Heart Broken cause of my warthog stick
Schredder replied to bumfire's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey guys, It make me sorry to hear of those problems... I suddenly feel lucky that I had to take a brake for a while. Anyway, my suggestion to you (that worked for me) is to dedicate a "pretty comfortable chair" for the task. using its hand rests to mount your flying gear (assuming you are not using a full scale cockpit - it should do) make any minor adjustments as nessecery. when you want to fly simply get that chair in place, attach the connections and do our thing... I wish you to get well and back to normal in no time. Cheers, Nir -
Hi ! Im also doing some research finding the way to display the data on gauges. Maxim Lysak (Mnemonic)and I had a project some time ago where we displayed info over LCD module. thus to be simple and cost effective whilst getting the job done. Yet, I guess that building a pit without an actual looking gages spoils all the fun  I think that servo's and gears are a good choice but are not the most cost effective way to get the desired results. It can be simpler than that. Some time ago Iv'e managed to get an off the shelf gauge work with PWM. PWM is the cheapest and simple to apply (using a micro controller). Try to investigate about attiny2313 (has its RS232 tranciever buit in and about the right number of pins you need to drive the gages. 1 pin per gage. I wish I had more free time to take part with this work. Iv'e got some more projects on my shelf that were neglected for a while but ill get'em back soon... :smilewink: Have success and keep updating us on this nice idea and its application. I'll post some pictures of the basic circuit if you would like. I just need to find it...:smilewink:

Hi there... I finally got to a tomporary residence... until my house will be built... But the reason for this update is this tiny board. It can be used as an independent module and as such can be fitted on many types of interfaces, such as , Mjoy , LEO's boards and many others... You might even want to convert you current joystick that can be of any brand. (you need ofcourse to take care of the mechanical side...) Here's a sample of the second version of the prototype.(the coins diameter is 18 mm) When I'll get some time to arrange the layout and some documentation - ill post it... I still wish to add some features as described on the comment above, yet, this setup is working you may use it freely... Any comments and or suggestions are welcomed... Nir

Hi ! This thing looks great ! Finally someone who thinks like me... Yet, here two things that "jumped" to my eyes... I would consider removing the upper edges of the seat (as Im convinced they will not "get along" with my legs. and I'm pretty fit...) marked on edited picture with no.1 I don't really understand what is the angle marked with question mark no.2 It look's like it's too small. and more than It will not be the most comfy to sit at, it may cause some back problems... I would go on,say +95 degrees ... (if you can place two plates over some sort of a jig you could find the best angle that will suit you and apply it on the design...) Sure it's only my opinion. Better safe than sorry...

I'm happy to say that this configuration is totally usable. It could use some fine tuning, but I dont really have the time now... I finally started to build my new house. a bigger one that will allow me to have my own cockpit ...( and I even got my wife's "permission" signed by a lawyer...) I'll keep updating every once in a while. If anyone have specific questions - I probably have the answers so - shoot ! I intend to further develop this "project" so it would also have trimmers and sensitivity control. If any comments and/or requests please feel free to share, as I believe that a good solution comes from the pepole who need and use it... Cheers Nir

Hello to everyone, It's been about more than a year since I have wanted to make my own version of force controlled joystick. With some incouragement of some friends - It has been back to the sketch board... Here's are the resuts: 2 Prototypes: Single axis and Dual axis configuration. attached are files describing HowTo's and some pictures. If ther's an interest- I'll further explain how its possible to make almost any joystick to become A force controlled one... The coin in one of the pics is a NIS (NEW ISRAELI SHEKEL), It's diameter is 18 mm. BTW The stick grip in the pic is A VERY OLD stick that I had. I definatly intend to replace it with a modern one... LC2MC.pdf

OK. After installing the orginal CATALIST that came with the card I have noticed it had also installed HYDRAVISION drivers. Now it works ! Thanks for the tips.

