  1. Can anyone share their settings for a good VR experience 980ti 32gb ram and high end CPU. I have found that reducing the resolution does not really effect the quality of the visuals but does improve the simulation smoothness an immersion. I am using the following settings in both 1.5.3 and 2. high high low low medium off flat 1366x768 1.77 1 Screen 1024 every frame 16xQ off off flare clutter 0 tree 6000 Preload 92525 16x off
  2. Yes I agree. High frame rates and smoothness reduces sickness but the more time you spend in VR the better it gets. Your brain adapts quickly. I can spend a couple of hours with no issue now. First time 20 minuets had me green around the gills.
  3. I got my Oculus CV1 last Wednesday 13th April 2016. I have spent about 6 hours flying various aircraft in DCS world 1.5 and the experience is amazing. I have found that reducing the resolution of the simulator does not seem to reduce the image quality but does improve how smooth the experience is and improve the overall level of immersion. I have it at 1280 x 800 on a rig with a 980ti graphics card and I can see no real detail difference between the lower resolution and 1920 x 1080 apart from stutters at the higher resolution. DCS world 2 however is really jerky and unable to achieve the sort of frame rates to allow for a usable experience. Please let me know what settings others are using and keep the pressure on ED to at least keep the current 1.5 release build available as a stable version of the VR ready DCS World simulator. It would be a real shame to not have this as it truly is the best flight sim experience I have ever had. Please ED let us all know updates and the development road map for VR because I truly believe you are on to a winner here if you can improve the sharpness and smoothness for VR.
  4. Personally I would consider the Hawk. It was my last module and the one before that was the M2K. I can honestly say that I have had the most fun with the Hawk. Not too many switches but enough for full immersion. This means as it is a trainer you can concentrate on the flying more than the avionics and let me tell you flying it does well. Right now we have the SFM which means the edge of performance envelope is not quite as it should be but I would say don't let that put you off. With the latest updates announced by VEAO and the Hawk pilots views of the pending EFM update I am thoroughly excited for its release in the next few weeks including new training missions and updated cockpit textures. Further down the line I have heard that the Hawk will get it's own campaign all very good news. Obviously everyone is different so my taste might not be the same as yours. I do think I am with the majority of virtual aviators that own the Hawk and they like it. It is difficult parting with your hard earned cash when reviews remain limited for these modules. I own FC3, P51, A10C, Huey, Saber, Black Shark, MIG 21, L39, Mirage and Hawk. If shooting things is your thing then you can still have fun with this module both air to air and air to ground. The Hawk is perfectly suited to screaming through a valley at low level and putting a few rockets on target. Whats my daily fly? The Hawk. If you like flying and having to think about energy management as with all real aircraft then this module exploits that feeling and with a reasonable turn of speed and performance then this could be your next module. Do your research and makes your choice, L39 is good too but as a Brit it has to be the Hawk for me when it come to jet trainers. Here is a link to a mission I created and flew. 5. So I have had another go at 1.5.3. If you use high settings for everything with a reasonably hi end PC 60 fps is within your grasp. I am getting between 45 - 100 fps but for the most part I am at or around 60 fps and I think it does look better than much higher settings in 1.5.2 With track ir it is once again a decent experience.
  6. I think we can all accept much of what has been said from a positive point of view and I am all for options. It is just about education for most. If we are seeing improved graphics then I am all for that but if the frame rate penalty is that high that it becomes a bad experience then a choice would have been good or knowing that previous ultra settings are now medium in the new build. Looks like you have now given us all an option so hats off to you. Further to this I see NVIDIA posting driver updates for new releases all the time. I think ED should talk to the likes of NVIDIA because although this was originally old software it is currently using a modern DX11 capable engine. Can you or anyone from ED advise that they are talking to NVIDIA and AMD about new drivers that have optimisations for EDGE just as we would see with any major new release.
  7. So I was getting between 130 and 200 FPS on max settings. I would say my set up is High End. 1.5.3 has really made me wish I had not updated and I have spent a few quid because of how much I was enjoying DCS World having given up on it many years ago because of poor performance. I think we need a proper explanation here because I have noticed more modern graphics outputs like strobes lighting the air frame etc. If we want to make a fair comparison then we need to know what graphics settings are the equivalent in this update to the last. ED can you let us know as it looks like the update has bricked DCS World 1.5.3 but we all know that that is not really the case. Lots of unhappy people at the moment please set us all straight.
