  1. It sure would be great if you could provide some details. Did you get to try any DCS stuff? Thanks.
  2. Have things changed to the point where the ability to use the latest Oculus runtime -- in Windows10 -- with any of the the newer DCS versions -- and an nVidia driver that works well -- is possible yet? That's the change I'd sure like to keep up with.:)
  3. Hi, Chivas. I tried to google "the MED" and "BOB theatre," but I got no relevant hits. Could you explain what they are, please? Thanks
  4. Is DCS playable yet with Windows 10, with the latest oculus runtime and with the latest DCS version? If not, what combination of OS, Oculus runtime, and DCS version currently works best? Also if not, has there been a date projected (or estimated) as to when DCS will be ready to use with the latest Windows and runtime versions?
  5. Windows 10? 7?
  6. Was this with a DK2? What OS were you running?
  7. Is it wonky to use for you because you have to use two hands? The way I suggested requires only one hand. Could you not get it to work for you?
  8. If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, we do have that. Here's what I think you have to do (to the best of my recollection): If you press LAlt + C, it toggles "clickable mouse cockpit control." You want it off, so that the little yellow crosshair is gone. Then, for me at least, I have to hold down my middle mouse button and just move the mouse. Forward/backward movement moves you up and down, left/right movement moves you left and right, and rolling the mouse wheel while still holding it down moves you forward and backward. (All this assumes that your mouse wheel is also your middle mouse button.) Now, I'm not sure if you have to map these movements to your mouse, because I don't remember doing that myself, so it may be the default. I hope this helps. Please let me know if it doesn't, so that I can edit this post or delete it altogether. Good luck... :)
  9. OK, thanks. I wanted to double check if that directive had changed and we could now use mods. Now I know we still can't. :)
  10. I seem to recall that we should not use mods if we're running open beta 1.5. Am I mistaken?
  11. Which patch are you referring to? Is it from Oculus, or is it from DCS? Can you provide a link?
  12. Have you tried disabling your internet connection and skipping the logon until the screen that has the free flight button comes up? At that point, you would re-enable your internet connection and then log on. Since I started doing all that, I haven't had one crash...
  13. Is the New Gamma adjustable? If so, where? Other than there being a massive visual difference, which I don't seem to be able to see, is there any other indicator that tells you whether or not the New Gamma is on?
  14. I don't remember who posted it or where it was posted, but it has been suggested that you disable your internet connection before running DCS. That's been working pretty well for me as a way to avoid the crashes. Plus, I just discovered that once you've got the program running, you can then re-enable your internet connection and log in, and then you're back in business. I hope it works well for you and others too.
  15. OC runtime=Oculus Runtime?
  16. Thanks, Crunchy. That's good to know. I had wondered if that might not be case now. I like the idea of again being able to use the latest updates any time nVidia makes them available. No more wondering what I'm missing out on :)
  17. ok. But I recall that it did make a difference for me after I installed Oculus Runtime 0.7. I see now that the currently recommended gameworks vr driver has a higher version number (356.04) than the 355.84 version I installed. So when you say you have the latest nVidia driver installed, do you mean the latest gameworks driver, or do you mean the latest driver most people get from the nVidia website? Finally, I also see now that the DCS 1.5 beta is available, so ignore all the stuff I posted about that. Thanks...
  18. Last time I looked, there was a special nVidia driver for the Rift. So it might be worth it to check into that for those who are using the latest nVidia driver. Go here... https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/pc/0.7.0.0-beta/Oculus_Runtime_for_Windows/ ...and scroll down to find a link to NVIDIA Driver Version 355.83 or later Keep following the links until you eventually get here... https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworks-vr-driver-support ...Then just choose the appropriate Operating System. So did I miss out on a window of opportunity or something? I've had open beta installed for quite a while now, but I can't seem to get beta 1.5 installed. How is it then that there are a lot of people who have been able to install it? Thanks...
  19. What card are you planning to get. I just got a gtx 970, and I don't know how DCS can get any smoother than what that card has now made possible. I love it! I just hope DCS 1.5 will be compatible with Runtime 0.7, because that's what I'm now running. I'm told by Oculus folks that there's no problem with going back and forth between Runtime 0.7 and other versions, and I would probably do that in order to run DCS occasionally if 1.5 turns out to be not ready for 0.7, but I sure hope it doesn't have to be only occasionally.:) thanks...
  20. I sure hope you're right, S3NTRY. That would be fantastic. Has wags been saying anything about which Oculus SDK version has been used to build Rift support for DCS 1.5? In other words, will it be playable by those who have Oculus Runtime 0.7 installed, which no longer supports Extended Mode? DCS Oculus support would have to have been built using SDK 0.6 or higher. (I hope you don't already know all that and that I'm not sounding all 'teachy' or anything:)). Take care, and thanks...
  21. Where did you hear about the release happening this month? It would be great if it were true, but we've had our hopes up before and been disappointed. How did you find out about this?
  22. "About to " can mean so many things, depending on context, average pilot. Could you tell us what you meant by it? thanks...
  23. Sure, but num5 won't put you on top of your aircraft. :) I hope you get a chance to try that sometime. It's fun. You can also move yourself just far enough forward that you're just outside the glass in front of you. You can then have a clearer view like you have when you're in the 'HUD only' view (L Alt + F1 toggles it). But you won't have that 'HUD only view' map to block your view. Plus you'll still be able to see a little bit of your aircraft, which will help to keep you oriented. Keep in mind though that my only experience with this has been with the Huey. (Other aircraft's mileage may vary:)) Have fun...:pilotfly:
  24. I haven't tested this in the A-10, but in the Huey, I can use my middle mouse button (the wheel) to position myself pretty much anywhere, even outside the cockpit if I want (It's really cool to fly while sitting on top of the Huey.). You first have to get rid of the yellow crosshair cursor by turning off 'clickable mouse cockpit mode' (L Alt + c on your keyboard toggles it). Then hold down your middle mouse button and move the mouse. Moving it side to side moves your position to the right and left, forward and back moves your position up and down, and turning the wheel (while still holding it down) moves you forward and back. This all assumes that your middle mouse button is also your wheel. Now for some reason, I've been under the impression that if you want DCS to open with you in the same position as when you last closed the program, you could press RAlt + num0 to "save cockpit angles." And until just now, I'd never tried it. Well, it appears I've been under the wrong impression. Saving cockpit angles doesn't do what I had thought. I have yet to learn what it actually does, so it would be great if someone else could tell us. It would also be great if someone could show us a way we can save cockpit position, assuming a way does exist.
  25. Sorry, but I don't know what a Q&A is. I mean, generally speaking, I know what it is, but it sounds like you're referring to something specific. Could you tell me a little about it, please?
