Trouble in the Straits
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in User Created Missions General
I have downloaded the mission and started it multiple times. Strangely, every time Harriers took off correctly without crashing. This must have something to do with takeoff weight. Can you try lowering the weight either by reducing the fuel load or weapons? It would be very helpfull since I cannot recreate this issue on my computer. Thank you for trying out this mission! -
Trouble in the Straits

Stennis included in this mission is the standar unit included with DCS. Regards -
One of the scenarios based on "tanker war" between Iran and western countries. As part of deescalation agreement between Iran and USA it was agreed that Iran would decommission its Tomcat fleet. Airworthly airframes are being flown by USN pilots to UAE to be scraped at Al Minhad AB. You are flying one of the last Tomcats to UAE in the early morning. A local Dubai radio station, Banker radio on 82.3MHz, is playing all 80s hits, tune to it to make your boring flight time pass more quickly. You are flying high above Abu Dhabi when you hear the news. An Ukranian flag tanker is stopped in the southern shipping corridor just south of the Siri island. Iranians are claiming the ship is part of an illegal ELINT operation. It is reasonable to expect that they will try to board it for inspection or sink it plainright. Iranians have experienced IRGC marine crews equipped with Mi-8s on Abu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunb islands. Also, a pair of missile boats are spotted just south of Bandar Lengeh. US marines have a Tarawa group with Harriers just south of Sir Abu island. They are scrambling a pair of Harriers (callsign Pontiac) to fly a patrol over the stranded tanker. They are lightly armed with a pair of GPU-12 each in case they need to counter any surface threats. In case the scenario spirales out of control it is reasonable to expect that Iranians will scramble F-5Es (callsign Enfield) from any of nearby airbases, Kish, Bandar Langeh or Tunb. Our ELINT resources in the area have pinpointed the Enfield flightgroup communicating at 315MHz AM. All remaining Tomcats are located in Bandar Abbas. They may still have some Phoenix missiles operational. Iranians may choose to scramble these as a last resort measure. Also, there are MiG-29s patrolling further north inland. They may also be called to help. UAE is determined not to get involved militarily since deescalation agreement is interpreted as USA leaving its ally in the lurch. Above Abu Dhabi you have only supporting aircraft, AWACS (callsign Overlord) and KC-135 (callsign Texaco). Air-to-air refueling is on 255MHz (channel 16) and TACAN 12X (TKR). UAEAF will only provide a BARCAP for these support aircraft wit a pair of M-2000C. USN is caught a little bit off-guard in this situation since carrier group is located just off Fujairah. The carrier group is ready to scramble a pair of F-18s (callsign Sprinigfield) if situation gets out of control. Keep in mind that they are some 140 miles away. This group is transmiting on 305MHz (channel 19), tune in to check their status. Carrier group 127.5MHz AM (Ch15) TACAN 55X (CBG) Texaco (KC-135 refueling) 255MHz AM (Ch 16), TACAN 12X (TKR) Overlord (E-3C AWACS) 251MHz AM (Ch 17) Pontiac (AV-8B) 243MHz AM (Ch 18 ) Springfield (F-18C) 305MHz AM (Ch19) Enfield (F-5) 315MHz AM (Ch 20) Mission: LINK Please post your comment so that I can improve the mission.

Oculus Rift with DCS World Discussion
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to NineLine's topic in Virtual Reality
System performance These are my specs: 1. CPU: i7 4770K at 4.3GHz 2. MEM: 32GB PC3-12800 at 1600MHz 3. SSD: DCS on Samsung SSD 960 Pro M.2 512GB MZ-V6P512BW OS on SSD Kingston V300 240GB 4. Graphics: GTX 1080 8GB at 1700MHz I believe this is top of the line PC config, maybe memory could be faster and CPU could be a bit newer generation but generally I think this is a monster config. What kind of performance should I expect in Rift CV1? In both 1.5 and 2.0 I never get 90FPS. At times it is even around 25FPS in 1.5 around large cities. 2.0 is generally better and almost always stays at 45FPS. I get minor, unnoticeable, improvements when I scale down graphics settings. So I generally set everything at max except flat shadows. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong or it's just the outdated engine of the DCS? -
Wow, memories! The same place (same plane?) some 20 years ago. I guess it's the same plane only repainted (removed all the markings :( ) and moved it a little back, closer to the flag pole. Analog photo technology of the summer of '95. Cheers!

