LAN multiplayer severe lag and bouncing planes?
Cabbage replied to Cabbage's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Ok guys its all sorted now. I updated the "Killer Network Management" app that is required to run my ethernet card (E2200) and now it all seems hunky dorey. I also disabled the apps bandwidth control. Thankyou for your help! -

Yes mate, have tried both internet IP and LAN IP. Same result. -
LAN multiplayer severe lag and bouncing planes?
Cabbage replied to Cabbage's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Ok so a file transfer between the 2 PCs averaged at 12 MB/s. Network is router then cable through to a different part of the house into an 8 port switch. Both machines are wired into that switch. No firewall software, no AV. Router is Netgear DGN2200. If it makes any difference Rise of Flight runs flawlessly over LAN. -

Just joined an online aerobatics server with 15 people on and they all appeared smooth to me, completely unlike when I attempt to run a server with my brother. -
LAN multiplayer severe lag and bouncing planes?
Cabbage replied to Cabbage's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Network speed is set to LAN (if that's what you mean by data rate?). Haven't tried measuring FPS yet. Ping between machines is 1ms average. It's been like this for a while, we tried playing over LAN about 8 months ago and it was laggy. -
My brother and I are having a problem trying to play DCS over a lan network. Both machines are reasonably high spec i7s with 6 and 12 gig of Ram. Both run the game smoothly in single player. However when we enter a multiplayer mission that either of us is hosting (literally two planes and nothing else), the lag is violent. The planes appear to bounce along the runway when looking at each other (as in bounce 8 ft in the air when taxiing). I read on here that the MSI killer network app can cause this and I have an MSI gaming laptop so I tried to shut that down but it didn't make a difference. I've tried connecting via LAN and through ticking the "public game" box. If it makes a difference, neither of us can see each others game on the public list, we always have to connect via IP. This lag has been happening for several patches now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Need help: Cannot select "Internet" in server options
Cabbage replied to Smoky's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I tried hosting a LAN gmae last night with my brother, both running off the same router. We couldn't see the game in the master list nor could we connect via IP. I did have the "advertise as public game" checkbox or whatever it is ticked. Does that essentially stop you being able to connect over LAN? We could both see other games in the master server list and we could both join to other servers with no problems. I tried moving the host ip into the DMZ on the router but that didn't work either! -
Hey Juju, Just be careful. Mine did exactly what you just described, got me back into windows but next time I shut down it failed to restart and I couldn't get out of the blue screen cycle. Hopefully you haven't got the same thing!

To anyone who hasnt seen OP, all ssd defrag points are irrelevant as no ssd is involved.

Smart report checked out all ok last night. Ive already reinstalled windows. Pulled 200gb of user and steam files off it using anothrr pc.

Feel free to alter title to represent the fact it MIGHT have corrupted it as oppose to did. I tested the hard drive using Seagate's software (it's a Seagate drive). I ran the full suite of tests and it passed them all. Windows repair tool also said it could find no faults with the drive itself. Tried repairing windows using the windows 7 cd but no joy. It'd boot to desktop momentarily before blue screening. In the end I saved my save games, steam downloads and user file, reformatted the drive and reinstalled windows. It seems to all be fine now. 1.2.3 full clients on the download.

Only have one restore point and it didnt help. So the general consensus is that if I reinstall windows, that will not help as it is a hardware failure?
-
I will try the SMART or LINUX jobby when I get home. Will report back with whatever it says. Cheers chaps

I'll look into this... but the HDD has never showed any signs of skipping a beat before, it just seems a little too convenient timing wise for it to be a random hardware failure. I'm gona try repairing off windows 7 disk and if that doesn't work I'll just have to reinstall windows 7 and salvage what I can off the HDD first.
-
I will give that a try EagleEye. I run spyware S&D and adaware plus the windows firewall but no specific AV tbh.
-
The hard drive sounds normal/sexy.

@c0ff - I did clear the temp folder using hard disk cleanup while the auto updater was mid download, could that have caused issues?
-
It's a 500Gb HDD, not SSD. It also will not boot in safe mode. I have tried the windows recovery options by going "repair my pc" from the f8 boot up menu then using "Startup recovery" but it says it cannot automatically repair it. Bummer. The blue screen said something about a BAD_POOL_HEADER. Another time it said something about fltmgr.exe or something. I'll confirm tonight.

Hey all. I left the DCS world auto updater running when I went to work yesterday and when I came home my PC had blue screened... Went to restart it and now it blue screens whenever pc boots to desktop. Have done a run through and it seems as though I have some corrupt files in HDD. Tried loading a restore point (one had been auto created when I was at work, so I presume this was the point at which the patch started to install itself) but no joy. Looking like a reinstall windows job. Anyone else come across this? Windows 7 64 bit, Q6600 Gefore 560Ti blah blah. PS. I have World/FC3/BS2/A10/CA/P51 installed. All at 1.2.2 prior to this.

Ahhh I had this same problem but I didn't realise I had to keep 1.1.1.1 installed. The instructions that came with the email newsletter did not mention that. Presumably this means I have to waste an activation reactivating it?
