  1. I have had voice attack for a while, but I was in a move that took longer than expected. When I tried to used it again, I kept getting some weird message, and the program wouldn't work. So I uninstalled it and I still can get it to work. It would be nice to use this again with the rift as hitting the F keys is a bit difficult lol.

  2. Well I passed the emergencies mission and moved onto the instrument landing mission, after umpteen attempts I was about to ace it when the instructor crashes into me on finals ! :(.

Shame I didn`t get to my Master Arm and Gun Arm quick enough.

Has anyone else had this happen ?.

This happens to me every once in a while when I'm landing on any of the missions. I find that just having my wing man orbit before I get to the approach fix and then call for him to RTB when I've landed cures the issue.

  3. We don't want to compete with MF missions, which are great. In fact, I think both campaigns may be going together well.

There is a couple of things I want to point out:

    A) This campaign won't grade your skills - yes, there will be 2-3 complex missions simulating the real battlefield that will require you to put things you have learned to test, but its main goal is not to assess you. It is to teach you. So we will go deep into functioning of sensors, systems etc. Including those which are not utilised by most of other mission designers, like correct radio frequencies use. We will also try to give some tips and tricks that might be useful during missions. You should learn all that you need to be really proficient in the more demanding SP campaigns - like TEW or (knowing his excellent work so far) upcoming Ranger79s one.

    B) This will be done with great focus on storyline and characters. This campaign is set at a very specific background - preparation to participate in an emerging conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, it has defined characters (you will play a National Guard captain who has flown on A-10As and is coming for a familiarisation training on a Charlie) and it will heavily depend on atmosphere during the missions, with chit-chat from other flights, developing relationship with your IP as the campaign progresses etc.

    C) This campaign is intended as a part of trilogy, using the same setting and parts of characters that will appear here, then in M-2000C Red Flag set in Mevada, and finaly in A-10C campaign in Strait of Hormuz when the map is available. There will be some parallels drawn with the stock M-2000C campaign (you will meet some of the pilots featured there).

And just to give you an example of the magnitude - we are finalising work on script for M1 and I assess that it will probably have at least 200-300 lines of VOs (probably more) and will last around 1.5-2h, with the startup and quick familiarisation flight. And it will just touch upon some of the stuff which we will go deeper into in next missions.

Hope this gives you a more clear idea!

Perfect! Sounds like it'll be on my buy list. I need my computer back so I can play. I'm so jonesing right now lol.

  4. How does this compare to the Maple Flag missions? I have all three of their campaigns which, for the most part, I thought were done extremely well. Is this more sensor in depth? I'm just a little tentative on this one. You've done amazing work so I know this will be well done, just don't know if I'd be buying the same thing again.

  5. First of all, the F-35's haven't been to Red Flag, they participated in Green Flag. Second of all, the squadron that participated in Green Flag were from the Test Squadron, but that doesn't mean they're not combat birds. Third of all, the ability to physically drop a weapon for the purposes of Green Flag were not important. It was about JTAC integration and air defense penetration. The falling characteristics of a GBU do not change based on the aircraft carrying it, so the F-35s made simulated runs, but they still punched through OpFor air defenses, and operated in concert with JTACS to simulate their runs.

So yeah, the Green Flag exercises meant something.

I do apologies for mixing up the event, I assumed they were talking about red flag. However the F-35s at green flag were not combat coded. As of right now there are only six combat coded F-35. I know this because I work at Hill in the unit that has them. There is a big difference between a test and evaluation jet and a combat coded jet. So it does make a difference which jets were used. And as no jet from the 34 FS has been anywhere, those test results aren't conclusive to state any case positive or negative. But according to our pilots who have flown against them, the jets really impressive.

  6. So it just dawned on me, after reading this thread and seeing people use what the F-35 did at a red flag, none of those F-35 are combat coded. They are all test planes. I know this because Hill AFB just got the first combat coded F-35 in Septemebr. And there were only two of them. I work on the base and my profile pic is the day they came in. So it doesn't really matter how they did at red flag up to this point. None of those were combat F-35s. Just food for thought.

  7. Your not kidding, when I joined the ART program (SMCO), it was a bit confusing to have Msgts out banging rivits and painting planes all reperatered up. Just regular wage grade civilian wearing the uniform during the week. To add to the confusion, at my base we work right along side the active duty and its pretty much their show. It's usually an active 7 level staff or tech making the calls. Pretty common for a pro-sup to roll up looking for answers from a master only to be referred to the staff shift supervisor.

