  1. I'm joining this old topic because it seems that I have the same issue (using latest open beta as of today). Anything new about it ? Charles
  2. Well, I think I finally solved it and it was indeed a problem on my system, and apparently not hardware related. I started relating those strange issues in DCS 2.5.6 beta to other issues that appeared on my system in recent months. After investigating (a lot) I started suspecting something on my windows install. So I decided to use Win 10 built in reset feature and chose the option to erase everything. Unfortunately all my issues were still present (including the fact that 2.5.5 was working flawlessly). So in a desperate move, I created a bootable USB flash drive to re install Windows 10 the hard way after a complete formatting. And my issues were ALL gone. I still have no idea what happened but for some reason my windows got corrupt. Anyway, thanks for trying to help me. I'll now go wait patiently in the waiting room for the supercarrier ! Charles
  3. I just freed some more space on my SSD so I was able to move release version on it. So now I have both versions installed side by side on my SSD. I was missing DCS too much! I can confirm release version working flawlessly. I'll keep openbeta in case you want me to run some tests. Have a nice day. Charles
  4. I just made a try reverting my BIOS settings to default (no overclocking, all voltage and freq to auto, etc). No difference.
  5. As we are talking CPU, could it have something to do with AVX instructions ? Anything changed regarding this in 2.5.6 ?
  6. CPU is a Core i7 9700K overclocked to 5Ghz with Corsair H115i Pro watercooling. FYI, I tried reverting my CPU clock to see if the issue disappeared when you first mentioned possible hardware issues, but did not see any difference. Here is a link with screenshots from my phone. As a bonus, a screenshot while someone was waiting with me for the update to complete yesterday...:music_whistling: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pn1blf2hzx75can/AABV5XJTeCYKlG_PhDSxvvMga?dl=0
  7. Here are two logs : *First one, I started release version, clicked on instant action, persian gulf, a10c, free flight. Game launched ok. I quit. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbdhbqbfa04gsnp/dcs.log?dl=0 *Second one, I started open beta. For some reason I had sound in the menu (do not know why). I then did exactly the same thing. It crashed very shortly after clicking free flight. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yebm2ywtjo8dg05/dcs.log?dl=0 If you need some other logs,, now that you know where I am with my install, I'll do it without a problem. Just tell me exactly what you would like me to do. Charles
  8. Some more info: *It seems that in Openbeta I am basically unable to load anything on a Non default theater. *My release version is a bit difficult to play because I have now micro freezes. I guess this is due to the fact that it is now on a HDD which is a bit slow, because yesterday, while release was on my SSD I had no issue. I'll keep it like this for a few days to see if you can help me, but does not seem playable. If not, I'll revert to release version on my SSD.
  9. Okay small update as to where I am now. As mentioned before, I started from scratch today, after deleting everything by re installing DCS Openbeta on my SSD (which is my main disk with the OS and P3DV4). Up until now, DCS had ALWAYS been installed on this disk. I started by installing the release version several months ago. I then moved to the openbeta by using the command line. I had no major issue until 2.5.6 series. Each time I moved back to release version, my issues (both audio, and various crases when loading missions) stopped. This afternoon, I re installed DCS release version on my secondary disk which is not an SSD. It just finished installing. I can confirm TWO THINGS: *On Open Beta, I have the "NO SOUND" issue; I DO NOT have this issue on release *On open Beta if I select instant action on the P51, and any mission on the Normandy theater it crashes when loading. On release version, It IS WORKING OK So I am completely at a loss here and something strange is going on. Perhaps during the install process ?
  10. But I can load the P51 in Caucasus. Still downloading release version on my hard drive. My internet connection is getting tired ;)
  11. Actually, no I did notice that. I own most t WWII modules, Normandy map, and WWII asset pack. In release version I can load P51 instant action from Normandy map. In openbeta it does not work. But I did not want to clutter the topic here as I thought it was irrelevant.
