The upgrade advisor tells me all my system is good to go and should be no conflicts. I know for hardware there are typically separate drivers for Windows 10 versus 8.1.
I wonder should I uninstall say my video and sound card drivers, prior to going through the upgrade process, or will the installer take care of that for me?
Really would rather not go through the pain of a clean install at this point, prefer to wait till upgrading to a new motherboard for doing that.
It should be perfectly fine, also make sure if you have any custom sound sets for Windows installed you set them back to default to avoid permission issues, it seems strange though this was a massive problem for users that had them. Have fun! :thumbup:

Among all versions of DCS I've always found the process in which one places static AI tedious. I think it would be a great idea to provide preset static AI configuration options for airports. It just seems so empty if you aren't flying a mission with regular AI.. Now I know this has always been possible to set yourself, but in my honest opinion its just too tedious. Too much clicking and placing, setting headings and whatnot.. Especially with the amount of parking spots at Nellis! For everyone that doesn't know how, or doesn't have the time, this could be beneficial. I know it my case it would be!
If it has been mentioned before disregard this post..
What does everyone think?

DCS picked up the correct folders straight away after correction.

Ok, getting a teeny bit frustrated now?
Took your advice and copied all the unpacked Nevada.zip into the Mods\Terrain\Nevada folder in Open Alpha 2 folder.
Opened DCS 2.0 Open Alpha. Said No terrain or aircraft installed but module manager showed all my purchased aircraft and purchased Nevada terrain were available for Install.
Updater/Installer started and all aircraft files downloaded very quick and installed.
When it got to Nevada terrain yet again it began downloading the torrent files from ED servers, all 27 GB of it???
Did i waste 18 hours downloading Nevada.zip? See screenshots of my folders and DCS 2.0 interface messages.
Also, it is not even showing in the interface that i purchased Nevada terrain & 2.0 bizarrely!! I bloody did!
Any help much appreciated, i'm not getting any younger?

Dont know if you saw the PM, change the 'Terrain' folder name to 'terrains'.

I hadn't tried that but i now have done. It's now activated with my license key but still not showing up as an option to either buy or install.

The question comes into play if DCS Updater will "like" the files placed in the folder and recognize them. If it works you would only need the remaining 1-2% to complete the download and install.We simply don`t know yet which method will work, because we don`t know how the DCS updater will react on these files. Just wait for the guys to report in here.

Sorry if its been answered previously, don't have too much time at the moment. Why exactly is everyone unsure if either will work? What in your opinion is most likely to? At the moment I'm on the FF one.

I have been downloading dcs 2 since 8:30 AM Pacific time. I am unable to complete the download yet because "torrent" is not available apparently and HTTP throttled to an average of 17 to 25 k/s i stillnhave 150 mb left to download after 11 hours. Many others also having problems. Not one moderator overseeing this roll out. COFF appears to have decided he can do nothing to help and has not been heard from since about 10:30 AM pacific time.
Alot of us are having the same issues, they've definitely got their hands full for this one. Whether they choose to seek out another distribution method is still unknown. I too have been downloading now for over 13 hours, currently 10kb/s - 15kb/s and thats just the initial 2.0 release, no modules or NTTR.

How is this a catastrophe? Please explain. Because you have to wait a few hours for a download to complete? That does not a catastrophe make.

I'm sorry but the 9 kb/s I am getting right now wouldnt even be acceptable for an alpha if I was downloading it 20 years ago!!

I love how anyone having problems is nothing other than wrong, this is a mess and people are still defending them.. They aren't a family member, they are a business selling a product. I could sit here and list a whole bunch of open/closed alphas among different devs and every one did a better job..

Sounds good! I'm gonna load up the P-51 with a full tank and get myself acquainted with the area, running it dry. Then I'll slowly transition to the fast movers, I've got every module so Its gonna be a long session when that day comes :P

It's just a super slow download, jordanduc. Guess we're all going through the same if we're interested in the DCS 2.0 ALPHA version. Our choice to download that....
Do you have any other problems besides the slow download speeds?
I know, I know.. Just frustrated at this point.

Mine has hung on disconnecting from the swarm, the updater won't close so I can't proceed with downloading the terrain.
Any ideas, restart maybe??
From what I can see us Aussies aren't valued very high up on the priority list for d/l... Im not being sarcastic either. They need to develop a system that caps all downloads at a reasonable rate when the server loads up to these levels, its not fair for one person to be getting 10mb/s and for others 100kb/s, its not even fluctuating for me. Everyone should be capped at 2mb/s and that way we all get it, just in a less timely fashion.

I still haven't even downloaded 2.0, went to bed expecting atleast the 2.0 update would be done. Every man and his dog has a quicker speed than me or has Nevada already. Ive checked this and its only ED downloads so dont dare say its a problem of my own, its not..
I've messaged people on the forum and no responses in over 6 hours. I am so extremely disappointed with you guys I paid money... I stayed up all night waiting for this and I'm getting no where.

This has been discussed before, check to make sure the airport has a ground power enabled unit. Such as a HEMTT, then you should have ground power. Hope this helps.
