My two cents.
I think the DCS plan could be better, but it's not horrible. I would ask 3rd party developers to work on modern aircraft first before they go on to tackle aircraft from different historical periods. If all the Flaming Cliffs aircraft were study sim like the A-10C, I would be purchasing module after module.
But they're not, and are not planned to be, to the benefit of my wallet. The situation seems like a missed opportunity, because we have GREAT vintage aircraft simulations already, while modern combat aircraft study sims are too few. The DCS third party model seems to share many similarities with FSX. Build and sell whatever you want, albeit the quality of such addons have to be top-notch which is definitely a good thing.