After Installation over LOMAC 1.01 and/or FC 1.1 the main menu i get to look like in the attached pic. Should it be like that ?! If not what could resolve the problem. I hav'nt activated yet as i can see the "problem" from the main menu (dosnt require activation yet) Its a new installation of Windows XP SP3 with latest drivers. using 2 GB of Ram. Amd's athlon 64 6000+ and ATI's 1950XT 256 MB GDDR3 Any ideas ppl ?!

Hi there... It's seems Maxim and I would go a bit further after some time "laying on the cradle..." development starts again... Here's a reminder what I'm talking about: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=22854 LCD display showing Flight data using LUA export with combination of LCDSmartie. Back then (Seems like ages ago) Interface was with parallel port. Now running with USB connectivity . Relative availability of time and the urge to do something useful that lays over DCS apart from LOCK ON we decided of DEVELOPING DCS_LCD. Here's how it's looks like in action with Lock On FC: Now that I got the LONG ANTICIPATED home CNC that I made, maybe it would become possible to make some for those who cannot make their own... A picture of the CNC milling the PCB is attached just for a reference.... Light up you'r imagination and come up with ideas for DCS_LCD.

Sorry for the double thread. Accidently wrote this post in the DCS part. so here it goes... Hi there. It's been a while since my last post regarding the LO_LCD display. Look at the thread here... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=22854 Well, got some news folks... Over the web I've been caught by this: http://www.harbaum.org/till/lcd2usb/index.shtml Which means I can get this beauty working with USB. and so it does... Sorry for the big pictures... if anyone would edit it to resize them Ill thank from advance... Untill the next development... Best Regards. p.s Maxim, please be in touch regarding exportation of another info and plug-in development...

Announcement:LO_LCD V1.0 is out !!!
Schredder replied to Schredder's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Sure Tottaly agree on that one ! What if ... lets say... There was a way of displaying some data over numeric display. such as CHAFF ,FLARES ENGINES rpm AND stuff ?! One thing is for sure. of my point of view we need to make these things of common components so everyone could get, for reasonable price so everyone could afford and they should be easy to built so anyone could make them. The main concept is not a REAL LOOKING COCKPIT but more like an accessories which would help us get the most whith little as possible. LO_LCD was developed under the main idea of bulding the hardware and once you have it ready - you may fiddle a bit with the software to bring it to suit your needs. for EXAMPLE; I dont think I need to know my fuel level at a dog fight more then I need my speed or AOA. so what if we could make lets say, A MODE SWITCH which in his turn will show us whatever we like over a specific cut of time or it could change automatically by time and such... What do you say ?! -

Some answers... ggg87, These pic's were taken on early stages of plug - in development. Miss - type has been fixed since then. mountainguy, The plug - in is specifically made for this 4X20 LCD screen. if you managed to get a PALM or anything on you mind that would mimic this screen - YOU'RE ON ! You may also try to experience a bit with LCD smartie and its configuration. Try the screen Emulator before you hook up any equiptment. If it work on the emulator - most odds it would work on the real stuff... Thank for everyone for their supporting feedback ! Cheers ! -
Hello everyone ! Maxim Lysak (Mnemonic) who have made the magnificent LOVP (!!!) and myself were working recently on "some project..." curious ?!:music_whistling: It started this way: Iv'e been looking for a way to have the flight data displayed on another monitor. using this forum - I got myself familiar with Maxim's LOVP. Iv'e been using it for a while and thought of something different... (patience... you'll see it soon...) I wanted a simple, cost effective way to get this data displayed. After a while I contacted Maxim and we have discussed about having the information displayed over a LED matrixes, how to make and build customized, low cost and practical gauges ...and then I got the idea that we could simply use a simple LCD display to have the information in the best way. It wouldn't look like a real cockpit panel ,but hey !!! I will help me get more bogies... (it defenetly does....:pilotfly: ) Maxim liked the idea and we have started investigating over the right materials (both soft&hard wear's to work with). I managed to design and build the circuit in about a week and just days after, Maxim has the first Beta version of "driver" for it and after some "difficulties" - it finally workd !!! HERE ! A few days later, after some testing and re-furnishing minor bugs, we wrote some documentation for it... It will instruct you all the way to have this device ready and working... Kind'a like a DIY guide... hey ! it is a DIY guide.... You will find all you need for it in the following compressed file. (except for a freeware program names LCD smartie, which you'll need to download by yourself...) Good news No 1. You can test it even before you buil the hardware part - since the is a simulator of the screen displayed as it would in the real one...) Good news No 2. You may use it over wide area of purposes... such as Winamp display, networks info and much, much more.... Investigate about it... Good new's No 3. You should build this device one time and by updating the "driver" or "plug - in " you may customize it. it would be an updating device... http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/157955/lo-lcd-v10-zip.html I dont know much about web hosting services, so I'm sorry if it too slow or such. ill upload it to more then one source... Stay tuned for further development and give ideas for creating them... You're still here ?! :pilotfly: away to get these parts and start working so you could :joystick: like  ... Greetings ! Nir and Maxim