  12. And just to confirm I ran memtest for a few hours on my RAM and it reported no issue. Any idea how to test my SSD and hard drive ?
  13. Clearly I am not saying that my hardware has no issue, after all this is a computer. But it has no issue that I am aware of. But even if my hardware has an issue, it does not explain why the release version is working flawlessly and I have this issue in openbeta, no ?
  14. Okay, after starting DCS again and again, eventually I got to the point where I had music in the menu. Here is a link to my log file immidiately after this run: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/o3q8zl424syns1p/AABgaDFbYqVUJsXIor3LsNKva?dl=0 Do't know if that can help.
  15. And I am afraid installing DCS release aside will be a bit much on my SSD. I'll think I'll try and install release version but on my hard disk instead.
  16. I can also confirm after downloading everything I own (which is...quite a bit :) in the main DCS World Openbeta folder, there is a folder called "Sounds.edc" but no folder called "Sounds"
  17. Okay, I just finished downloading all my content. I started again, with the autoexec fix in place. NO SOUND. I made sure all volume sliders in the audio menu were up.
  18. And just another clarification regarding the autoexec fix: I had NO autoexec.cfg file in my config folder so I created one with a text editor with just the line you gave me. I then saved it and edited the file extension as .cfg (I can confirm it is recognised by windows as a config file). I think I did OK, I just wanted to be sure that is exactly what I was supposed to do.
  19. Actually, I deleted the DCS folder from the Saved games folder so my settings have been reset to default (which was confirmed by the fact that the main window opened in windowed mode an small size (I guess 1080p as I am on a 4K screen). All my tests consist of just starting DCS World, get to the main menu and listen if there is music or not. I am almost certain I did check that music potentiometer was at 100%. I am still downloading content right now so I have to wait completion to make another test.
  20. But just to clarify, after intalling the "core" dcs world without any modules, I am supposed to have sound immediately in the interface. If I understand correctly, the base install includes Caucasus and a couple of free modules (TF51...) so it should be "self sufficient" ?
  21. Sorry for my delayed answer, I was having lunch. I tried to convince my wife that debugging DCS was more important but she did not really agree...:music_whistling: 1)Currently my default audio device is not SPDIF, it is a USB Plantronic in which I have speakers plugged in instead of the headset. 2)Within my main DCS World folder there is a Sounds.edc folder but no Sounds folder. Presently I am downloading the "content" of my modules. If there is something wrong with my install, I do not know what I am doing wrong as I am installing again from scratch. If anything comes to your mind I could be doing wrong let me know.
  22. I just finished intalling openbeta. Everything is default, I did not touch any setting (I did not even downloaded my owned modules yet). I started the app. No sound. I appied the autoexec fix, still no sound. Here is a link to my latest log just after the second run: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l450b23yefs3947/dcs.log?dl=0 Sorry, this is a link to my dropbox because for some reason the forum rejects my upload as in invalid file. I will now proceed to download my modules and if I can the stable release alongside.
  23. FYI, right now, I am trying something else just to make sure. Up until now, I started from the release version. I made the switch to openbeta using the cmd line dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta. And @release for the other way round. I just fully uninstalled what I had and deleted my DCS savegame folder, rebooted the PC. I am in the process of re installing directly the openbeta from scratch. I deleting Xplane 11 from my PC to save some space. If I can I will install stable alongside so that I have bioth versions installed. Anyway, when I am up and running again with open beta, I will again try this : sound.channel_mask = 3 And I will report back with logs. It might take me some hours because of the time needed to re download everything. Charles
  24. Unfortunately it is not working. As usual, I made some switching within the game to switch audio from default to other things, and forcing it to my main audio output (each time after I make a change, I quit DCS and start again). Exactly as before, a couple of times, I had audio. But if I quit DCS and restart it without making ANY change, it's gone. It's like once out of 50 it decides it is OK to initialize. The other times, no sound output at all. A complete mystery.
  25. Just to be clear this is the workaround you are talking about ? sound.channel_mask = 3
