I have been tracking the CH47 as my last purchase of a ED module since Nov 2024, I did this to see how development went after the big updates to it in October 2024, I considered the Apache to have a good dev cycle and thought this might too as I believed ED to have an experienced helo team, I was using this tracking to figure out if I would buy the MIG 29A in EA, based on the below list of added features since October 2024, its slowed to a crawl in the dev cycle, so I decided to hold of the MIG 29A
My tracking was for added features not fixes to existing added features and I was looking for value added to make it fun to use in missions for its intended purpose of logistic, as you can see in 2025 we have had 2 added features and still have no ED added logistics features.
2024
October 30 - Major update
CH-47 added items not fixes
Added. Longitudinal Cyclic Trim (LCT) functionality in automatic and manual modes. LCT reduces fuselage nose down attitude as speed increases by tilting the rotors according to airspeed between 60 and 150 knots. This allows the fuselage to remain level for cargo and troops.
Added. Differential Air Speed Hold (DASH) functionality (WIP). As you increase speed, the DASH, (a long tube in the flight controls with an actuator on each end) will increase in length. If you move the cyclic back to center, the aircraft will still maintain airspeed. This allows you to keep the cyclic in a more natural, centered position when flying at higher airspeeds.
Added. ARC-201D and ARC-220 radios (WIP).
Improvements to many MFD and CDU pages.

It's like we are doing charity here. But the kind of unefficient charity that helps no one, fixes nothing and only aggravates self destructing behaviours.
ED has dropped out of the list of companies I would trust to buy Early Access.

I get home in 2h, let me check, clean mods and share
- I cleaned the mission of Mods. The infantery units have 50 seconds hold/wait on initial waypoint before they start moving.
Played it last week, loaded the infantery and had a long low level flight until droping the troops at Troll Oil Plataform (now changed for default cargo ship). Embarking and disembarking went ok.
Let me know how it goes. I will try again other maps if I find some time this weekend.

Anyone else having trouble embarking CH USA Infantry to a CH-47F you are flying? I set them up but when I look at ground troops to call them to board they aren't an option. They'll board AI aircraft ok but won't board a client aircraft.
Only works for me In Kola. Two independent groups of CH inf. (no ATGM).
I tried same method in Marinas, Nevada and PG and they never show as an option in comms menu.

Looks great, hope it comes out of EA soon.

Nice to see ED finally taking care of Assets. If it wasn't for the enviorment provided by CH and other modders I would have not spent a dime in DCS since long ago.
Hope it does not take two - three years as it is allways the case with teased AI content.

Congrats CH, nice to see your hard work has paid off.
I am also very happy to see ED didn't miss this chance to put up to date with so much needed assets.

Same here, spent two hours in the morning setting up a template for a training flight tonight. I'm so ******* happy right now I just going to the E-shop to throw some money at the new shiny ball.

I bought the Chinook in the state it was released because it really felt like ED needed it. Then got burnt with Afghanistan - complained and got bullied out of any ED Early Access product for good - to then find out there was really something off when a 'more talented' team released Iraq without the awfull visual issues of Afghanistan.
I don't know what to think anymore. It just feels like a stunt and adds more uncertainty.

Imagine having the option for not paying upfront, if you as a customer, dislikes the uncertainty of early access.
I have found myself imagineing this more and more often lately and the first consecuence is me not spending a cent in DCS until 2028, when C-130J comes out of EA.
There was a time when an ED product in early access was self guarantee. Even with the 'two weeks' and 'all subject to change" thing it only required patience but I never felt the uncertainty you talk about until now.

So, the people who bought Afghanistan Map just dind't get lucky with the team assigned to the project?
I hope the update comes soon.

Yeah I haven't touched this map since launch...
I have a group of about 30 players that all bought this and are in the same boat.
I keep trying every time i run DCS and I can't use it for more than five minutes. In its current state I prefer to use Nevada.

Wow! You people are brave, true supporters.
This situation became unbearable for me by the time of the code's timebomb thing and I pulled the trigger.
I hope you are all rewared soon.

I just don't know any more. Is like ED, third partys, moderators and the 'you just got what you paid for' crew are actively bulling us out of participating in the early access process.
If this is not soveld via hotfix within a week I'm asking for a refund.
Enough with this jocke.

There is something that keeps you here trying to make your points instead of enjoying the map.

I tried to find lots of ways to phrase this that were more polite, but it boils down to - why the F*** do people keep buying early access products - that are clearly labelled as unfinished - then go into emotional meltdowns and paroxysms of forum post rage when they discover the unfinished product they bought is ... unfinished?
All the maps were of poorer quality when released than they are now - ALL OF THEM.
Frame rates on the Mariannas map were so poor when it was released that after trying the day I downloaded I didn't even bother looking at it again for months & until it had been patched a few times. It's a nice map now, but wasn't when released.
Afghanistan is in its first day of Early Access & people are complaining that it's not as polished as maps that have been being patched and de-bugged for years - in some cases a decade or more.
After the tsunami of whingeing that appeared on the map's release, I downloaded & started it with a heavy heart, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
There are some rough bits but on the whole - it looks an interesting map & geographically varied (even the north-east part of the initial release is far from being 'another desert map'), the frame rates are good, bits of the map are beautiful, and at 0m to 50m altitude, and from a couple of thousand m AGL it looks very nice. In between there are a few things to work on - but that's why they repeatedly, all over the forum, all over the download page and all over every social media channel and internet site it's mentioned on, say 'IT'S NOT FINISHED"
If, when they say it's 'finished', you think its's not up to scratch - complain then.
If it takes too long to get to 'finished' complain about that (but please wait at least a week from today)
But for God's sake please stop complaining that the product you consciously bought in the full knowledge that it is unfinished, is unfinished, & do the rest of us a favour by not buying any more early access products.
Please.
We'll all be happier
Hey mate, you can come with the EA song and all the screenshots and lectures you want but here are people just expressing a reasonable level of disappointment.
At the end these are personal points of view and part of the feedback the EA process provides for the good of all. If you can not deal with opinions that don't match your own there is a 'praise the map' topic.

I checked yesterday while trying the new Afghanistan map and the problem is still there.
What is te priority on this bug that affects 15-60% of the screen of the main sensor each time you zoom and slew?

It just looks awful and far below what I expect for an ED's Early Acces product. I tested it flying a Kiowa and I could not belive the ugly patchwork of textures and the absurd topography of roads connnecting main urban centers through gentle valleys.
Worst came when I thought 'well, it's and EA lets switch to F2 view and go as high as possible, sure it improves'.
It didn't.

Hi Joyz, it is estimated to take between 7 and 10 work days. In my experience (10 natural days) once you get an answer the process is resolved almost inmediately.
