  1. Options top to bottom: -16 x 120 kg bombs + droptank, OR 16 x flarebombs + droptank -3 x Rb 04 ASM. This was a transport mode, since the one fitted to the central pylon couldn't be fired. (Could also have been a planned option) -1 Rb 04 in transport mode + ECM and flare/chaff pod -2 Rb 04 + droptank -2 Rb 75 Maverick on wingpylons -2 Rb 75 on inner pylons -2 Rb 05 AGM, rough equivalent of AGM-12 Bullpup + Countermeasures -2 Rb 05, CMs, droptank -2 Rb 05, 2 gunpods, droptank -2 Rb 05, gunpods -2 Rb 05 -2 6x135mm rocket pods, CMs -2 rocketpods, droptank -4 rocketpods -2 gunpods -2 gunpods, droptank -2 Rb24/Rb24J Sidewinders, droptank -2 sidewinders, 2 gunpods -2 sidewinders Computerpower and wiring are the biggest limiters regarding number of weapons carried at one time. More could be hung of course, but it couldn't be fired. There has also been some surprise at forums over some of these options as some of them simply weren't used. (mounting on different pylons for no apparant reason) The droptank was used as often as possible (always during peace) and was really considered an extra tank, only to be dropped in emergencies.
  2. Great, now they're never going to announce DCS Viggen, in fear of breaking the internet we so badly need.
  3. A Mig-25 would be awesome as a future DCS level module. It would need it's proper opponents/targets to shine though, meaning little capability in multiplayer without specific scenarios around bombers/recon aircraft. An interesting option would be a Mig-25RB, with recon/strike missions and high-speed dashes into enemy territory.
  4. Wait, what? I just don't follow. In my opinion it would make sense for LN to create an opponent for the Mig-21, so it won't have to go up against the myriad of aircraft you just mentioned. But instead creating a good setting for a campaign/era (A new map, probably Gotland, with perhaps (hopefully as to avoid airborne starts) a bit of east coast Sweden and a bit of west coast Estonia/USSR.) The F-14 is a contemporary (even if superior) to the Mig-21Bis and the AJ-37. Don't worry, more Russian craft will come with all certainty. If you believe a certain one is coming, start a happy thread, professing your love and why it should and could be it! The DCS Viggen hasn't been confirmed and there is no need to get sad over piecemeal launches in this thread.
  5. I believe 16x120kg bombs give right of way. Otherwise just blame the Despatch rider guiding you! (Just to be clear, I don't expect or really want time spent on those) But the ability to back up will be welcome for those parkings! (even if there won't be any beep-ing sounds during) I guess you can actually reenter and exit those shelters parked all around Caucasus. (If they were only bullet-proof)
  6. If it truly is DCS Viggen, I hope to see roadbases on the new map. The ability to land on a country road, reload and refuel, would be a neat feature, and as integral to the idea of a warfighting Viggen (in Sweden) as the carrier to the F-14. The regular airbases were assumed to be taken out very early in a shooting war, and dispersal was thought to be the only way to ensure survival in any numbers. Sorry for the swedish, but at least there are some neat scenes from said roadbases to look at! https://youtu.be/PoQtnugT6A4?t=1m32s
  7. Interesting report, even giving the frequencies for the U-22 pod! Someone with a bit of knowledge of and/or time to invest in corresponding radars could probably guess the intended targets of ECM-attack. I remember reading that the U-22A was used on some models even after the introduction of the U-95. Presumably because the U-22 pod targeting radars certain models were more likely to encounter. Don't know how true that is though. I believe it was the recon viggens that kept the U-22. I also remember reading that the capabilities and/or existance of ECM-pods weren't known by military planners! Lovely "fast vehicle" footage! :D (were are my chaff/flare dispensers?) But I thought the Lada Riva had already been confirmed?
  8. Only if you want the BOY-401 dispensers. Real Viggen pilots use the "Kapsel KB" pod in place of weapons. I believe both the KA and KB pods were secret (even to the pilots and planners) during a large part of the cold war however. It is similar to the BOZ-100 pod. The KA pod was later replaced with more modern versions of ECM-pods beginning in the 80's (U22/U22A/U95) The EW versions were converted Sk37's, called Sk37E. They were part of målflygsdivisionen (a practice unit without any pilots distributed to them in wartime if I recall) and trained other pilots on how to fight in an ECM-environment. It seems highly unlikely we'll see this variant. The SH37 had a slightly modified radar, better at detecting ships at sea, but worse while feet dry. It also had the ability to carry photo recon pods. It often paired up with SF37's due to the SF37's better nosecamera during maritime intercepts. My hopes for a Viggen is maxed out! I don't really care if it's a AJ, JA or AJS variant!
