Tigrom, VikVaughan and myself are going to set up a server later this week (at least I think we are) where all we do is learn to fly the helicopter. I'd recommend doing the training lessons for start up and hover (for start up - actually pause the session after each group and write yourself some quick notes on which switch, where they are and the order to do them. Some parts of course aren't needed like the infra-red sensor equipment, but write it all down anyways, to get into the habit for when you get into the meat of the missions). Look out for our server (times will be posted - I'll be calling mine CRD2.0 Flight Practice Range - or something like that). In it just practice starting up, hover, move around, land, etc. It was great when Tigrom and I did it earlier, we tried precision landing on docks, platforms, top of buildings, as well as seeing how manoeverable the helicopter can be twisting through buildings and bunkers, not to mention trying to do a panic stop and hover from full speed runs over the runway. Doing stuff like this definitely forces you to practice your helicopter startup skills cause the results never turn out the way you expect the first several times :smilewink:. And you don't have to worry about getting shot at! CRD

Well, if its of any interest, I'd like to try and revisit the "n00b Flyte Traneing Senter" later this week. I'd also like to know if one of our helis are on the aircraft carrier, whether the AI SU-33 will still try to land, or will they get waved off .... Lets see just how advanced the fine folks at ED have made this game, yeah?

Oh, yeah sure Tigrom, post the pic of you standing over my dead body after taking me out in a mid-air collision! Where's the pic when you crashed into and blew up all the firetrucks parked next to the tower? :megalol: Lots of Fun, gotta do that again, get some more trainees to join in. Best way to learn to fly without getting shot at :joystick::pilotfly:

For anyone following this thread - just going through some technical issues with Teamspeak. And maybe BS MP - if anyone has info on running both behind routers, feel free to advise.
-
Sorry - just went to have a bite to eat. Went to have a look, didn't see your server. CRD edit - see your PM for question concerning your IP address.
-
How does that effect TS - will I have to log out to connect to that, then log back in?
-
Is it up and running now? CRD sorry, never mind, went and had a look. I'll wait till 3:00 pm Pacific Time:pilotfly:

Ok VV (I see you sign your post like that - OK if I refer to you with those initials? "VikVaughan" can be long to type), now my question is how do I connect/identify your server?
-
I'm in - 3:00 pacific time. I have teamspeak, though I haven't used it in a year or so, I'll see if there's a more current version. If one of you guys are willing to host, post here details for teamspeak settings, game (sorry, SIMULATOR - cough!) IP host details. I don't have facebook, yahoo or any of those other things, sorry. This forum would be my only source of info. edit: sorry - I guess I do have messenger, but haven't used it (not much of a socializer, lol)

I live on the Westcoast too. However it took me 5 run-throughs on the cold start procedure before I figured out how to get the engines even started. Tried to take notes on the last couple sessions (narrator talks too fast, lol). Finally got some semblance of operation, then did the taxi training (didn't know the brakes were on, among a whole bunch of other little details when I tried to taxi before doing the "lessons") and hover training. Had to reset my joystick so the collective would work, too, ha ha. At any rate, I'd be interested in trying MP. Maybe we could play follow the leader?

My contribution on this issue - the skins that were used in IL-2:FB/AEP/PB were so easy to work and install into the skin folders of each plane model. Why can ED not follow that method with their current skin/modelling. Why did they go to such a complicated way of doing things?

No, sorry, what I meant was I wanted to burn the software files I downloaded to DVD. My XP would only burn data files to CD-ROM, even though my burner is a CD/DVD reader/writer combo. I found a free-ware program that did what I needed it to do. As a side comment - the fact that I have limited re-installs of the downloaded version is disappointing - I hope I don't run into enough situations that I use up all my "install lives", lol. I'd hate to have to spend another $50us to re-buy the game.
-
Ok, I've bitten the bullet and downloaded the game. The first thing I've tried to do now that I've gotten it on my desktop is to try and burn it to DVD. Pop-up says there's an error and won't let me. Any suggestions?

I would really really like to have the UH-60 Blackhawk and/or CH-53 Super Stallion for their specific capabilities, plus a Russian equivalent. (As in "would really really like to have!!!!!"). Seeing as there are lots of recent flight sims that feed the need for high end speed, I'd like there to be more focus on the helicopter end of things at this point in time. We already have the A-10 in FC, lets put some effort into rotary wing. I'd also like to see the Hughes 500 Defender or equivalent provided (but first to have a transport as noted above).

Thanks for the reply. Decisions, Decisions...

Some concerns: 1) Credit card info posted to purchase online - has anyone had issues with security, etc? I know its the modern age, but one hears so many horror stories of stolen ID, Credit card fraud, etc. 2) Is it possible/ok to burn the program to disk, and therefore have the "hard copy" in the event of program crash, sys OS crash (knock on wood) or hardware upgrade that neccessitates software re-install? 3) Is there limitations on the number of re-installs? I've got the LOMAC/FC disks, and haven't been restricted in the number of times I've had to re-install for various reasons. Is the Online version as lenient? 4) In the event of downloading and there's a power failure/download interruption, how does that effect the next attempt to download? Carries on or does start again? At worst I'll wait for a North American distributor in Feb/Mar, or at best I'll be enjoying sooner, depending on responses :joystick:. Cheers, and Happy New Year. Rick

Along with the much needed transport helicopter sim (UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-53 Superstallion), it would be cool to have the MD-500 Defender light attack helicopter.

- I'd like to see the UH-60 Black Hawk - Remember Longbow II where you had CSAR, supply, etc missions? Would really enjoy that again. Plus collision damage with trees, and proper scale with the trees also. There would be automatic AI to operate the mini-guns and warn you of inbounds/enemy positions/other issues of interest... - A true dynamic campaign. Even if you fail the mission and restart, there'd be enough changes that you can't say to yourself "ok, there's a SA-9 missile launcher right over this next hill..." - ground crew for your aircraft, plus the ability to start your mission in the briefing room, walk (or run) to your AC (in 3rd person), climb in, then the view reverts to 1st person with you seeing your avatar's hands and legs moving as required to flip switches, operate the controls etc.
