I have "DCS" since Flanker 1.0 and this is the absolute worst one I've ever played. Not only are the missions broken, the loading screens have grmmatical errors and the whole thing feels very stretched and awkward.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TR_YO8Z3Kwf36kqBpwxbWxFRGHLfuY5I/view?usp=sharing Rescue Hip won't take off.
-
Yeah, but has anyone actually done it, and if so - what are your templates?
-
The airbrake button on the stick is not in the binds menu, have they not implemented it, af if not - why? The module has been out for a long time, yet there are key features of the aircraft missing. Also, what about that cabin fog?
-
This is ridiculous, please fix the damage. Almost the entire canon complement goes into its tail and it keeps flying. CH-47.trk

Not even mentioning numerous grammatical errors in the briefing screens, the campaign is quite awful. Especially the mission where you're supposed to take out 4 SU-25s which carry R-60s, all the while dodging heat-seaking missiles from the Hill 39. How are you supposed to do that again? The only way to fly this mission is with labels turned on, so you don't have to watch out for missiles hitting you. In "reality" if I was the pilot of 15 (or if anyone without a deathwish) would just turn and fly away from the AO. Way too many threats to even suggest a fight. Let alone against 4 flying tanks that take your cannon ammunition like it's peas. I don't know who's idea of "fun" is trying to dodge countless IR missiles whilst shooting 25s who can outmanuver on any height you despite having full armament load. ---- In later missions when you have to take on two Bombers that try to bomb the airport, you have F-16s chasing you with AMRAAMs. It is virtually unplayable. The B-52H bombers get downed by SU-27s on the Scramble mission. If not - you die by F-16A. What fun! ---- Radar dodging mission is laughable - you get detected as soon as you take off. You don't even have time to get your gear up. What were yout thinking when you've made this?!

You know, I do know how to bomb with old aircraft - I have been studying them for 30 years now and flying for that much too (sim or otherwise). Thanks for the background, but I was asking a specific question, not "how it was done back in the day". So let me repeat myself - what I'm asking is if anyone has trained themselves to bomb from that height - please let me know the method. The only one I can think of is going 600 km/h @ 5000 AGL and counting after the target disappears under your nose. FAB-100M falls like a brick. I get usually 100 meter faults due to not being able to keep the altitude. I'm doing the godawful Museum Relic campagin and I'm dropping my bombs on the Hill 39 before I engage the 25s.
-
Would be nice to get some tips on this as its impossible to bomb some things in the Campaign for the 15bis due to AAA and MANPADs. I am trying to bomb things from 5,000 meters AGL, so far my bombs land about 100 meters short. I was wondering if anyone has been succesfully level flight bombing enemies into oblivion from higher alt.

I've just had KC-135 take the nearly entire complement of cannon ammunition from MiG-15bis and outrun me on near Mach 1.0. Someone needs to really fix the AI models for the big guys, in both damage and speed.

I've rearmed and have enabled the Mavericks later. Maybe it was a one off thing. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1J8nuLOFo5Vy9CWifLAxxHLs8Oxy3Xo2r

After landing on the carrier, rearming, then flying off again and selecting mavericks to launch they are still stuck on STDBY. I've been flying around for minutes, nothing changes.

After I load the game and click "Start" it crashes immediately. I have reinstalled my windows and DCS, the same setup (exactly) now does not work. What gives? It's Windows 10 Home on MacBook Pro, running on external SSD in BootCamp. The game is standalone, tied to steam to have overlay (and yes, it crashes whether it's launced through steam or not). I've had this problem before the reinstall, but it went away after a restart. The video card drivers are up to date. ---- EDIT: Drivers for videocard were from 2015 and 2017. Somehow, the system decided to use the 2015 one. So this iw what I've done: Gone to Control Panel ->Device Manager->Video Adapters-> AMD Radeon (or whatever your videocard is) -> RMB ->Update Drivers-> Search drivers on PC -> Chose from the list present on this PC -> choose your driver -> OK -> Restart I hope this helps anyone experiencing the same problem. dcs.log-20181206-123345.zip

Actually, the DG/DM modes are off. I have made it go to search (or I just turn off the radar for ground work so as to increase stealth). The problem with the radar is that the target designator on the radar display won't work in search mode, no matter the range. That happens only sometimes - it will get stuck and just won't move. Jettison switch is in neutral positon (I check my cockpit and armament switches visually before starting the attack). It might be the X-55 I am using, I am wondering if this happens to anyone else. So far, the error has not repeated itself. I have reinstalled windows and will report back if it occurs again.

They work 50/50. I've tested every mode and I've tested the theory in tutorial: after a certain amount of time in game the F-5 just stops dropping bombs or rockets. I've tried every mode and every switch, I can hear and see the button being pressed for the laucnh, but nothing happens. Also, sometimes the Crosshair stays in the same spot, despite setting elevation down. Maybe the Gyro got damaged in a steep turn due to over G, but the crosshair even in manual mode won't adjust. I have caged and uncaged it in other modes, switched modes - nothing.

