  1. Yeah, I bought the russian version to help support ed and to learn how to fly the darn thing before the english version was released. Should we uninstall the russian version? Thanks
  2. True, the interconnectivity with all the DCS modules is quite impressive but I meant in a broader scheme. In the mid to late 90's, there was a combat sim boom with games like the jane's series, F4, etc. With DCS and Atari(think Micropose) talking long term sim titles, we may have finally seen the end of the dark ages for flight combat sims.
  3. I am hijacking my own thread since I was just curious as to why they went with a less advanced heli. The F/A-18 would also be perfect. Though getting all the specs might be harder than the F-16 which has been out alot longer and is in so many countries(not much classified stuff on it). Since it seams like there will be a new releases every year(from the devs mouths not mine), hopefully the DCS series will be the new Jane's i where you have a string of great sim titles.
  4. Which game? I usually left off the secondary screen(their version of the schkval) since eech's code was so poorly optimized that you fps dove whenever it was on.
  5. Makes sense. As I always thought it odd that eech had the comanche, a heli that was never even put into production and later scrapped. Its funny because I played F4 at length and it would seam the Ka-50 has more to learn in it. I can't wait till we start getting some Migs/Su's, maybe F-15s/16s fully modeled. I think they would be foolish not to do the F-16 at somepoint since, for gaming purposes, it is perfect. Like ground missions-check. Like air to air-check. Truly multirole.
  6. Wow, I really didn't know that. I thought since it was in the same family as the Hind, it was older. Just curious, but why did the devs choose an older chopper to model as opposed to the more modern Havok?
  7. OK, I finally figured out how to aim, track, target, and fire weapons. Now, being a veteran from the Enemy Engaged series, I was wondering why, if the KA-50 is more advanced than the Havok, why does the Havok have a ground radar that basically scans 360 degrees around him and locks onto any target it finds as opposed to the manual mode the KA-50 must use with the (sorry for the miss spelling) shvkal. Now, understand I am not complaining as I am loving this game and will love it even more when I can fly the campaign in a language I can understand but thought it was kind of weird. Thanks
  8. First off, hats off to ED for making such an in depth game. Now, since I am quite Euro/English speaking-centric, I cannot understand a word of Russian. So, since this bird is a whole different animal than the(comparitively) simpler su-27/mig-29, I am having problems with the basics of the weapons systems. This would easily be remedied by a tutorial, but they are in Russian. I have watched the producers notes but alot of what he references are buttons already located/programmed on his hotas so I'm not sure which button he is pressing. Bottom line, can someone recreate the training missions but in english. And yes I know about the manual(I have it) but it is so detailed, that the steps for a proper firing solution are spread across the whole manual. Thanks guys and ED, I NEVER buy retail for anything gaming related(always buy second hand since its cheaper) so the fact that I will buy the russian version tells you something.
  9. Ok, the only way a saved state file will work in a campaign is if the saved state is saved in a campaign where every previous mission has been successful. This means that declassifying a campaign might affect saved states if the missions are not played in order. For example. An 8 mission campaign - You play mission 3 before mission 1 or 2 are completed(the little check mark), While in mission 3, you save the state. When you go to load the state, it automatically brings up the first available NON COMPLETED mission(in this case, mission 1). If however you play mission 3(in a classifed or declassified campaign) and the previous two mission are completed, then you can save the state in mission 3 and when you load the saved state, press map and then choose the mission where the saved state is from(in this case mission 3), click fly, and your saved state should load. This is a pain in the butt if you want to save a state in say mission 18 but have not completed any of the previous missions. In my opinion, this bug should have been ironed out years ago. Maybe the devs though they should force you to play the campaign in order. One way to gain those completed missions is maybe to add a bunch of allied flights to quickly win the mission. I'm not sure if there is a cheat to automatically win a mission