What the difference What the diffrence between red and silver trigger sticks ?! I got the red trigger stick and it look just as the one in the picture you posted on Ebay... -
Some progress Hi Maxim . First, Iv'e been thinking about it and I'm stuck in picking up the global idea of chossing on of the options: 1. Simple, cheap and easy to make output to digital leds with no versatility. 2. Relatively complexed ,not that cheap, versatile (could be customized later using software) output to a monochromatic LCD with backlight. I have a couple of ideas in mind but I must have this choice with you and the community. so help me out here. its for all of us.... (projects will be made of cummon parts and you could make them with very basic skills) Second, Thanks for cheering me up on the projects. I'm busy at TONS OF WORK lately and that whats fuels me further... Anyway,I have a page at LYCOS which have some pic's at.(watch out from annoying pop-ups) Notice above the thumbnails is 3 pages of pics. it's so amall pepole misses it... here it is: http://barnir0.tripod.com/custom_made_stick/ Till next time.... Hi everyone ! I'm Nir from Israel. "28 YEARS OLD AVIATION FANATIC KID" (My wife calls me that) Anyway, finnaly got into the forum after using LOMAC FC for a decent while... I had the chance to see Mnemonic's ---GREAT!!!--- LOVP and currently using it as a standard... Great Job on this one buddy !!!! Its nice, elegant and most of all very - practical-. PRACTICAL ! thats what i'm talking about. I have the microsoft SWII stick for about 4 years by now and I'm had it with this little tiny throttle !!!! So.... I made one ! WOOOO HOOOO ! I hardly had electronical skills at the time and while building it I got myself Involved with lots of Circuits schems and stuff and it really turned out to be usefull (no only) with the projects I made for my hobby... Here's the last of 4 developed projects made of some electronics and materials you can get in your local hardware store... It's a throttle with 24 buttons and total of six axes.(may be used as you like...) Her's the gut's of it ... (gut's !? did I spelled it right??? my English need furnishing I know .... please forgive me for that one...) And this is how I fly today...(my table usually cleaner than that. Its all because of just finishin it I SWARE !!!:D Add to the following TRackIR4PRO and another screen with LOVP and you get the picture.... I'll get more recent pictures, find the old one's of the former projects and upload them in here for you to see how much you can do with almost nothing... Just use the right hand's (pilot's hand are best there are...) and have the right community to share info with (if youre reading ,your'e probably in the right place...:smartass: ) and let you'r imagination and creativity work.... Hopefully,we could all share out knoledge and creativity to enhance out CRAZY hobby experience. BTW This throttle may not be good looking and high fidelity brand . Yet,it delivers high accuracy, its very PRACTICAL and it's damn deadly at the right hands...(I'm still learning how to get bogies 6...) Based on the circuit you can make a stick, a throttle and anything you might want. I'll expand about it later. C'ya pepole around... Nir Bar "Schredder"
