  1. My apologies, I did not try it as I thought it was also an answer to wildwally. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I redownload openbeta, will try and report. Thanks a lot for trying to help.
  2. So is there anything I can do about it ? Beacause I am OK with running stable for the moment (this is the idea of Open Beta, after all, it is normal to encounter issues). What scares me is that in the future I will lose all audio ?
  3. FYI on my part, I once again reverted to stable, and I can confirm I have no audio issue at wall, it's working perfectly.
  4. Thanks for your post, although it did not work for me. But it worked once. This is very strange: When I made the modification, I started DCS world: no sound WIthin DCS I ticked back voice chat, and restarted: sound was back ! I quit, restarted, still sound ! I rebooted my PC: no sound... Each time, if I go back to stable version no issue. BUT it reminded me that I noticed something strange: Each time I switch to open beta, it seems to work when DCS starts THE FRIST TIME. And then if I quit and reboot my PC, that is over. That is driving me nuts ! But once again, thanks for trying to help. Charles
  5. Just reverted once again to stable this afternoos. I can confirm no issue at all with sounds on stable release.
  6. For info, I ran a very long memtest to check my RAM, no issue at all. And another point: I have no music in the main menu. I don't think DCS main menu is so demanding... There really is something wrong with this beta version, but I can't figure out what I could do more to investigate.
  7. I know that DCS can be taxing on hardware. But I also run p3d with MANY addons including demanding ones and it is very stable. Plus the fact that I have no major issue with release version. But if you think of a test I can perform outside DCS let me know.
  8. Do you have a specific test in mind ? I have no issues with most Games and I do not have those audio issues in stable version.
  9. Here goes. Sorry I am not familiar with this logggin system. I had to zip it as the DCS.log file was rejected whern trying to upload. Hope I got it right this time. dcs.zip
  10. Here is a log from yesterday. I had no software crash today so apparently it did not generate a log. My audio issue does not imply software crashes. Am I correct that a log is only generated when the software crashes ? If you need something else, just tell me. dcs.log-20200324-165741.zip
  11. Sorry for the constant spamming but I was too fast. It just worked once... After posting my previous message, I started DCS again, but no more sound... Nevertheless, that might be a lead for devs to investigate.
  12. I just found a workaround, it was driving me nuts ! I'll post it here in case someone has the same problem and for the devs to correct the issue in time. First, my setup is a bit "peculiar". I have desktop computer with two screens: *A 32in 4k screen for regular gaming/internet/work *A bigger 4k TV for simming only I use EITHER of these screens but never both. The one I don't use is turned off. Now, in order for the sound to be "centered" around me, I have 2 separate sets of speakers. Each one is connected directly to the audio output of the screen, so that when I switch screens, windows switches the default audio out automatically. Sound is generated using Nvidia High definition audio driver. It works without an issue ( and is working in DCS stable version). Now, what I did what plug the speakers normally connected to the TV directly to headset jack of my MOBO. Surprise, it worked ! Not sure why but I guess that is a lead. Charles
  13. This is getting stranger and stranger. Today, in the F16, I had NO SOUND AT ALL. For info, this is the only game where I have encountered such an issue. if you have any idea, I am interested. Charles PS: to the whole ED team, take care of yourselves and family. My numerous posts about this annoying issue do not mean I am angry. I just want to give some followup as I encounter stranger and stranger behaviours.
  14. Another quick update: with the F16, it is the opposite ! From the cockpit, I hear the engine, but not the gun. From the external view, no engine sound. REALLY WEIRD. And while I have this issue, unfortunately this open beta is totally unusable for me.