It's the same for us we are a TFI unit as well. Although I've only seen the guard with MSgts out on the line. We just have TSgt and below on the line. But the good news is since the active duty unit is getting the 35 first, we get it first. This is going to be the longest four days of my life lol.

  8. Crewchief or chief is just a term. The official names in the USAF are Dedicated Crew Chief or DCC ( highest ranking enlisted person assigned to a specific aircraft) and Assistant DCC (any other enlisted personnel assigned to a specific aircraft). Most pilots call anyone in the Flight line (where we work on the jets) as "chief". As an ADCC, you tend to work on your assigned aircraft more often than not, but DCC (since they are more experience) work all over. You don't have to be a specific type of mechanic to be assigned as a DCC. You can be a Weapons Loader, Avionics Specialist, Engine Specialist, etc. but this is rare. Most DCC and ADCC in fighter aircraft are Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist (TAMS).

I am a crew chief and the DCC on my jet. I am also an ART, so I work as a civilian during the week. Because of that if my jets on the schedule, I'm on her. I can only think of a handful of times in the last year that I haven't launched her out. I know on other bases the DCC program is different, but technically since I'm a civilian, they can't put me on anything but my jet. As that was what I was hired to do.

  9. A quick question, if I don't have CA can I still do this campaign? Every time I do a mission that I'm suppose to support a group to some point, I fail. I kill everything JTACs don't have any targets and when I tell pine or elm to go in via F10 I don't hear a reply. Heck I don't even hear me say anything. Any help would be useful

  10. the word "addiction" keeps coming up

do you SERIOUSLY think this is an.......... addiction??

    addiction has a specific definition

and, if its real, shouldn't be taken lightly - it should be treated like an illness or disease

but i hardly think people are addicted to VIDEO GAMES --- maybe they make poor choices

maybe not even "poor choices" per se, maybe wives/GFs/whatever have either changed or moved on or found someone else ----- and you simply weren't a match any more (hey, if she was neglecting me, i'd be out the door too!)

but just because someone leaves you, doesn't mean you're "addicted" ---- heck, ppl call it quits for lots of reasons - and those aren't "addictions"

Yes video games can be an addiction. The moment it affects your job, relationships, and you cannot quit, then it is an addiction that you need to seek treatment for. Now I would say that video games for an addiction, while can do the same damage as a substance addiction, is often less harmful than other type of addictions.

  11. Just a Note here:

IRL it is never advised to turn over a wheel with locked brake and/or a wheel that is standing stil.

This will grind the tire and possibly overstress the Gear shockstrut mechanism because of the tordation force .

The wheel should always be rolling during a turn.

If you have to make tight turns, avoid braking, and if you must use brakes, only use the brake on the outside of the turn, not the inner.

Just something you have to give attention to during taxi in almost every Aircraft.

    Greetz,

It actually depends on the aircraft and situation. For example, the F/A-18 will use wheel breaks and pivot on a tire on the flight deck due to the small amount of space if the yellow shirt tells him to. Granted it's not really done on the beach, or a lot on the boat, but still done with enough frequency that I wouldn't say it's not adviised. However, on an A-10, or any Air Force jet for that matter, I haven't seen any pilot do it yet. But the gear on carrier based planes vs land locked planes are much different.

  12. Hello everyone,

I am a new player (just got DCS yesterday), and I played around with the SU-25T for a bit, and then bought the F-15C. I downloaded the "F-15C Basic Flight Training Qualification" but I can't seem to find out how to install it. I went to "http://www.gamefront.com/files/21681483" to download JSGME but then I got a virus alert that just showed a red screen warning me of an unsafe page. Can anyone explain to me on how to install that file or how to get training missions for the F-16?

    Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about the Maple Flag Missions than you need to go to their website. They have step by step instructions on how to set up their campaigns. I have four of them, 3 for the A-10C and the F-15C campaigns. Its not too in-depth to set up. you just have to rename the file to .exe and away you go. I hope that helps you out. You wont need JSGME.

  13. I would buy this plane if it was the US Navy version. It would be awesome to use this to train for the F/A-18C as real US Navy pilots do. But alas not meant to be. VEAO even mentions that they don't have plans to adopt the US version, apparently they are quite different.

  14. I find rudder are very important even in basic maneuvering. I use them on every turn, I'm far more accurate in my turns. It took me a bit to get the hang of it. A tip for you, when looking at the ADI that ball under it you want to keep that in the center. Just like a level. it sounds weird but, the way you do it is to push the rudder peddle the ball falls to. So if you make a left turn you use left rudder and you'll keep the ball in the center.
