  1. Afternoon chaps, I am reading a lot about different user FC3 mods where they make AI aircraft flyable using the cockpits of other aircraft, which seems a fun way to add a bit more variety. I have seen where they mention using, for example the SU-27 cockpit with the avionics of the SU-25T. I am familiar with the file structure of DCS, and am comfortable rewriting lua's to suit my purposes. However, I need clarification on this: the 'Cockpit' used is defined in the Mods/aircraft/*aircraft name*/shapes folder, but where are the 'Avionics' defined? Is this simply the default.lua that allocates your keyboard or device mappings found in Mods/aircraft/*aircraft name*/Input/keyboard folder? I also see some mods supplied with an *aircraft name*.lua file that resides in Scripts/Database/planes that defines various aircraft parameters and pylon loads - this however doesn't seem to be present in all cases. Is this script just to provide custom payloads and for mission editor purposes? Thanks to anybody for their help! Tom
  2. Morning People, The Su-25A is my favourite aircraft in DCS - there is something much more satisfying about destroying visually spotted ground targets than dogfighting with radar etc! I'm attempting to build a realistic campaign based on a monthly snapshot of RAF operations over Iraq and Syria, but moulding the background and targets to fit the Black Sea theatre. By realistic I mean 2-4 weapons per aircraft per sortie - none of this Rambo nonsense with PTAB's, MBD racks, KH25 and S-8 rockets on every pylon to take out 12-15 targets. More targtes = more aircraft, not more weapons! Now, obviously the RAF use exclusively precision guided weaponry in their operations against IS which are not available for the SU-25A. I also note that the RuAF are using FAB-250's on a lot of their ground attacks in Syria. While mooching through YouTube I found this video: which shows Su-25's in action. I can see they are using unguided rockets for ground attacks, but does anybody know which ones? It looks to me to be a combination of S-25 and S-8, but I'd like to know for sure because it would be nice to blend these kind of strikes into the campaign. Cheers Guys, Tom
  3. As someone who has come to DCS only recently, having been a die-hard FSX-er for 8 years or so, I have to say that the FC3 aircraft are well modelled and fun to fly; I'd certainly welcome more aircraft of that level (let's face it, the basic specs of weapons and targeting systems are widely known) and to make them passable enough for what is effectively a very detailed game shouldn't be too complex. Let's take a Tornado GR4 as an example; any layman can find out about the RAPTOR recon pod, how the Attack radar functions, what guidance the Brimstone uses. It's all there, it just needs somebody willing to use it. I can see that there is a rather vocal following for 100% accurate systems and flight modelling (as there is with FSX and PMDG etc), but I am willing to bet there are a bucketload more people who don't need/want such accuracy and would be willing to throw $30 at another 3 FC3 level aircraft.