  15. A small followup. As I mentioned above, I had reverted to stable 2.5.5 and my sound issue disappeared. Today, I went back to open beta to try the latest update. My issue is back. I attempted many software launches and I have never been able to get sounds to work any single time. I just tried a cleanup followed by a repair, to no avail. A bit more precision: *When I arrive in hte menu, there is no sound AT ALL *When I start a flight, SOME sound are played. For example, I just tried the F-5. I hear aerodynamics rumble sounds, the guns. BUt no engine sound or radios. Just an example. Best regards. Charles
  16. I do have the latest Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable. I tried re installing with the link you provided but it refuses because I have a more recent version. Nevertheless, it takes quite a while to go from stable to beta and vice versa and for the time being I think I'll stay on stable until this 2.5.6 i s a bit more ironed out. Best regards and thanks for your help. Charles
  17. Here are a couple of logs. FYI, with this open beta I had 3 major issues that had me revert to stable: *This sound issue (2 times out of three, no sound when starting the game) *Framerate issue (my config is rather powerful : 9700k, 32GB, RTX 2080ti SSD) *Lots of crashes, either from the ui or when loading Best regards. Charles dcs.log-20200307-125850.zip dcs.log-20200307-152506.zip
  18. Sorry I reverted to stable during the afternoon. I'll check if I still have the logs. Charles
  19. Same here, pretty annoying...
  20. +1 here ! Charles
  21. Hi Tim, Well, actually, the suggestion made by Atalia saved the day for me. I haven't been able to make extensive testing, but it seems to be working. I am using a Gigabyte 780Ti Factory overclocked (CPU i7 2600K @ 4.6Ghz, 8Gb RAM, SSD for OS Win 7 Home premium 64bits, Standard Hard Drive for DCS). What i did was install MSI Afterburner, then downclock GPU Core Clock AND Memory frequency to the minimum allowed by this program. I made a few test flights and for the moment, no more crash. Even downclocked as much as possible, performance was still ok and sim perfectly flyable. I did not change anything else, so this seems to be related to this graphics card somehow (i tested LOTS of things before that, but never with success). And it's the onyly game in which I have this problem, including other hardcore sims (FSX, XPlane 10...) Hope that will help you. Charles
  22. Well, thanks, I'm not going nuts, then ! That's reassuring, i was starting to think that my PSU was not enough for my config although I double checked before buying a new graphics card. It is a pretty good PSU, a Corsair one, supposed to be reliable. And i did some stress test both for my cpu, and gpu without a single issue. Plus FSX,P3d and Xplane are running without any problem ! So to be honest that would be suprising. I'll keep doing some tests, but the first results are encouraging. There seem to be some issue beween their engine and these cards. Perhaps a problem in the way DX9 is handled ? Thanks again for your valuable inputs !
  23. Well, I did downclock it to the maximum allowable by msi afterburner (-105MHz Core Clock and Memory at 6000MHz, after two hours of testing this afternoon, not a single crash!) A bit too soon to rejoyce, but thank you very much for your help guys. I had totally missed that point after lots of test. ED Tech support thinks my PSU is not powerful enough (750W with a core i72600K at 4.6GHz). I am doubt ful but that is possible. Anyway, it seems related to the graphics card somehow. I'll perform more thorough tests when I have the time. Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking the time to help me. Charles
  24. Hi Atalia, and thanks for you answer. Actually, I did downclock the GPU, but I did not do it in a very thorough way, and now that you talk about it, I only turned down core clock, and not memory clock. So it might be worth a try. I have a Gigabyte GTX780Ti factory overclocked. Do you think I should downclock it to a factory Gtx780Ti non OC, or even lower to a regular GTX780 ? And is MSI Afterburner ok for it or is is there a better tool that you would recommend ? Anyway, thanks for having taken the time to answer me. Charles
  25. Hi everyone, If anyone is still monitoring this topic (especially Denco), I also have this issue. I have a Gigabyte GTX780Ti as you and have those freeze. After a random amount of time, I go from 60fps to either 20 fps (with grapics card core freq locked at around350MHz) or, more frequently, to 1 or 2 fps. I have to completely reboot my system to regain control, as I also have one or two fps in windows. This has been driving me nuts for months, so if anyone has a solution or explanation, I would be really grateful ! I have placed a support ticket with DCS, but for the moment, no solution. Please note that my graphics card does not seem to be overheating, and that I don't have crashes with FSX, P3D or Xplane10. I already tried reverting my cpu to factory clocks, but it did not help either. Best regards everyone. Charles