Since last night's update I noticed that radar display gets exported to second monitor (I already have configuration in place for all other modules) but it is displayed only in external F2 view?!? Anyone else having experience with this?

Can MiG-21 radar detect target below 1500m now ?
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to anlq's topic in MiG-21Bis
I believe Mig23 was first to have doppler radar capable of look-down shoot-down. -
This is not really a bug nor important but spring-wire between cockpits does not exist in external model. :music_whistling: BTW, a REALLY nice touch with that wire flexing during flight.

[Reported] Unwanted Background Image on 4th Monitor
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to pdmarsh's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Same thing on 2 monitor setup I have a two monitor setup with primary monitor displaying 3D and secondary monitor displaying two MFCDs. I have the same problem with secondary monitor showing MFCDs viewports correctly but everything outside that contains garbled game graphics. Some 3D frozen terrain , multiple HUDs etc. Seems like anything outside viewports is not invalidated/redrawn by the new engine. Apart from being plain ugly I can't see my FPS counter as most important thing in 1.5. :) Here is mu multimonitor setup: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('2 Monitor Both MFCD'); Description = '2 Monitor Both MFCD' Viewports = { Center = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1920/1200; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 0; y = 60; width = 960; height = 960; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 960; y = 60; width = 960; height = 960; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center -
I searched the forum and found several posts regarding this issue but still no solution. Can someone help me create a functioning US mortar team that will on some trigger start firing on some designated map point. Scenario is to have mortar firing repeatedly and player has to locate and destroy this unit. So far I have put a mortar unit on a map but strangely it only consists of mortar tubes, no soldiers and I can't make it fire. Are there any limitations for mortars except range maybe?

Radio issue on MP servers? What is your experience with this radio issue on MiG-21 on popular multiplayer servers? The only fix is for guys running servers to open and resave missions that are running on the MP server?

I have a two monitor setup. When I click on Mission planner button for any single or campaign missions I get blank light blue screen. This doesn't happen if I go directly to mission editor to create new missions. Any clues? EDIT: Tried it with simple single monitor setup and still get blank screen with light blue background, music continues playing, everything seems OK but no UI or anything on the screen. Only when I try to edit campaign or single mission. Mission editor works OK. Thanks

How to repair installation
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yes, I have solved my problem, deleted whole folder: C:\Users\<windows username>\Saved Games\DCS If deleting everything is too much for you (you loose all your settings) then you may experiment with deleting specific files and folder under this folder. Cheers -

[sOLVED] The issue was with something saved / corrupted in Saved Games folder in Windows user folder. After deleting this SavedGames folder everything works fine. Unfortunatelly too late... Unfortunately before finding this out I uninstalled everything, uninstalled Visual C++ Runtimes, made a mess out of my system... :( -
How to repair installation
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I unnstalled EVERYTHING, cleared registry of all mentiones of Eagle Dynamics and DCS and GUESS WHAT after reinstall: I still can'tstart quick mission builder (nothing happens when I click the button) and mission planner button before clicking fly gives me strange light blue screen with DCS prgress bar at 100%. I have redownloaded and reinstalled the newest versions and now I am really worried. Can someone give me some assistance to ge DCS fully functional again? Maybe this may be connected to some Catalyst settings. Of couse, after uninstall I have deleted the folder manualy. Is there anytrhing special that I should delete to clear all traces of DCS configs on my machine? It seems to me that even after this reinstall procedure DCS World remembered my graphics settings... -
Radeon and Geforce in one system
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My question was more of an academic one. Just wondering if this secondary card (how the system chooses primary one ???) is only used as a simple 2D frame buffer and its rendering pipeline is never used? I have some OpenGL programming experience and I can't see how could I use secondary graphics card to render another view of the same scene (TGP or MAV view for example). I guess in DCS this secondary graphics card is used purely as 2D frame buffer but maybe someone with more detailed knowledge of DCS internals could clarify this. Cheers -
How to repair installation
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
BSOD was a single occurrence and was caused by me experimenting with OC limits for my CPU and memory. It happened never before and never after that one time. I am not even sure that this is the time instance after which mission planner functionality ceased to work. My presumption was maybe that it corrupted some files. This behavior is really strange, everything else works OK only when I click on fast mission builder menu option nothing happens, and when I click mission planer before clicking Fly button I get standard DCS progress bar stuck at 100% and the whole screen is filled with single color light blue. Mission planner button does this disregarding the type of the mission (single, campaign...). I can alt-tab and close DCS regularly. Since I have BS2 upgrade license and FC2 is prerequisite for FC3 I would prefer to avoid complete reinstall... Licenses fiddling etc... -

