  1. Hi, I have my DCS on a separate SSD (Fdrive) but I am now upgrading my system to include a new MB, CPU, RAM and SSD.(Cdrive) and fresh Win10. Can I just plug my Fdrive with DCS on it into my new system and let Windows sort it out or will I have to do a clean install of DCS? Cheers.
  2. Post by Mr Sukebe, it may be wrong but that's my source... "Currently using an i5 2500@4ghz, 1080, 24GB DDR3, SSD drive, Rift. I use Process Lasso to assist and MSI Afterburner (not to overclock, but to keep an eye on my GPU). Have been playing around with settings for the last couple of hours. Some interesting findings: - 2.5 appears to have gone multi-core for the CPU! Both task manager and Afterburner are showing CPU loadings to be well spread across all 4 cores. AWESOME. It was also not 100% maxed at any time, though clearly well used. The rough mean was around 65% for each core. That's a seriously good win. - Total system usage was 9GB of ram (for everything, i.e. Windows, DCS, Afterburner, Process Lasso, Voiceattack etc, whilst running a mission on Cauc). - Deferred shading still doesn't really like MSAA. When I turned on MSAA, resulted in a hit on my frame rates that was resulting in too much time below 45hz for my Rift. I disabled MSAA and that helped - With DS and MSAA enabled, I was getting a LOT of stutters. From investigation, it was NOT my CPU or GPU being maxed out on workload. Both were running circa 60-70%. I did however find that my GPU Memory usage was absolutely maxed out at just under 8GB. by disabling MSAA, that GPU Ram usage dropped to circa 7.6GB and it ran MUCH better, with very few frame drops - Reduced pre-load radius also seemed to help, but I need to investigate and test that further - I maxed out my "trees" setting and in Cauc, I could see no frame rate impact. Very nice Overall, and GOOD improvement, once I'd fiddled with my settings a bit. More importantly, that's identified the key bottleneck for me, i.e. my GPU RAM. Hopefully ED can offload a little of that to the system ram without too much impact."
  3. I too have had underwhelming results with 2.2 and 1.5 Suddenly, with 2.5 I can run on maximum with everything looking amazing and still get a solid 60fps! From what I've read, 2.5 is using multi core processors fully instead of just 2 cores as before. I think it's brilliant, a few bugs, but imagine what it will be like in 6 months time!
  4. I use Nvidia Surround and then use the 1 monitor setting at 5784 x 1080. Works great but make sure you do all the alignment thing in Nvidia. I tried it the way you have yours and it felt really weird. The surround way works much better.
  5. Just wanted to share this. Talk about bad luck.......:megalol:
  6. Thanks so much Snowsniper. It's exactly what I needed, perfect for solo training and great because I can see the mechanics of how it's done, brilliant! Thanks again guys for all the help.
  7. Hi Feefifofum. So, I tried the script thing. All is well till I shoot the bandit down then I get an error message saying "Syntax error, end eof". The whole thing freezes then and I have to use task manager to get out. I'm sure it's a typo or something on my part but any help would be appreciated.
  8. Thanks Feefifofum! I'll have a go at that tonight.
  9. Hi, I'm trying to make a very basic mission where I dogfight a single Spitfire against a ME109. All I need it to do is respawn the enemy when I shoot them down. It's probably something very simple but I can't seem to work it out... Any pointers would be great, if I'm being thick then I apologise in advance!
  10. I've spent the last five hours flying. It's the first time I've thought that AMD processors can actually deal with DCS. A very solid 60fps on high settings, no stutters, just smooth performance. Fantastic!
  11. I've had huge problems with stuttering and FPS until now. Suddenly I can run on high setting with a steady 60fps. Great update, looks nice too! If this is a taste of 2.5 I'm really looking forward to the release.
  12. Hi Guys, I have three matching Ilyama 24" monitors running 5760 x 1080 through a GTX1070. Despite the limitations of DCS not having a true triple screen setting it still works pretty well. I use the Nvidia surround and set DCS to 5760 x 1080 on single screen. I think I'd find it hard to go back to a single screen now, it's so much more immersive. You have to have matching monitors though, it would be more trouble than it's worth with differing sizes.
  13. I really want a Rift Cibit! It seems like my system is up to it, but it's a lot of money though.... I'm going to keep playing with the settings you've suggested while trying to work out how I can sneak a Rift past the missus! Thanks for the input.
