No it's not a game bug. I have DX9 on Windows and DX10 video card and still get screwed shadows. I tried to force Vertex Shader to older versions, but still the game draws shadows wrong. It's about DX10 card's internal shader's pipline structure which isn't compatible with LOMAC's full shadows. Cheers, Cola

No help there. All DX10 cards have this problem. Cheers, Cola

Problem with ground textures when overcast
CHola replied to dragos_cscc's topic in Bugs and Problems
Now I vaguely remember something about the fog...hm...try light/heavy fog and overcast. IIRC, game automatically kicks in far-LOD, when the visibility is reduced by either fog or low level overcast, no matter whether it's day or night...BUT I'm not sure. Try pushing the visibility range to full 80km, as well. Anyway, can't harm to try. Cheers, Cola -

...try this config and let me know what happens... Cheers, Cola Config.zip -
Problem with ground textures when overcast

Not sure. But either way, you get far-LOD ground clipping. Try launching the game through MODMAN/LOMAN with increased clipping distances in advanced graphics options menu. Try installing some high-FPS overcast mod. Let me know if that works and if not what happens... Cheers, Cola -
Problem with ground textures when overcast

Hm, looks good... HOWEVER, if you have modman/loman, keep in mind that every time you start LockOn via LOMAN/MODMAN launcher, the game uses a graphics.cfg that is stored in profiles/graphich folder in MODMAN/LOMAN directory!, without overwriting original file... Do you have any custom overcast mods installed? Cheers, Cola -

What's your L01 and L12 setting for the LandDay and LandNight entry, in graphics.cfg file? Cheers, Cola -
Never happened to me, but if TGA fails to install, your game disk may be damaged. If possible, skip damaged file and overwrite it later, after the installation completes. Cheers, Cola

When strafing T-80s, try to maintain steeper descending angle, than against softer targets. This is because you need to hit T-80 in the top armor, where it's weakest. Once you get enough practise, you'll be able to take out a whole T-80 company with GAU-8, only. Cheers, Cola

Well, I can't remember exactly...'t was long ago...but this is a typical line. Su27BackEngine { Mode3D = true; Loop = true; Front = false; Inside = 90; Outside = 180; Volume = 1.0; Silence = 0.01; Size = 100; Radius = 5000; Group = "Engine"; } So, it may be "Mode3D"=off; "Inside/Outside" ranges screwed; Size=screwed; Radius=screwed. May be something else, but I can remember those usually being tweaked. My advice would be to revert to default sound.cfg. I'd send you one, but I'm running Flaming Cliffs and I'm not sure whether those two are compatible. Cheers, Cola

I had the same problem once...I can't remember what was it related to, but wasn't sound setting (strange)...something to do FPS/graphics...bah, if I remember will post  Remembered. There's a sound.cfg file in Sound directory. Some addons tweak values from there (grrr forgot what which means), in order to get more FPS from the engine, while playing. So, I commonly lost all noncockpit sound, when tweaked those values. This is especially true, if you got sound acceleration set to "NONE" (in DXdiag screen), which also grants you more FPS out of the engine... Hope this helps (it's been a while, so I forgot the details) Cheers, Cola

Try my way and yours and see which one gets you out faster. This is computer game... Cheers, Cola

Halo Install MODMAN (LOMAN) mods exclusively until you get the feeling of which does and which doesn't work, or collide! MODMAN's mods have the advantage when you uninstall them the game reverts to default and should work without reinstallation. As for FPS optimization, try to "kill" the water first (any water FPS tweaking mod will do). Second, sky, clouds and cockpit tweaks (no scratches on glass, etc...) Third are buildings and woods. Finally, movable objects aren't that much of graphic engine encumberance, but more FPS costly due AI calculations. As for your hardware config, the game must fly (40-50 FPS encumbered/low and 200 FPS empty sky viewed from cockpit) Cheers, Cola

In LOMAC you do get buffet at or below velocity corner, but plane rarely (can't remember when) departs. However, occasional flat spins, though rare, still occur. If that happens, just push stick forward and opposite to the spin direction. Don't forget to add rudder opposite to spin direction as well. Cheers, Cola

Hello newbie... AI planes always shoot both flares and chaff as long as they have been threatened by the enemy. They're so smart that can even detect MANPADs in the forest and throw flares. Don't worry as AI has unlimited number of decoys, so this is perfectly normal. Cheers, Cola

I think that in second report, Vista's NT(XP) interface collapsed (?). How does your other programs (Vista non-native in particular) work? Any problems too, or its just LO?
-
True...however, I could not Alt+Tab at all, so yes my problem was slightly different, sorry... Btw, Crunch any news about mouse mapping in FC. Does it work at all, or the axis mapping is just formal?? Thx, Cola
-
Hm...not sure and I had the same problem. Then I changed the keyboard and the problem was gone...I don't think it has anything to do with LockOn and keyboard, but with Windows and keyboard. Cola

Halo, I've noticed buildings pop-up on the border of drawing range. Same goes for trees, but there's a tree no pop-up addon which solves that. LOMAC 1.02, solved buildning pop-ups, by replacing original 1.02's DXRender.dll with "tweaked" dll and all worked fine. However, this dll doesn't work for FC. Is there some other "tweaked" dll for FC, or is there any way to solve this in general? Thx a lot, Cola
-
Yes well, I've been flying by mouse for almost 15 years now and it's not going to change...However, any help regarding input will be appreciated...THX :)
-
Crunch, I locatedthe problem. Since I'm flying by mouse and input.dll from FC doesn't enable flying by mouse (although I can map mouse axes normally!!), I've "borrowed" input.dll from V1.01 and that was the cause of the problem... Question: How do I enable a mouse to fly with it in FC? Thx

Did it, but to no avail...except it took me good 10 minutes to reassign my custom keys again :) Seriously, I didn't touch comms and Comm shortcuts this time and the problem remains...all goes well until after the first raido use. Then it keeps poping up...bah...
-
I did some more testing and it seems that all works fine, until I trigger radio for the first time. After that Comms Menu keeps poping up at random(?!) intervals, regardless of pressed buttons...hm... It seems the game keeps triggering radio all by itself and apparently that has nothing to do with keyboard or binded key...
-
Well, tried half the keyboard and SHIFT combos too, but no help! Shift combo even locked complete keyboard (except system commands), so I had to Alt-Tab and close LockOn from Task Manager! LOL?! Don't know. Never seen anything like this. Thx, anyway
-
Halo, Didn't find this problem in forum, so here it goes... At first, by mistake I unbinded Comms Menu key and everything was ok, apart from lack of Comms. Now, I've binded a key to Comms Menu and from that moment on, it keeps poping up whenever I press some F key, or more rare on other keys. As you can imagine it's terribly annoying and when that happens in the middle of barell roll atack...well, the game gets unplayable...WTF?! Anyone encountered this problem already?! THX Cola
