  1. Read the manual isn't stated over and over and over again for fun... it's just that 90%+ of your questions are answered in there. There are certainly specifics that are either vaguely covered or run into the "sim vs reality" issue... but there really is a HUGE amount of info in there... I'm still reading it after having been flying this sim for a while now. I'm bad in that I can't really read it front to back straight through, but I've read everything at least once and have read several sections many times. Other things that helped me are for startup. Watch that then watch it again. Write down every single thing and know it. You don't have to memorize it, but having done that a few times you will have a relatively solid grasp on the startup and the various general systems of the aircraft. Watch all of the "On the Range" series by Bunyap Sims on YouTube. Vids by Gerry Abbott are also very helpful. Going through all that stuff thouroughly will put you in a place to ask more specific questions rather than a more general "How to learn this sim" frame of mind. Don't get me wrong, it's great to ask questions and to have an awesome community to answer them. Just, there is a lot of material out there... just have to get over the instant gratification thing I think. Not you specifically, but more of just a general statement.
  2. Inspgadget, what sort of information are looking for an n a wiki? I'm curious if you are looking for a different version of the manual, or if you are looking for more of tips and tricks that apply directly to this sim...
  3. Yeah, I've noticed that with that checked that some planes have the stick gone but the a-10c is one that doesn't yet.
  4. Yeah, a 3 brrrrtt chorus might be pretty fun, lol.
  5. I didn't think so. I wonder why they mentioned it in the manual.
  6. Page 656 in my version of the a-10c manual shows a diagram of he electrical system and one of the items listed as connected to the left a/c bus is the SUU-23 gun pod. Is this something we can do? I haven't seen it before, nor have I heard of a gun pod being mounted to an a-10 before.
  7. I am running into the same issue on the latest version of 1.5 as of now. It really throws me off as I'm trying to learn to approach, traffic pattern, land properly now. :/
  8. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? ^ Delays and the need to comment out that line just to get the game and the app to communicate? Would really like to get this working again.
  9. I'm not seeing any PAPI lights at Batumi... recently found out about them and saw them in a video talking about landing and they guy that made the vid was incindentaly landing at Batumi and he mentioned the PAPI lights. I had no idea what they were and looked into it and was excited to have a new tool to help me land properly. Went to try it in Open Beta v.1.5.5.59744 and nope... I don't have PAPI lights at Batumi. Are they tied into the graphics settings? Object counts? Viewable Object distances?
  10. rottie, I was having the same issue. I couldn't figure it out and had to reset my router since I stupidly forgot the password then spent forever trying to reconfigure the thing and I kept thinking I was doing it wrong because it still didn't work. I found this post and tried your fix to comment out line 34 of the export.lua file... still didn't work because I accidentally changed some other lines without noticing... once I started looking at the dcs.log file I was able to track down my added errors and then again try and fail the checked the dcs.log file again and I got the same error you have/had. Commented out line 34 again and ran and it works just fine. I however am not getting any lag issues. This issue popped up with the latest IOS update for me. Actually the part about lag is not true... I did end up getting pretty slow last night. About a 5-7 second delay...
  11. Hello everyone, I'm curious if there is anyone here that is or knows of a resource for information regarding the Visual FX/Particle work in DCS and how to go about creating new and/or modified particles. I would really like to try my hand at making some new visual effects for DCS, but am not really sure with how/where or how to test them efficiently as spare time is in short supply right now. I'm definitely not new to the realm of visual effects, but I am new when it comes to visual effects for DCS.
  12. Now, some folks... ehrm... (Myself)... Have never used "Custom" Terrain Textures... Starway, this keeps getting called a "DLC" where DLC usually doesn't require any sort of file replacement or anything of the sort that is typically associated with "Modding" a game. Is this something you just run an executable and it will work, or does the game need to be "Modded" by manually replacing files? If it does require manual file replacement, could we also get some detailed instructions as to how to do that exactly? I realise many of the folks here have done it a lot and it's second nature for them at this point or they are using some sort of mod managing software, but for many others that's not the case. Just a set of clear concise "Mod Install Instructions" would be nice if that is the case. Using JSGME may or may not be an option for some people and regardless, you still have to know the exact manual install instructions as you have to mimic the folder structure in JSGME.
  13. Donated. Happily. I wholeheartedly understand the amount of work this takes. Thank you for your commitment to make this a better experience for us.
