeable lag spikes when this happens.  Happening on Sinai, and Nevada, but not tried on other maps. So don't think its map related. I'm running the latest version of DCS beta MT.

Anybody seeing this and if yes, is there a fix?

    Cheers.

  14. Hi,

    my feedback:

I experienced lags and desyncs since the end of october update in DCS MT multiplayer.
After many evenings of checking and testing on my end i stumbled over a post of a reddit user who claimed his squadrons problems were gone after they disabled voice chat on their servers.

So our server admin disabled voice on our servers on my request and my lag spikes are gone. (I had Voice disabled on my side all the time).

Maybe voice contributes to the multiplayer problems with lags many have discribed in the mp bug section.
In retrospect it all would make sense. End of Oktober ED introduced the updated voice chat and my problems began.

    Thanks.

  15. Seems like I found the cause for my lag spikes / freezes. I get them when voice is enabled on our servers.

As soon as we disabled voice, the stutters/lags/freezes were gone.
And now in retrospect it would all make sense. Problems started when the voice chat update patch dropped end of october.

Will verify tomorrow in our squadron mission.

    Edit: Verified. lags are gone.

  16. Seeing this as well. First i thought it might be short lags when flying online, because it felt like these. Then i saw this post.

It's worse on the Airfield with buddies surrounding you. And looking around. Get's better in the air and further away from other planes.

Maybe there is some connection to this thread:
