  1. New PC file transfer Iv just built a new PC to run Rift and want to know how to transfer my aircraft and terrain files from the Old PC to my new? NB: I have re-downloaded 1.5 and 2.0 but nothing else.
  2. As I'm still setting up my PC system, i haven't yet got my Rift working... (despite it teasing me from its box beside me!) I'm trying to get ahead of things so I can correctly configure my Rift when my system is built. I'm trying to understand the above comments... why do you need to VR zoom? Isn't that the whole thing with VR...? Just lean in? Similarly , why the need for the bindings on the hat switch? With the VR zoom bound to a button, does the mouse scroll incrementally 'VR zoom'? Iv read on other posts VRZoom is just on or off (in or out). I'm sure all my Qs will be answered when I actually get my rig operational but it's helpful to get my head around 1st. Cheers
  3. Disregard above post... just tried it. Was not expecting the 2nd mouse to be a clone of the other. I mistakenly thought the 2nd mouse would appear as another controller/axis.
  4. I curious to know how the 2nd mouse shows up in the assignments..? as an axis or other?
  5. Superb! I look forward to any news. cheers. I didnt realise there is the ability to connect more than one mouse- at least i didnt think of that!? i would have thought a rotary encoder was effectively a mouse wheel...?
  6. Nice. That's effectively what Iv built but on a smaller scale. I don't want a full cockpit setup- Iv built mine around an office chair with minimal buttons. What I'm trying to achieve is to use the rotary encoder for multiple assignments and therefore reduce the switches/knobs I use in VR I'm having trouble finding a way to achieve this.
  7. Im asking this on another thread as Im really trying to get my head around how to set this up... I have a single rotary encoder with a push button function which I use through a Bodnar BU0836x board. I would like to somehow set it up so I can use the same encoder to tune Radio freqs, turn Heading bugs, make any other 'rotary dial type' selections eg:Weapon stations, Course indicator, Altimeter, etc.. My thoughts are (because I havent got Voice Attack yet) that Voice attack will some how use a binding/shift key to change the use of the rotary encoder?? my wish is to set up voice attack so if I say "ADF" I can then use the encoder to tune it. Then If I say VHF Radio the same rotary switch will work to tune the VHF radio, . Same for the others but all using the one rotary dial Will this be possible with Voice attack? The reason is I want to minimise the physical buttons I have to find whilst in VR.
  8. You have explained that perfectly. Thanks! Because I have yet to get Voice activation going, Im ASSUMING I could use that to effectively map those 'Layers' under various calls. ie VHF...? <hopefully>!
  9. Thanks,, sorry I wasnt very clear...I know how to connect it and have a card. It is the button assignment I need help with. I am not sure how to get the thing working as I describe- if it can be done (one encoder used for several uses??)
  10. I have a rotary encoder with a push button function. I would like to somehow set it up so I can use the same encoder to tune Radio freqs, turn Heading bugs, make any other 'dial type' selections eg:L/R or UP down... I plan to set up voice attack so if I say "ADF" I can then use the encoder to tune. Same for "FM" "VHF" or Weapon selections Do you think this would be possible?

  12. Thanks..... but no thanks. Can't b arsed signing up to another place just to post a pic. Another password to forget and junk mail to get. Too bad the forum won't allow uploads. Cheers anyways guys.
  13. How do we post pics on this forum?? the pic icon above only lets me paste a URL?..
  14. Absolutely- thanks! I have yet to get the Rift or my new GTX 1060 so had no idea of the type of connections.
  15. Ok.... is that going to be from a different output from the video card? Sorry for he Noob Q!
  16. My Rift is in the mail and I'm itching to get into it when it arrives! How can I rig an external monitor to show what's going on in VR to someone else..? Is it possible to manipulate the view they are seeing independent of VR? ie. have an external aircraft view on the monitor while cockpit view in VR?
  17. Good work! Thanks for the link. That's very similar to my setup and way of thinking- I just don't have VR capability until Santa delivers my Rift! I'm right with you when you say how satisfying/challenging it is imagining then creating our Gear. I guess I'm a hands on, nuts-n-bolts guy. I hope code writers have similar feelings about their 'creations' even though Though it's not as tangible...? I'm interested to know how you make an external display of what's going on in VR for someone else to monitor? Could the views on the 2nd screen be cycled through the various positions or manipulated independent of the VR?
  18. Looking forward to seeing your rig.. Iv made a "geek seat" using bodnars bu086 and hooked up some authentic aircraft controls ( a combination MD500 collective and Grumman Intruder Hotas from wrecks/surplus). Both are attached to the Left side of an office chair. I was thinking of making a mouse platform on the chairs Right armrest but reading these forums it would appear most are trying to go mouse free with the Rift? I really don't want to build a massive sim rig with a tactile switch for everything- I want the simplicity of my All-in-one chair. I can always get another bu086 board and make another box as Iv run out of buttons/axes on the one I have. I thought a simple armerment box and radio box may be a good idea.... As my Rift has yet to arrive, I'm trying to gauge just what is essential (switch wise) and what I can work around without looking 'outside' the goggles- something I imagine detracts from the experience? I will post what Iv built when I get a chance.
  19. I WISH someone would build a MD500 !
  20. Im about to purchase- have the same feelings as Hawkeye ! Big Q for me though... How is everyone managing keboard input commands with the Rift on? I understand most cockpit switches are more easily manipulated with the VR but surely there are plenty of other key inputs required??
  21. Im building a new PC. I have bought a separate drive just for Games / DCS. Are there any issues by not having it installed in the same drive as WIN7 ?