Since I've got most of the modules this is what I do. But I have to force myself to learn Gazelle. I must be awesome at it. My target is to be instructor-level by the end of next week. What's a good server to learn SA342, btw? I'm in Hong Kong, so I guess lag will be expected and people here don't really play stuff like this. You've seen my setup, or if you haven't -- look in one of the previous posts. My hand is outstretched all the time, which makes it difficult to control anything, I can't even bend it. Thinking of buying a sim chair, but I don't want to invest into a specialised one just yet. I like a challenge, so yes. The way I hover is actually quite the opposite -- I ride her like a horse and I pull on the reins just before I hover (look for my replays in Tacview). Out of all the ways of flying that I've tried so far -- this has been the most successful; I also add collective vigorously as I compensate for the drop, and since my vector of thrust moves from down to forward -- the speed bleeds faster.

Well, sometimes I forget to save the track file so I just pop into my TV folder.

Thanks guys. I'd like to start from the top though, do you have a link to all the essential Heli videos for just learning how to fly? I have been able to learn to fly Mistral good enough to shoot down SU-27 enemy AI. Still, my heli driving is far from what I see on the net. Also, I have put the strongest string on my X-55 and it helped a lot. When I take it off -- the heli goes mental. No sexual innuendos meant. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oS27A_5T4p8CRzhQMkHkHoLU_IIxe-lB/view?usp=sharing

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J6reyWQA0DEnbcltLmrxgA6p63Xwxmrm/view?usp=sharing Don't exactly have a dream setup here. I have to extend my arms to use the HOTAS and that beanbag behind the chair is stopping it from rolling away.

Well, I am literally using miniscule changes to fly the thing as I've said before. I wonder what do I do to makes sure it doesn't get out of hand. If I don't compensate enough, the situation develops even further. Also, about that Land/take-off practice - I've done it before, so I decided I'd try to hover in order to shoot those tanks. Hovering where I want to, not where she lets me. *proceeds to put on Offspring SMASH album on and tries again* Thank you for your input guys. I'm trying my best to watch your videos, but I don't want to get discouraged by how awesome people's flying is hah. ---------------------- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eihdNM03zfEqAkxWJDQX1jDN7_EPphZa/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mBEwhqySmR7z04A0wZd2RkEJSmU0AdYi/view?usp=sharing Felt like a wild weasel, but what a ride! Bring your vomit bag. I know I've wasted those flares, but I wanted to look cool and that's what a pilot would do anyway if he was attacked, even if it wasn't a heatseeking missile, right? They really should attach one Strela to those tanks, just in case, so that the loader can get out and shoot a Heli down (since they've removed the AA MG). The little threahead in me wouldn't shut up. Did you see that miss at 22:30?! What about 24:33? It went above the head of the pilot, through the rotor disc, next to the rotor shaft and out. This is the some Matrix stuff right there!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w4zzXNyZqiHr9qcDnuMLnyA_nW6owgs3/view?usp=sharing Tried my best, didn't fare any better. The helicopter hovers when it wants to, doesn't listen to my commands, starts spinning for no reason to the left when speed decreases. Obviously, since it doesn't hover where I want it to I get shot down. That's not what people are saying in general.

I know - increase lateral velocity to counter VRS. I don't know what properly calibrated is though, since everything is set to 0 deadzone and only 15 curve on the pedals. They are g940 pedals, in the Logitech software the sensitivity is set to 100%, otherwise all curves and deadzones are at 0. I've got a light touch too and I have played IL-2 with a joystick that had no spring for about 5 years (and I couldn't edit the curves so I had to treat it like a brain surgeon treats the laser scalpel). Still, maybe I'm losing my touch or maybe, just maybe - I need to learn how to actually fly helos. I've got all the modules, so maybe Mi-8 would be a good place to re-start my learning again. Gonna practice a bit and make another track, stay tuned for my Cirque du Gazelle. *puts on a playlist by CCR and goes for another run*

I'm ACTUALLY good in MiG-21. I really like flying this Gazelle thing, but its behavior is bipolar to me. I don't like her attitude when I get near-hover speeds. I don't like it even more when I watch the video in this thread where the Gazelle flying is done so well and I'm having so much trouble. If you've noticed, I am flying at low collective. I need just enough of it to go to 100 kph and maintain that low altitude. Still, as I am trying to hover she either flares and shoots for the space or sinks on the tail like a ship going down.
-
But there's more https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aFl3sikStM19nVj8AnYWOo7O7gCl4BkW/view?usp=sharing It seems that during rebinding of keys I forgot to unbind my Pedal brake from my cyclic. I flew again and played with curves for pedals. But this time - things went worse. As I try to engage auto-hover the heli goes out of control; not only this, but the helicopter loses altitude whilst losing speed which is completely illogical. Adding more collective makes it rise too fast. It should not drop like a stone when I am decreasing speed, nor should it shoot upwards as I gradually increase the collective. I'm flying with pedals both times. In fact, I fly MUCH better with twist. I find myself consciously resisting the urge to twist my joystick.

Well, I ditched the curves and dead zones, put the string back on the X-55 and it flies well. Until I try to hover. Then it starts shaking, spinning out of control to the left side for no reason, loses altitude and when I correct it - goes up like a flare for all the tanks to shoot it down. Why it goes so unstable I don't know. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ijSnWw52-b2pd9jcbTWNDWH7WorqjybJ/view?usp=sharing