1.2.2.7570 During one campaign mission startup I got BSOD and I BELIEVE after that this behaviour started. I can'tstart quick mission planner nmor can start mission planner prior to mission start (campaign nor single mission). I have ALL modules installed apart from P51D. I REALLY don't want to reinstall everything. I hope repair or forced update will help. Just I don't have these shortcuts in start programs menu so it would be very helpful if someone could tell me how to start repair or forced update manually. I uess it's DCS_updater with some flags... Cheers -
Today I have noticed that I can no longer activate mission planer prior to mission start. It just shows blue screen with empty prograssbar in the bottom middle of the screen. Also I have noticed that create quick mission option does nothing. In my start menu I have no force update or repair options. I just don't want to reinstall everything all over again. How can I manually start repair or forced update? Someone just please take a look at your windows start programs and copy here what update and repair shortcuts start. Thanks Cheers

Soon I will be upgrading my graphics card to 670 and will have a spare 6950. I am running a two monitor setup. Since I don't necesary need to sell it and have no second computer I was wondering if it would be beneficial to keep it in the system in another PCIe slot and use it to drive second monitor? From what I read on Google it is indeed possible to have one radeon and one geforce in one system and use them to drive two or more monitors for extended desktop in windows. My question is if I export TAD and TGP on that second monitor being driven by my old 6950 will I notice performance improvement coompared to scenario in which both monitors are driven by one graphics card? Will this setup be more futureproof if I decide to run multimonitor setup (4) at some point? Cheers

Country not listed when paying with credit card
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in Payment and Activation
Croatia worked out. Thank you for your suggestion. For a moment I was worried I would be unable to get my copy of FC2. -
I don't know if this is a valid place to report problems with payment for FC2.0 but here it goes: I have a problem trying to pay for FC2.0 with credit card. When I enter billing address my country (Serbia) is listed, but when I enter my credit card info form doesn't list my country. There is no Serbia, but only Yugoslavia (which Serbia used to be part of but Yugoslavia doesn't exist for some years now). I tried to select Yugoslavia but my credit card number was rejected because invalid country was selected. I guess country is somehow coded into credit card number. I have tried with Visa and MasterCard with the same results. Obviously something has changed since last year because I have previously successfully purchased online with the same credit card both Flaming Cliffs and Black Shark. Regards

Core2Duo or QuadCore
102nd-YU-TazMan replied to 102nd-YU-TazMan's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, I'm rather conservative on the budget. I thought something like E8500 or some similar quad core, 4870, 4GB RAM, 2x500GB RAID stripping. As far as I could conclude from posts on this forum this rig would be quite capable of runing BS at max details in missions with reasonable amount of action. My only dilemma is weather to go with higher clocked C2D or some similarly priced quad core. Operating system will be Vista for obvious reasons of core affinity patch. Regards -
I am packing a new machine specially intended for BS and I am having a dilema. Is it better to get quad core processor or go for faster core2duo? How is E8500 performing in BS, any experiences? Regards,
