  1. Agree! I bound it to the Warthog joystick NWS button and was flipping over all the time. I soon learned if you apply brakes for more than half a second you'll nose over. However, with rapid tap-tap-tap and slight rudder in the desired direction I can now land and roll out. Yay!
  2. Me too. No fireballs of death yet! Much "better" than the other birds!
  3. Ah yes, that'll be the old "trim nose down for take-off" thing. I say why stop her from flying when that's what she wants to do :music_whistling:
  4. Okay, so shall we share our initial thoughts, experiences and tips? First takeoff: it just shot into the air while I was still settling in to my seat. My stick was back and it nearly stalled. So, really short take-off roll! Landing: came in gently; thought I had a nice rate of descent. Nope, bounced up a long way. Came down hard, broke one prop blade. Otherwise, I walked away on the first go!
  5. I think I've wrecked more Doras than were built IRL. At least it will be harder to beat that number with Mk IXs.
  6. I just spent a good hour after purchasing the F-5 investigating this, thinking this was a bug in the controller setup, or possibly my Warthog TM being faulty. I now read here that it's a FEATURE?! But it's weird that the NWS is triggering the radio while you're on the ground. Oh well. You live and learn! Now to fly...
  7. I purchased this late last year but gave up after a series of frustrating cuss-filled sessions. It seemed that no two takeoffs were the same. After reading everyone's advice, eventually I managed to struggle off the ground a few times, but there seemed no logic to how I was doing it. Yesterday I came back to it, determined to tame the beast. In one day I have gone from: "EFFING USELESS PIECE OF S***, I HATE YOU. DIE DIE DIE!" to: "I CAN DO IT! I CAN DO IT!" pretty much every time (okay, not always pretty). For me the "click" moment was actually using the right instrument. In this case the turn indicator. You obviously want to keep it centered with rudder, but I realized it starts to move (and thus needs correction) before the plane visually appears to turn. If I waited until I saw the plane start to veer, then it was too late and I was eating grass. Once airborne it's a joy to fly, smoother than the P-51. Landing is another matter though...
